when buried beneath a snowstorm
you lose sense of every direction
except desperation. in darkness sometimes
trying to dig your way out you end
up burying yourself even deeper
becoming an epitaph on your own
struggle, a tldr made flesh.
i've never really seen real snow
but i still suffocate whenever
it's newly cold. it is said i should lie
down bellyfirst and let someone drum
soft taps onto my back and sides, drink
warm milk with turmeric daily and have
a spoonful of honey with powdered pepper
every night. but i make do with an inhaler
a tub of vicks vaporub and a bad joke.
when buried under snow, it is said
dig a little and then spit— if it falls
on your face you're moving
in the right direction. the bad joke—
when she asks me why do you still
use the inhaler i could say because
you're still breathtaking. i remember
watching the revenant which had lots
of harsh snow but also a tender line
in pawnee that kept flashing across
dicaprio's grizzly-mauled mind—
when there is a storm... and you
stand in front of a tree... if you look
at its branches, you swear it will fall
but if you watch the trunk, you will
see its strength.
while digging your way out of that darkness
forget the spit on your face and the fact
that you've lost your goggles— as soon as you
surface the swirling prisms of the snowstorm
will blind you. i've seen enough
clips of snow to know small snowballs
don't roll into big ones like we're shown
in cartoons— they become some vaguely
wobbling wheel. what does that say
of the way we teach our kids
about consequences? i've never seen
real snow, let alone be buried in it
but i still have spit on my face.
what does that say about the way
we keep ourselves warm?
what does that say about you
taking my breath away?

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.

The fallen (?) hero and Aži Dahāka's soul fragment
I have to apologize.A certain real life problem that I thought I got rid of has caught up to me once again.I tried to continue writing, but my mind was not in the right track to do so and thus, as some people had said, the quality of the latest 2 chapters had turned from the usual "bad" to "worst". So, I reluctantly have to say that I will be away until I can sort things out.I can't say when, but I do intend to return to writing. I might lurk around to read other people's works though. I will be turning my attention to stories with "tragedy" and "despair". The five of us were summoned to this world from our clubroom two years ago to be made as heroes.Shouldn't forceful summoning like that be counted as kidnapping?Well, we chose to go with the heroes route. After harsh training and battles, not to mention all the killings, we finally defeated the demon lord. However, all those achievements literally became nothing, it wasn't just forgotten, it was erased to be totally nothing as even the written records were somehow being disposed of. I was too naive. Who would have thought that the side we have been fighting alongside with, the side we were fighting for, was the one to bring our demise? After I had to see everyone else turn into nothingness, somehow... I alone survived. Note: I will attempt to fix the grammar problem with the help of lieutenant colonel fletterman. This may delay the release of future chapter. Chapter 1 is fixed. Chapter 2 is fixed.
