'Jennifer, look.' Carly nudged me, and I turned to see what she was talking about, and my expression immediately changed to match her defending scowl. The school's bullies strolled through the hallway, laughing and nudging each other, I rolled my eyes, turning to my left to face Carly. 'Just ignore them, if we don't bother them, they won't bother us, it will be better then last year, I'm sure of it.' I assured Carly with a faint smile on my face, Carly raised an eyebrow, 'How can it be? This is worst, with the Greek and Roman gods and all...' She trailed off, I shrugged.
With a snort, Carly dragged me to the south wing of the school, she waved before running into her class. I smiled as I strolled into mine. 'Good afternoon Mr Blofis,' I greeted the teacher before dropping onto my seat. 'Morning Miss Brown.' Mr Blofis greeted me without looking up, I made a face, realising that it was indeed morning. Normally, teachers at Goode had trouble remembering when class started, but Mr Blofis was the best, he was like a friend to everyone.
I set my things down, and the second warning bell for class rang, I immediately glanced up at the door, not surprised at the wave of students that filed into the classroom, but what did surprise me was the last student that came in, first of all, he walked, not ran, and secondly, he was new. Mr Blofis glanced at the doorway and smiled at the new guy before turning back to the class, I studied the stranger as he found an empty seat near me.
The newcomer had shaggy black hair swept to the side, tan skin, and green eyes that looked like the cleanest ocean I've ever seen. He had a lopsided grin stuck on his face, and a unusual bead necklace around his neck with only four or five beads on it, each had a weird peculiar design, I could only tell that one of them had a trident painted on it, weird. His outfit was casual enough, a white shirt with jeans, with a sky blue jumper over it, a navy blue backpack hanging off one shoulder. He seemed chill enough.

'Alright class, settle down, before we began, let's introduce our new student, because I'm sure you're all curious.' Mr Blofis reasoned, and gestured for the new guy to go up front, with a easy-going smile, the new guy walked to the front and waved at everyone, 'Hello, I'm Percy Jackson, a seventeen year old kid from Manhattan, New York.' He introduced before going back to his seat. Mr Blofis then typed some things on his laptop and the TV at the front of the class lit up, showing rows of words, I sighed, this was going to take forever.

I let out a relieved sigh and sat down on the cold concrete next to my friends to eat my tuna sandwich, 'Hey Jennifer,' They greeted, and I smiled before taking a sip of water, interrupted when Carly let out a groan, I raised an eyebrow until I saw the bullies heading towards a new kid that is in the same class as Carly if I remembered correctly. Now this new student was interesting, I could remember his name was Nico.
Nico had messy black hair, pale skin, and a silver skull ring on his finger, and brown, almost black eyes. His shirt was black, hoodie was so dark blue it was almost black, even his pants and shoes were black, it was quite intriguing if you ask me. Derrick, the leader of the bully crew, stepped up to Nico, who stood leaning against a tree, Derrick grinned. 'Who is this? Looks like we got ourselves a new target boys.' Derrick snarled out with a smirk, Nico didn't seem scared, happy, or even angry, he just stood there, unimpressed.
Derrick seemed angered he didn't get a reaction, so he grabbed Nico's arm and held it at his side, attempting to throw a punch at Nico's face, I winced, but Nico didn't. He simply turned and dodged it, freeing his arm at the same time. Derrick growled, and one of the school's popular girls' whispered in his ear, causing Derrick to grin.

'You know, di Angelo, I heard you don't have a mum or dad, and you lost your sister.' Derrick said with obvious fake sympathy. 'I heard they died from an accident, but I don't believe it, I bet,' Derrick grinned deviously, he then whispered the last part out harshly, 'I bet they hated you, so committed suicide.' He then let out a laugh. I stood up, wanting to punch the guy, and Nico flinched, a scowl forming on his face.
'What did you say to our cousin?' A voice called out angrily, and Derrick turned around to see two scowling teenagers, Percy Jackson and a girl wearing a silver circlet on her head. Derrick smirked, 'I said his family hated him, so killed themselves.' Derrick repeated, without another word, the two apparently cousins each grabbed Derrick by the shoulder and pushed him forcefully up against the tree. With a threatening glare, the girl whispered into Derrick's ear, 'You can talk about me, Percy, Nico, anyone, but don't you dare talk about Nico's family.' She growled out, shoving Derrick into the dirt.
Derrick spit dirt out of his mouth and stood up, 'Oh sure, what will you do if I do huh? Don't act all high and mighty when you're not.' He shouted out, and Percy glared at him, taking a ballpoint pen out of his pocket, I raised an eyebrow. The girl and Nico both slightly grinned, Percy uncapped it, and the pen morphed into a sword, I fell onto the floor, shocked. Percy smirked, stabbing the sword into the ground, a few seconds passed, and the earth trembled slightly before returning back to normal, the girl's electric blue eyes flashed, and thunder rumbled in the distance, the two cousins nodded at Nico before turning and walking away, grey clouds turning white again, and the sound of raging earth and water fading. Nico walked past Derrick before pausing, turning back and leaning down to say something, I strained to hear.
'Be careful who you mess with, mortal, especially if they're the children of the Big Three.' Nico whisper, before smirking and walking away behind Percy and the girl. I smiled, now that was cool.

Small Chests Are Fine Too
It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.
