Thought the song fit Alexander and Vita's broken friendship in the past :)

Happy Reading! :D

"You have fifteen minutes," Alexander said to me as he stood beside my bed, early in the morning.

Upon opening one eye and seeing that it was him, I pulled the covers over my head. "Knock before you enter," I grumbled.

I rolled away from him and closed my eyes, waiting to fall asleep again since I've roughly only slept for about three hours. "Always the evil early bird," I mumbled to myself, already half-asleep.

"Fifteen."

I immediately sat up, pulling the covers back down. "I can go with you today?"

He continued walking out and didn't bother to answer me. Knowing that he would actually leave me behind if I was late, I hurriedly washed my face, brushed my teeth, put on a pair of black slacks with boots and a white dress shirt. Looking over my things, I didn't know what to bring so I ran downstairs towards the kitchen.

Alexander had toasted a piece of bread and was buttering it when I ran up to him.

"Do I need to bring anything?" I asked as I stared at the piece of bread.

He didn't answer me so I swiped the toast from his grasp and saw him narrow his dark grey eyes just slightly at me.

I took a generous bite of his nicely buttered toast just to spite him. "You were ignoring me."

"I was thinking." He sighed as he grabbed the other piece and began to spread butter on that one.

"So? Do I?"

"No."

Shoving the toast in my mouth, I ran upstairs to grab my phone, wallet and laptop. I stared at my closet for a moment thinking if I should bring anything else. However, deciding not to, I ran back downstairs.

He wasn't in the kitchen anymore so I quickly made my way to the garage and saw him sitting in the black car I saw him in when I arrived at the airport.

Alexander looked down at his watch then back at me with and unimpressed look on his face.

'You're late.' His eyes said.

I sat down in the passenger seat, pulled on my seat belt and looked out the window quietly.

He drove out of his garage and we were ten minutes into the ride when I started to feel uncomfortable.

"Anything I should know about before we get there?"

"No one knows who founded the organization and we're going to keep it that way."

"Of course."

"You have to listen to me."

I rolled my eyes. "Only when you're being reasonable."

"Don't let your temper get the better of you."

I huffed. "Yeah, yeah."

Me? Temper? Never.

We drove to vast empty space and I couldn't believe what I saw.

A large building in the center with what seemed to be one way glass where people inside could see the everything outside but people on the outside could not see a thing inside. It looked like it had two floors and there was another building to the left, big, but not as huge as the center-most one, and that one also looked to have two floors. There also was a car drive through area in front of the slightly smaller one.

Right in front of both buildings were large parking lots filled with cars. However, we didn't head towards that area, we were driving to the right.

We drove downwards to what seems to be a underground parking area. Alexander parked the car and we both got out. I had to speed up to catch up with his long strides.

We stood in front of the largest building that had multiple automatic sliding doors.

"Main building." He looked in front, then turned to the left. "Infirmary. We have doctors, nurses, therapists. Second floor, forensics."

We walked in.

He began explaining the place in curt sentences like he had when he was explaining his house to me. "Left side, large food area, cafeteria. You also access the hospital wing from there are well, it's all connected. Right side are rooms and conference areas for joint task forces or places to hold meetings."

He pointed up. "Working area for many agents, no guests. No exception. Card access in elevators and at the doors if you use the stairs. Also, computers tech, security things."

The stairs were grand and one led up while right next to it, another set of stairs led downwards.

Without even sparing a look at me, he headed towards the stairs that led to the ground floor.

We reached a set of tinted double glass doors. Alexander tapped his card on a monitor near the doors and the doors slid open.

"The right side is for combat practice and training, along with areas for the special forces." He walked towards the left. He didn't need to explain what the left side was.

It seemed to be a large hallway with rooms left and right. There was a bathroom on the right and left. However, judging from the number of rooms, there weren't many units. Meaning, only a handful of people worked down here.

"All sound proofed, all glasses are bulletproof." Alexander added as we continued walking. From what I could see, the entire 'wall' of the room that faced the hallway was made with a special type of glass that the opacity can be controlled so that no one could see inside if people didn't want them to.

A few doors down, Alexander stepped in front of a glass door that the opacity was turned on to the fullest. He stepped in first and I walked in right after him. First thing I noticed was that this room was surprisingly big.

On each corner of this more so cubic than rectangular room, seemed to be workstations for each member. A large desk with a desktop. On the opposite wall of the glass one, a large screen was embedded into the wall.

"Who's that?" I heard a familiar voice speak up as soon as we entered.

Alexander stepped aside to reveal me to his teammates. At the desk on the right side of the screen was Victor. The desk straight across the room from his sat a young woman who looked a little older than I was. She had the lightest golden brown hair and the warmest deep ocean blue eyes. When she stood up, I noticed that she barely looked over 5 ft 3 in height and had a petite frame.

"Why is she here?" Victor demanded, his face absolutely unwelcoming and fierce.

I was about to taunt him when I saw the slight bruise on his jaw from when I punched him a day ago, but I decided to keep my mouth shut. Making fun of your new coworker probably wasn't going to set the best first impression.

"This is Vita Simmons. She will be a consultant for this investigation." Alexander began, his voice smooth and steady, ignoring the tension in the room.

Victor stared at me with his sea green eyes and I stared back with my icy blue ones, not wanting to back down. He stood still at his desk, not moving an inch towards me.

"Hi!" The only other woman in the room walked in front of me, breaking our eye contact. "My name is Emmaline Flores. Nice to meet you."

She stuck out her small hand with a bright smile. Slowly, I put my hand in hers and gave her hand a small shake.

Alexander didn't bother to introduce Victor and I.

"Get everything ready, we're going to catch her up when we get back."

With that, he walked out and I followed him, feeling Victor's glare all the way.

*

Alexander spent the entire morning walking me everywhere around the building to get all the documents ready. I also had to take a photo for my temporary identification card and they told me that it would be ready first thing tomorrow morning so for now, I had to stick with my new team. I also had to hand over my laptop to be checked over by security and would be ready for pick up in an hour or two.

"Can you still use one?" Alexander asked as he held a handgun.

"Of course," I answered.

He didn't necessarily seem to trust me too much with a gun at the moment so I ended up in a shooting range on site. I took a deep breath and concentrated my aim. I fired two quick shots. One hit the bulls eye on the head and the other hit the target on the chest. I've always naturally had good aim but I've also trained with weapons for years with my parents and was especially rigorously trained during the last two years.

Alexander thought for a moment then gave a soft sigh. "Guess you didn't lose your aim."

He agreed to let me keep two for safety reasons and we went to pick up my new laptop. By the time we returned back to our team room, it was late morning.

*

I looked over at the screen in front of me that was turned on.

"One week ago, we were made aware that two of our agents were missing, more specifically, captured," Alexander began. "Agents Luke Simmons and Sophie Simmons."

The profile of my dad came up. There was a standard picture of him facing the camera, expressionless. All there was on his profile was his name, age, a small paragraph describing his work in the organization and small background. There wasn't a word on him being married or me being his daughter.

Then, the profile of my mom came up as well right next to my father's. A standard picture with her age, name, and a small paragraph. Like on my father's, there was no mention of being married or me being her daughter.

Emmaline looked at the photos then at me while Victor's face darkened and he gloomily glared at the screen.

"W-what?" Emmaline's jaw dropped open and she continued to look back and forth from the screen to me.

I didn't bother to explain as I stared at the screen and into blue eyes. My father and I, we had the exact same icy blue eyes and dark brown hair.

"She shouldn't be here." Victor sneered at Alexander as his face darkened unhappily.

"Wait! She's... she's..." Emmaline trailed off as she looked back and forth from my father and me.

"Vita's their daughter." Victor didn't take his eyes off Alexander. "Why is she here?"

"She's our consultant for this case."

Victor snorted in disbelief. "Yeah, right. Why in the world does our consultant have a gun?" He looked at me. "You need to leave. You're too personally involved in this case."

"We are all personally involved." Alexander's voice was abnormally low and sounded like he was giving a warning.

Victor and Emmaline both visibly flinched and immediately became quiet. Like this, Alexander continued.

"Agent Luke Simmons' most recent mission is almost all redacted and we'll probably get access in two or three days." Alexander stopped talking and looked over at Emmaline.

She stood up a little straighter. "I've put together a list of his missions that had anything to do with an object. I'll print out a copy and give it to you."

After Emmaline finished, Victor spoke up. "I checked through the backgrounds of the ones that were caught and they don't exist, no trace. We're dealing with professionals. No surprise actually."

"Emmaline and LeBlanc," Alexander spoke up, "find the places both agents were before they were taken. We need to find who took them and find what made them targets."

"Wait a moment. What about her?" Victor glanced down at me and it pissed me off.

"She'll be checking over the phones we got the other day."

Suddenly, Emmaline gasped. "Was it you? It was wasn't it?"

I eyed her questionably.

"We had to rescue someone that was kidnapped a day ago. Apparently that person was linked to this case."

I could see the gears turning in her head as she began to piece everything together. Then, she burst out laughing and all three of us stared at her, shocked. She quickly made her way to me, took my hand and shook it fiercely up and down. Even as her laughter died away, the bright amusement twinkling in her eyes didn't.

"Oh boy, I like you already. I always thought someone should punch some sense into Victor." Her smile was bright and friendly. I couldn't help the small tilt of my lips, forming into a small smile.

Emmaline and Alexander soon sat down and began to work but Victor remained standing, staring at me. When he turned around, I went to the only desk available in here. The one right across the room from Alexander. Five phones, which I guess were from the ones we caught a day ago, were already sitting on the desk.

It must have been silent for around fifteen minutes when I couldn't stand the feeling of someone relentlessly scrutinizing my every movement. I slammed my palms on my desk loudly and stood up. By then, I felt two more pairs of eyes watching me.

Taking a deep breath, trying to control myself, I walked over to Victor's desk. He was sitting casually leaned back on his black chair. I crossed my arms as I stood in front of him, my face a blank slate.

"What is your problem?" I demanded, keeping my voice low and threatening.

Victor's voice held an underlying dangerous edge to it. "I don't know how you magically got put into our team, but I do not trust you."

"Understandable. However, I'll only be here for this case so please, at least try to be professional."

"If you were an office agent, I'll be a perfect gentleman but seeing that you have a gun of your own, I'm guessing you'll be coming out in the field with us. I refuse to work with someone I know nothing about." He stood up to his full height.

"What would you like to know?" I gritted my teeth and asked.

"Your competence. Even if I don't know you, I need to know you won't drag this team down. In this line of work, one mistake can cost lives. Many innocent lives."

"If you wanted a fight, you should have just asked me." I smirked at him. "Guess that bruise you have on your jaw wasn't enough, hm?" I moved my head side to side and rolled my shoulders back, stretching.

He narrowed his eyes at me. "This way," he said as he walked towards the door.

"Both of you, stop." I heard Alexander's voice from behind me as Victor and I approached the door.

Victor and I looked over at Alexander, who was now standing as well.

"No," Victor began. "What happened last time will not happen again. I don't know why you're being so protective of her but I need to know."

Alexander clenched his jaw as he glanced at me. He must have understood the look in my eyes because he didn't say anything as Victor and I both walked out of the door.

*

I didn't know how long Victor and I were fighting in this room cushioned with mats, but I was sweating. From the looks of Victor, he was too. I now understood the seriousness of Alexander when he said everyone in this section was heavily trained before they could even be considered to enter. Victor was highly skilled and those techniques weren't ones you could develop in a day or even a week. They took years of practice.

I had been training in different kinds of martial arts and combat since I was very young because of my parents. Seeing what he could do, he might have been on the same boat I was.

We stood away from each other, breathing heavily as we both came to an understanding. Victor smiled to himself as he walked over to me casually. I eyed him suspiciously until he reached out his right hand, offering it to me. He seemed to have turned back to the easygoing guy I met a day ago, not the unwelcoming one I met today.

"My name is Victor LeBlanc. 27."

I took his hand and shook it firmly. "Vita Simmons. 26."

Victor maintained his smile. "Welcome to the team, Agent Simmons."
