《Daughters of an Unwanting Diamond - tsundere885》◈ 11 ◈

Yellow Diamond heard a loud thud from the other hall. She didn't know who or what made the sound, so like anyone else would do, she went to it. Both her and Blue's pearl walked beside her as she went.
Her eyes widened at what she found: Blue Diamond, on the floor, coughing, and possibly in immense pain. Yellow got down on her knees. "Blue, you've got to look at me," she said sternly, placing her hand on her partner's and on her side. Blue weakly turned her head so that Yellow was in her line of sight.
"Blue Pearl, summon her Chalcedony, now," Yellow ordered, turning to face the pearl that wasn't hers. Blue Pearl complied, summoning Blue's chalcedony with her screen.
Yellow supported Blue so that she'd be sitting against the wall instead of lying on the floor. "Are you with me, darling?" she asked, lightly tugging Blue's chin so she'd look in her direction. She saw Blue turn her head toward her and moved her hand from her chin to her cheek, lightly cupping it. Blue weakly lifted her hand and softly held the one currently cupping her cheek, giving a small nod. "Y-Yes.."
"Blue, did you just start feeling this way?"
"Yes...I feel awful, and...the exact place where the baby is? It burns...badly." She coughed, using a hand to cover her mouth. Yellow put an arm around her and rubbed her shoulder.
"You'll be alright, Blue. I won't allow anything else."
"Don't speak so soon, Yellow.."
"Don't say such nonsense. Believe me, you'll be alright."
Blue kept her head down, breathing in and out heavily, but somehow, quietly. Yellow turned her head, seeing Chalcedony running down the hall. "Can she stand, my Diamond?" she asked Yellow, sounding rather calm, despite the situation.

"Blue, can you?"
"N-No, it- it hurts too much..."
"My Diamond, are you able to lift her up? Otherwise, we'll have to help her limp to the clinic."
Blue only groaned, "I don't care, I just need to be there!"
They helped Blue to somewhat stand, though she ended falling back down once or twice. All she could do was limp while Yellow held her upright. They reached the clinic door that Blue just happened to fall in front of.
"Blue, just a bit more, alright?" Yellow said, crouching to the other Diamond's level. "We'll be inside in a moment; just stand for me."
"I cannot stand anymore, what part of that do you not understand?!" Blue allowed her tears to come down in thick streams.
"Relax, Blue." Yellow helped her into the clinic and onto the bed. Chalcedony spoke up, "I'll need to have her hooked up to a machine, to make sure she's got a reasonable amount of energy to sustain herself and the child."
Yellow turned her head, grabbing Blue's hand. "What do you mean 'a reasonable amount'?"
Chalcedony fiddled with some of the equipment, saying, "Dealing with this pain could result in her losing a great deal of energy. Stars, she needs more energy when standing and pregnant than she does just standing alone. That energy needs to go to the unborn gemling as well. And if for whatever reason she is born soon, that will cost loads more energy, and if she has too little of it..."
Blue's droopy eyes became wide with fear and she only cried more out of panic. "Y-Yellow, I can't! Not when we've already got two, and if I– then she'll..." The rest of her sentence came out in sobs.
Yellow could only feel sympathetic, now. She pulled Blue closer, shushing her. "Breathe, Blue. You will make it, I promise." Blue only coughed between sobs. Yellow pondered aloud, "That cough is starting to concern me.."

Blue looked up at Yellow, her bottom lip trembling. "Yellow...t-the girls are alright, aren't they?" Yellow cupped her cheek with her left hand. "Of course they are, Blue." Blue hunched forward and gripped get stomach tighter. "Can you send the pearls to watch them? P-Please?" yellow looked toward the Pearl's, who stood dutifully at the door. "Pearls, you know your job." Both pearls made the diamond sign, fused, then went off to the nursery.
Blue coughed once more, more violent and forced than the last few. It left her rubbing her throat, then the area just above her gem. It also left her breathless. She relaxed into the pillows supporting her, taking deep breaths. She'd been hooked up to the machine by now, and she looked at the monitor attached to it.
"Is- Is that enough to keep her and I alive?" Blue asked, shakily. Chalcedony answered, "Yes, my Diamond. You and your gemling should be fine." Blue let out a small whimper and rubbed her stomach. Yellow looked down, "Come now, Blue, what's troubling you?"
"What if I don't get to see our baby, Yellow?" "Blue, you will." "You don't know that! I...I wouldn't want you to instill false hope within yourself and within me, if fate has other plans. And...and the girls..." "Blue, we can't afford stress right now, not when your energy amount is on the line currently." "S-Sorry...Ah— Ow..." Now Blue felt sore. It didn't burn—well, yes, it still did—but now there was just pain that felt oddly familiar. She was convinced that steady, patterned breaths would ease it; that technique seemed rather familiar, too..
"What's the matter?" Yellow asked, resting a hand on her lover's stomach. "A jolt of pain, is all. Don't worry." A few more patterned breaths, and she let out a sigh of relief when it was over. "It feels so familiar to me," she went on.
"Familiar..." Chalcedony mumbled, then said aloud, "Does it feel like a contraction, my Diamond?" Her Diamond's eyes widened. "That's...It felt exactly like one.." "Chances are that since it felt like one, it is one, meaning there'll be more." "No.." Blue said the word quieter than a whisper, over and over.
They all decided to wait a few minutes and see if another "contraction" came. And it did. It had her hunched over in a heartbeat, wincing and groaning. That forward jolt took away 6% of her energy. Yellow rubbed her back. "Blue, believe me, I understand that this is hurting you, but try not to have such a sudden reaction; it's hurting you." "I know...I'm so sorry, only...this one is longer lasting and stronger. It hurts so much more, in a horrific way..."
Her vision then became strange. She saw two of everything, then three, almost four, then back to two. She saw Yellow speaking to Chalcedony about something as her own frame began to sway a bit. It caught Yellow's attention right away.
"Blue," she said a bit loud, tugging Blue's chin just a bit so that she could look in her direction. She snapped her fingers, "Blue, are you still with me?" She earned a weak nod from her, but Blue weakly lifted her gloved hand off her shoulder, only for her to fall back, eyes three-quarters-of-the-way lidded and now unconscious, onto the pillows.

This quest will either see von Bolstedt's shaken faith in his own god reforged into an intolerant blade, or shattered like ice. Word from the AuthorGreetings! Witch Hunt plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This is the second part of the adventures of Adebar von Bolstedt, as such I recommend reading part one, titled "The Hand of Sigmar" first. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.
