《Daughters of an Unwanting Diamond - tsundere885》◈ 5 ◈

Another checkup gone by, five months pregnant, and not a single word said to Yellow. Sure, Blue was timid, but five months was the longest she'd ever gone without speaking to someone. In a strange way, it felt good. She needed a break from Yellow, but this vacation from her felt even better!
Blue sat on her chair, one hand tapping away at a screen, the other resting on her stomach, which was now one month larger. Of course, she liked feeling the gemlings and looking down at them. However, she couldn't stop thinking about "The Late One," as she and her Chalcedony called her.
So many thoughts ran through her head, it gave her a headache. Would she get to full-term? Would she be harmed during the birth? Would she die in her arms? Would she — and this was one of the scariest thoughts in her mind. — Would she miscarry?
Blue hated that thought, but it always came back. She thought it was awful, the thought of not even getting to see this being — outside of an ultrasound, of course. Every time she thought of that, her fists would clench, her lips would press together tightly, and her eyes would get wet with tears.
That made her think about what The Late One would look like, as well as her sisters. Blue had made the assumption that they'd all be green. Therefore, she'd want to give them names that meant "green" or "lively." It's fine; she'd figure out their names when she saw them.
One of the gemlings kicked her hard, just above where her navel would be. She knew for sure it wasn't The Late One. From yesterday's appointment, she could see that The Late One had barely even developed a body, yet. Meanwhile, the other two looked the same as a five month-old human fetus on an ultrasound.

"You know I don't listen, don't you, Blue?"
Blue practically jumped in her seat at the sound of the voice of the last person she wanted to see. Yellow stood in the doorway, leaning on the side, with her arms crossed.
"Out," Blue said firmly.
"I'd obey that statement if Pink said it, but never you. Not now, at least."
"Yellow, don't bring her into this. Please."
"Well—you told me not to go up to you, but to have you come to me. What's going on now, Blue?" Yellow gave her a glare that said, "Gotcha there, s**t-head."
"This 'conversation' would be better if you weren't part of it, and if it wasn't being had. Please. Leave."
"There's a conversation to be had, and it is much different than this. Handle this sensibly, would you?"
"When I'm ready, Yellow! You're certainly ready, but am I? What do you think the answer to that is?"
"Quite frankly, I don't care."
Blue slammed her fist down onto the armrest.
Yellow kept her eyes on her raging counterpart, turning her nose up a bit.
"You do things when you're ready, not me! Whenever I ask to do things, which clearly means I'm ready, you turn me down every! single! time! You couldn't wait for anyone to be ready for anything if your life depended on it!"
"Blue, be sensible—"
"You make that sound easy for someone who simply can't do that. And also, the only reason I yell is because I don't know how else to get you to listen! You don't listen!"
She gritted her teeth, trying not to let tears fall.
"'Be sensible!' you say, but you act like a child."
She threw a hand in the air. "I'm just waiting for your first tantrum,

Yellow huffed out her nose, shutting her eyes and turning her head to the side. Her fists were clenched tightly.
"You say, 'Your way or no way, and that's final.' Go on, treat the other gems like that, I don't care. But you cannot act like that to your equal!"
She teetered on the edge of sobbing, "You're...You're never fair to me!"
Blue sighed forcefully, then pressing her lips together.
"I don't know why I'm bothering with you now, because you are never going to listen."
She leaned back in her chair, pinching the skin between her eyes. She huffed, "Have you heard what you needed?"
Silence.
"Then leave."
Yellow left the room in a surprisingly calm way. Her eyes were glued to the floor, but her face was pointed in the direction she was walking in.
Blue threw her head back, not caring how hard it would hit the back of the chair. She had her hand clamped over her mouth, and eyes burned from trying to hold in her tears, before. Crying always felt relieving to her, but now, every tear felt like a knife in her proverbial heart.
Her Pearl lept onto the armrest that Blue had her elbow resting on. She wrung her hands, messing with her slim fingers, all while looking at her Diamond. She took a small step forward, then put her hand on her Diamond's forearm.
Though it was barely audible, Blue heard her say, "I'm so sorry, my Diamond..."
Blue turned her head toward her and gave her a sad smile.
"No. I'm sorry."
Blue Pearl's eyes widened behind her bangs. "If I may, why?"
"Because you had to witness that." Blue clenched her teeth together, then realized something. "Pearl. Get Yellow's pearl. Now. I know that she will call no other gems for a while, but her pearl, according to guidelines, has to be next to her. She doesn't if I call for her. She'll be with me for a bit. Go on."
"Yes, my Dia—"
Blue Diamond held up her hand. "Blue."
"Blue."
Blue Pearl rushed to Yellow's room.
"M-My Diamond?" Blue Pearl asked, saluting her. "Blue Diamond has requested that she sees your Pearl?"
"Take her," was all Yellow Diamond said, making a "shoo-shoo" motion with her hand.
Blue Pearl frantically gestured for Yellow Pearl to come with her, not wanting to be in the same room as an angry Diamond much longer. When the two pearls made it to Blue's room, Blue smiled at the yellow one.
"You'll be with me for a bit, Yellow Pearl."
"Why? I-If I may, my Diamond."
"I don't want you in the same room as an angry Yellow. I'd just like your physical form to stay intact, that's all."
Yellow Pearl nodded, "If you see that it is necessary, then I do too, my Diamond."
Blue Diamond gave a nod of compliance.
"...Good."
