The Dragon impacted the ground with the force of an avalanche. Garion's steed panicked and reared up throwing him to the ground before bolting in the opposite direction of the dragon. Mariana managed to keep hold of the saddle as her own mount panicked. The spooked horse attempting to bolt itself before ultimately calming. Captain Thorne and the small group horses seemed more experienced in battle instead bolted towards the foe. As the group closed in on the dragon it unblurred it's wings and waved its long scaly tail menacingly in the air. Garion stood up from the ground. Jezta’s small feline form darted in front of Garion. “You cant engage. Turn Back.” The familiar said to Garion. The voice he projected into Garion’s mind one of panicked fear. This through Garion off. Jezta was his familiar but familiars weren't suppose to order there oath bound wizards. They where bound only to advise.

The ground shook again. Mariana rounded on Garion and the familiar. “Garion” she shouted. “Stay the hell down. If you cant hide yourself with any magic tricks now is the time.” She screamed at him. He crouched down to the familiar. “What are you going to do?” Garion yelled to her over the dragons roar. “I'm going to help the other slayers. Stay hidden” she screamed back before digging here heals into her horse and charging into the valley below. Garion crouched over the Familiar. “fine” he thought to the small creature. “we will watch from here” Garion pulled the creature inside his cloak and drew the hood down over her fore head. He pulled the drawstring around the neack closed up to below his eyes. He muttered a word into the material of the cloak and felt its protective enchainment whirling into motion deep within the fabric. He turned his attention to the valley below.

The valley was a large shallow sloping bowl shape. Maybe it had once been farm land but the plants hand long retaken the land. The where a few small tree scatted within. Garion watched as Mariana caught up with the five slayers charging toward the beast. It would bes seconds before the came into the dragons vision now. Garion hoped they would seceded as the six horses and the armoured riders crossed what may have once been a hedgerow.

This time is was the armoured group of slayers who roared. There own deafening battle-cry ripped through the air. Garion new the other guild ultilized magic in there own way, even the inquisitors used some aspects of magical craft but Gariona had neither thought of the dragon slayers in terms of being magically powerful. Only now did he realise he was wrong. The battle cry the slayers let fourth was laced with magical energy, a challenge in the form of a wave of magical sound. The dragon roared its head raising up to look down at the source of the noise, it opened its mouth again and let fourth a great breathe of fire.

The flames bellowed across the gap between the dragon and the charging group of slayers in a heart beat. The group moved to evade. Only two thirds of them managed to. One going up in flames and being reduced to ash in seconds. The second unlucky dragon slayers mount was caught with a glance hit from the fire as he leaped away. The mount bolted as the flames engulfed it. Its ride let out a blood curdling scream as both rider and horse burned away to ashes. The sound would haunt Garions memories for years to come.

The dragon whipped its tail. Breaking the horse to the left of the pack and sending its rider to the ground with a sickening thud.

The three remaining flayer corps members charged at the dragon charging there steads under its great unfurling wings and with practised precision stabbing the membranes through. Piercing holes in unison rendering the dragon unable to fly. The dragon screamed in agony and flapped and beat its wings. Panicked as it discovered its sudden loss of its exit strategy.

It stamped its claws into the ground and whipped its tail into another of the slayers who met the same fate as his fallen companion. Garion couldn't tell who was left. “is that Mariana” he thought to Jezta. The tiny cat moved to get a better look through a small gap in the cloak, “I believe so, yes that is the throne siblings still standing” Garion heart beat faster. There was a strong chance he would witness his companions die today. “i have to help” said Garion out loud.

“You cannot help. All you will do is get in there way.” thought Jezta. “Dragon fire will burn through your cloak and all your spell will be useless against its defences.” This was true. Garion knew it. So he reached up and took off the cloak. Ignoring Jezta's protests he took the small leather cord from around his neck and placed it and the acorn contained with around the cats neck. “If anything goes wrong take the form of an owl. Take this necklace and my clock back to the Green Sleeves. Tell them what happened to me.” Garion said to the familiar lacing the words with a small amount of magical energy. Jezta mauled in protest. As Garion straighten his tunic took up his staff from the ground and made his way towards the dragon waiting below.

The dragon fire had long burned out, it had left the once green valley a smouldering wasteland. Garion was sickened by the devastation and loss of life to the plants and animals that had once called this place home. He climbed over a mound of rubble that had been the hedgerow like boundary of the arena and cross into view of the fighting.

It was with some relief that he saw the two siblings where still in the fight. As Garion drew closer he saw they had began a series of manoeuvrers around its body and legs forcing the beast to look at either one of the other. As soon as the dragon turned he attention to one the other slayer would dart forwards and slice at the drakes body. As Garion drew closer, the beast turned its attention to the new threat. It let out a roar. Both dragon slayers took the opportunity to charge land dual hits to either side of it chest the dragon lurched forwards towards Garion its legs buckling from the pain. It focused he eyes on the cloakless wizard.

The dragon tried to draw breathe. It failed. A scent of blood burned through the air. Garion felt the air between himself and the dragon pulse with magical power. The creature let out a pained cry. Garion's dragon tongue was basic but he understood the word. “BURN” the dragon cried with its final breathe. The air between the dragon and the wizard ignited. The world burned around Garion. He felt his knees give way. Burning filled his nostrils. Everything went black as he felt his head hit the ground.
