《The Earth, Forgotten》II

It has been proven throughout history that the left behind fragments of a society can stand the test of time; usually, they hold some resemblance to what they once were, and because of that, one is able to learn about the way that that society lived.

Eris—one of the acclaimed “dwarf planets” of Sol—is a great distance from the Sun. In its prime, much like most of the planets and moons that are spread throughout the solar system, Eris housed a multitude of peoples, and it too had its own society that peaked before the collapse of mankind in Sol. Much like the moon of Jupiter known as Io, Eris was a high point in Sol’s human history, and because of this, a massive metropolis was housed on the dwarf planet. After a long time though, the society on Eris collapsed, and—much like the society on Earth—it was forgotten and left to be washed away in the sands of time.

The skeleton of the cities that once used to stand upon Eris’ terrain still stands there at this very moment. But, even though they continue to tower over the once barren landscape, no one is there to behold their glory and their magnificence. The cities on Eris were a testament to the strength and power of man, much like all of the other megalopolis that are spread about the system: Venus, Mars, Earth, Mercury and its child Mercury-Epsis, Luna, Io, Makemake, and all of the other highly populated celestial objects.
