《Birds of a Feather》Kingsnakes

“Are you sure?” The ‘Sparrow’ asked, “It looks like it's just an empty warehouse.” The two vigilantes sat perched on a fire escape a block down from a big square building watching.
‘Crow’ reassured him, “Yeah, after you left I got the name of a gang that was supposedly planning something tonight, The Kingsnakes.”
The Sparrow cocked an eyebrow, “Yeah then why aren’t the police here?”
“Simple,” the boy in black said, “They don’t know where it was going down. I do.” James looked at him incredulously. “What? I threw a few guys into dumpsters earlier tonight. The fifth guy finally decided telling me what I wanted to know was easier to stomach than week old fettuccine.”
Nearly an hour later Adem elbowed James and whispered, “Look.” A kid probably no more than seventeen in a ratty tank top and athletic shorts was heading toward the warehouse nervously looking back and forth and over his shoulder. Crow smirked, “That’ll do.”
The two hooded figures quietly hopped from the fire escape and crept up behind the boy. Crow grabbed him from behind and grabbed him by the mouth to keep him from screaming. Sparrow brandished a baton and made a shushing motion. They dragged him into a dark alley.
Sparrow calmly told the kid, “Now we’re gonna ask you a few questions and if you’re real good we won’t even knock you out. Got it?”
The young gangbanger nodded. Adem let him go and took up a position next to James who started questioning him, “Who do you work for!”
Before the boy could answer Adem cut him off, “Really?” He looked at James quizzically. “You know who we are right?” The boy nodded again. “Good. Tell me what is happening with the Kingsnakes tonight.”

“Uh … I don’t … I mean .... you stopped me before … the new boss said.”
“New boss?” Sparrow asked, poking him with a baton.
“Yeah a guy showed up a couple weeks ago and offed the old leadership and started giving orders. A couple guys tried to give it to him but they showed up with bullets in the brain so nobody was up for disobeying.”
“What’s he after. Who is he?” Crow prodded grimacing at the kid.
“Yeah I don't really know man. He’s not the usual banger. He wears fancy suits and shit. I heard from some guys that he said something about that big company - uh - Bones or something.”
Crow lets out a heavy sigh, “Bonum? Bonum Tech?” The boy nodded once again. Adem’s eyes sparkled as he turned away.
James takes the moment and notices a handgun tucked in the boy’s shorts. “What’s your name, kid?”
“Michael.” He gulped.
“Well, Michael,” James looked at this young kid, “I’m taking this,” he said as he took the gun from him disassembled it and threw the pieces around the alley, “And you’re gonna go home and pretend you never heard of the Kingsnakes. If me or my friend see you as much as jaywalking we’re gonna have problems. Understood? And please don’t just nod again.”
Michael started to nod then stammered, “Understood,” and stumbled off into the city.
Turning to his partner James questioned, “I know that look event through those goggles. What is it?”
“I’m not sure and that’s exactly what's bothering me. Bonum isn’t some small time local business; it's a multi-billion dollar company.” Just then from the shadows of the alley the two saw about a dozen police cruisers fly down the street. “Damn, turns out the SPD isn’t completely incompetent. We gotta head out.”
