《The Sister In The Forest(Cancelled)》25: Bria's and Daniel's Quest to Make Their Neighbourhood Happy #1

On a humid night, Bria walked out of the house wearing a waterproof purple coat, she had a few pennies and notes tucked in her pockets where her hands were going inside later on. Cuddling herself to shield herself from the bitterness that flooded Northumbria as puffs of cloudy balls streamed out of her mouth as she said goodbye to her husband. Bria made sure she locked up the door and watched where she was walking to step over puddles that filtered over the paths from the rain that did not seem to stop at all. She was heading to the nearest Tescos so the house didn't run out of supplies, Bria crossed the slippery road after shuffling through the confusing neighbourhood and looked both ways before extending over the road that was packed at this hour and moving into the silent town where not many people were seen shopping at this hour.

She turned on the right and kept walking straight, peeking through the windows of closed-down shops to distract herself from not being nervous by walking alone, even though the crime rate was very low and was rare to have crime happen in this town. She focused on the corner of a path that stopped before carrying on the other side, drunken men and women stumbled out the pub, laughing their heads off, not paying to Bria who strolled by, sniffing the strong alcohol that came off their body. The pub was the only thing illuminating the entire street except for the twenty-four-hour Tescos with scintillating lighting far in the distance with its distinctive symbol in Newtext bold font. As the boisterous crowds of drunkies quietened down the further Bria hurried away from the area, came a reserved hum leaving the enormous shop, the immediate Bria went in, tenderness swarmed her and loosened her. Bria read down the list of what she wanted and brought every item on a hampered budget. After getting everything she wanted, she headed back out of the shop.

Bria took off her boots after arriving at her house and knocked on the door. She waited for a moment until the door opened to be greeted by her husband. The heater was on and it welcomed Bria with all its care. Bria chuckled and wrapped her arms around Daniel, pecked him on the lips and hung up her coat on the staircase barrier. She rubbed her hands together to generate more heat to her body while she watched a show Daniel was watching as she sat down on the settee.

"Should we start putting up Christmas decorations?" Daniel consulted, stroking through Bria's hair as she dropped her head on Daniel's shoulders.

"Isn't that bit too early?" Bria responded.

"So what if it's the tenth of November, this neighbourhood needs some positive atmosphere. And I think decorating the house would fit it," Daniel retorted.

"That's fair, let's get the stuff down from the loft and we'll do it all this week," Bria chittered.

And so they did, Daniel pulled down the decorations from inside the loft and began decorating the living room by placing a fake tree in the left corner next to the television, decorated with glittering balls and cuddled with strings of lights. Flashy LED lights went around the ceiling and out into the hallway where they wrapped up the staircase, shiny yellow paper-based snowballs were hanging from the living room and gonks placed beside the Christmas tree finished off the interior. Outside was a struggle but Daniel got the hang of it very well, he used a stiff ladder to clip blue and white beaming lights across the roof to let it all hang, placed three glowing stars under the window that peeked inside the kitchen on the left. More lights were placed on the walls of the house until they stopped at the garden; a reindeer feeding its baby was positioned on the edge of the front garden. It took Bria and Daniel two non-stop days to finish it all off, but they sure felt glad to see their decorations glowing in the bleak neighbourhood.

"Ah, I feel the joy already," Daniel smiled.

"I can't wait to see how excited the neighbourhood would react to some positivity!" Bria snickered like a mischievous toddler, dragging her husband inside the house to watch every Christmas film or program they could fumble upon.

Bria staggered over to the upstairs toilet facing down the stairs, closed the door behind her as she looked at herself in the mirror, seeing her mascara drenched across her face. Bria yawned as she hesitated a moment after turning on the tap, shoved her face under the tap and nicely washed the mascara off her face before heading down the stairs, mesmerised by the Christmas decorations. She rubbed her eyes as she makes herself a tea, once the tea was made - Bria opened the front door to check the mailbox like she always casually does, hoping her letter was seen and responded to by Aaron, as the door screeched and was pushed open, Bria was hit with her neighbourhood street glowing with Christmas decorations.

"Good morning, Bria!" An old lady standing outside her decorated house greeted Bria.

"Good Morning, Susan!" Bria responded, waving gleefully.

"Merry early Christmas!"
