《The Great War: Saturn's Factory》Chapter 21: Grandma Knows Best

"Grandma Hailey?" Nate asked in bewilderment.
"Who the fuck is she?" Gleen asked.
"I'm the person who's gonna turn your ass inside out if you talk like that again young boy!" Hailey shouted at Gleen. Spittle from her old mouth flying in his face.
"How in the fuck are you going to do that?" Gleen asked annoyed.
Challenged for her authority, grandma Hailey was known in her youth as the 'Iron Fister'. Nate only knew this because he had heard her friends talk about it once when he was in earshot. He never knew why she was called that until now.
Grandma Hailey pulled out a large iron fist. Cloaked in spikes of all shapes and kinds, you got red spikes, then there were red spikes... It was only red spikes. Nate didn't know why he thought it was all different, probably due to him slowly bleeding out.
"You know boy, I didn't make these spikes red with paint," Hailey said threateningly as she walked slowly towards Gleen.
Gleen was very confused about how to act. On one hand, he was being threatened and needed to strike back, on the other the person threatening him was a small and frail grandmother. And Gleen would feel awful if he had to fill her up with buckshot for fairly obvious reasons.
Thankfully he didn't have to choose as Hailey hurled her big spanking iron fist straight at Gleen. He dodged to the side instantly as it shot forward with incredible speed. Gleen watched as it smashed through the already cracked window easily.
Gleen wasn't able to observe any further when Nate tackled him to the ground.
"Come on grandma Hailey, you need to leave right now!" Nate yelled as he wrestled with Gleen on the cold hard ground.
Gleen smashed his head straight into Nate's face. The strike doing nothing but infuriating the Indian man.
Nate retaliated by smashing his forehead into Gleen's nose. The attack struck with the force of a hairdryer but it managed to leave Gleen's nose bleeding.
Which was something.
Grandma Hailey was busy doing something else, scrounging out kitchen forks and knives. She had run out of things to throw with her iron fist so she needed something else.
Gleen punched Nate in the stomach before kneeing him in the gut. Quickly Nate folded himself up, grabbing his gut as he wheezed.

Gleen got ready to punch Nate again only for Nate's foot to smash into his junk.
Gleen screamed like a choir girl. His hands instantly going to his junk as he cradled it.
Nate smashed his foot into Gleen's balls a second time. Gleen's scream echoing out of the room and into the hallway. Forcing Nate's neighbors to wake up and check out the source of the noise.
"Shut up you bitch!" Grandma Hailey yelled as she hurled the knives and forks she had collected at Gleen, or at where she though Gleen was. It was fair to note that Hailey was blind as a bat during the day, which meant her throwing around sharp objects went about as well as giving a True Birther a gun when they're right next to a school filled with Vat-Born children.
Knives and forks rained down on the two helpless men, Gleen screamed as forks dove in headfirst into his legs, a few even managing to slice into the crotch.
Nate yelled in surprise as knives fell down on him. several stabbing him in his unprotected flesh. Nate rolled around and shake and did anything he could to get the knives out of him.
Now while shaking out your knives usually wasn't the best strategy or a strategy at all. Nate had lost around half a liter of blood. Which made his poor choice all the more reasonable.
Nate collided with Gleen, both yelling and screeching as they tried to get the sharp kitchen utensils out of themselves.
Grandma Hailey meanwhile had run out of things to throw and quickly left to her apartment to get more.
Nate was punched in the face by Gleen, his head hitting the back of a ripped apart table which had totaled by Gleen during his first attack.
Nate's consciousness drifted away as Gleen slowly got up and ripped out the last forks in his balls. He turned towards the unconscious Nate. His hands instantly went for any sort of firearms. He couldn't use knives, they were a nightmare to use on yourself.
His hand's grasped the handle of a firearm, he instantly pointed it vaguely towards Nate's direction and fired.
The bullet left and smashed through what remained of the window.
Gleen's arm remained fine though. Gleen looked and still found an alive Nate, so he fired again. The bullet shooting out the window. Gleen was currently experiencing a forced log out by his brain. This usually happened when the body experienced great amounts of pain and had to turn the consciousness off to have the body's mind remain sane.

And nothing was more painful than a fork to the junk. As Gleen swayed like a drunk, he fired his last bullet. The round shot forward and nicked Nate's ear.
Nate immediately jerked up, blood running down the side of his head. He quickly grabbed a fork and charged into Gleen. Or he tried too.
Nate tripped on a random piece of glass, his charge turning into a tumble as he crashed into Gleen.
Both he and Gleen remained in a tangle of limbs for an entire minute, punching, kicking, and head-butting each other.
Grandma Hailey came back with her spare iron fist and swung blindly. Her fist struck Nate in the eye and Gleen in the back of the head. Sending both into the apartment's wooden floor.
Nate and Gleen slowly got up. Nate with his back to the window, and Gleen's back to grandma Hailey. It ended badly.
Grandma Hailey swung her fist straight into Gleen's back. The attack sending him flying into Nate.
Both stumbled, Nate being nearly pressed out of the window. Both looked down at the street below, filled to the brim with cars and pedestrians, some looking up to see what had caused the shower of glass on the sidewalk.
"Nate, you better get out the way!" That was all Gleen heard when he felt a lurch on his back, he quickly tilted with Nate in a pseudo embrace as they plummeted to their death.
Gleen and Nate both lost their consciousness as they crashed into a horse-drawn cart. Grandma Hailey's iron fist smashed into the head of the driver with a brutal 'splat'.
The carriage went wild as it sped through the crowd.
"You really didn't need to come to pick me up," Jack said as he and Babina walked through the sidewalk.
"No, you got injured. So it's my duty as your work partner to help you."
Jack sighed at Babina's kindness. He had been caught and injured because he had been stupid, with any other partner you had to walk back to base by yourself. And there were times when the job was done and your partner had left, leaving you stranded. And with them a new accomplice for missions.
But Babina hadn't done that, more so she couldn't. This was an important mission, and her first mission as well. So she couldn't just leave her partner, both for moral and practical reasons.
Babina had also told him of the thing that had injured him and chased her.
It didn't sound pleasant or even possible. But science was if anything magical with the stuff it came up with.
As Babina and Jack walked to their base, they came across a peculiar scene. That of a grandma holding an iron fist yelling at a police officer.
The Grandma had fair white skin marked and wrinkled with age, her eyes were a milky white. And Jack wondered if she could even see. Then there was her iron fist which she was waving around, the weapon having been crudely painted.
"What's going on?" Babina asked.
"Well, several people called in a noise complaint and we investigated. We found this hag waving around a weapon. Apparently, some neighbors had a scuffle which led to the noise," the officer said.
"It wasn't a scuffle it was a right old fight!" The old woman yelled.
The officer rolled his eyes. "A fight usually doesn't end with two men throwing themselves out of a window and disappearing," the officer said.
"And I'm telling you it just did!" The old woman yelled.
"Captain, we just found a ripped apart carriage in the ports," said another policeman as they jogged to meet the officer, no captain.
"Hm. Guess this old crow's story may be based on a bit more truth."
The old lady smoldered at being called an 'old crow' but nodded.
"So then, what were the names of the two fighters?" The captain asked.
"I don't remember the other but the first one was a man I've who's been my neighbor for around several years. Nate Vis, I believe."
"Fuck," Jack cursed.
Birthed are those men and women who were birthed not from the Vats. But from normal everyday citizens, Birthed can apply to any person. Even a person with Vat-Born heritage. Though this is usually not the case as around sixty percent of Vat-Born are incapable of having children without the use of Vats or another such tech.

"It's funny that you think the choice is up to you babydoll." Delrick's icy tone sends chills through my core. All I can do is back up in an attempt to escape, seemingly running into a wall. Though as rough hands circle their way around my waist I knew it was Dominic that was holding me. "When in reality you have no control at all." My head snaps to the voice belonging to the youngest of the Valentine brothers, Dalton, as he makes his way towards me. Dominic's hand wraps around my throat possessively making me arch my back into him. This gives Delrick clear access to my lips as I look up at him, in which he wastes no time. His lips meet my own hungrily. "Who do you belong to Annalise." Dalton gathers my blonde hair into his hand, tugging making me break my kiss. "Daddies."***Cover made by @brookecastellan10***
