《Clarent Saga: Chronicles》10. Ouzo, The Druggist (2)

‘No! Absolutely not!’ said Primus when they introduced Ouzo to him in the common room of Kardia’s inn, affectionately known as “The Worn Out Shield”. ‘First you persuade me to let a prostitute come with us, now you want to bring a filthy Wolf Clanner along?’
Horatio felt a pang of empathy in his chest for both Wyvera and Ouzo at the Professor’s words. A runaway prostitute and a Wolf Clanner they may be, but they were still…people too, weren’t they?
Ouzo didn’t show any signs of seeming to mind, though. Or maybe he was just used to this attitude, so common among Gardians, by now. He just looked blankly at Primus, continuing to pant quietly with his tongue slightly out, as if awaiting a final explicit decision.
‘What’s the problem, old man?’ said Egea. ‘We could use an apothecary. Or a druggist. Or whatever. He can pay his own way and having another party member with us just means we’ll attract more and stronger monsters, which will net us more treasure, which means more gold!’
‘Yes,’ nodded Ceres, ‘and the doors of Qind are always open, remember. If this gentle…wolf wants to come with us then who are we to refuse him hospitality and turn him away? If Wyvera was allowed to come along, then Ouzo should be too.’
Horatio was not particularly motivated by either of those reasons, but he liked the druggist’s enthusiasm and sincere nature. He didn’t see any harm in the Wolf Clanner coming along. So he thought he better make a contribution this time too, especially if it would please Ceres. ‘He also knows some ice magic, and he has quite a large axe,’ he said.
Primus put his head in both hands. ‘I can’t believe this,’ he murmured from behind them.

‘Face it old man,’ said Egea, ‘you’re not strong enough to fend off all of the monsters you’ll meet while out travelling, especially if looking for your granddaughter ever takes you off the roads, and the rest of us can opt out at any time. You’re kinda at our mercy here.’
‘FINE!’ erupted Primus, taking his hands away from his face. ‘But he has to audition like she did!’ he yelled, gesturing to Wyvera. ‘And we’re leaving right now! The innkeeper here put up a girl matching Olvia’s description two nights ago, and said she left continuing North afterwards, in the direction of Kirts. We’re gaining on her, even after that stupid tetrachamber nonsense. We leave now! ’
‘You won’t regret this, sir!’ Ouzo as Primus began walking towards the exit of the inn.
‘See to it that I don’t,’ huffed Primus with irritation. ‘Come on, everyone!’
They left the inn and, freshly stocked with supplies, left Kardia, getting back onto the North Road.
Soon enough, they were set upon by a group of monsters.

Author's Note. This is book 7! Please feel free to hop on and enjoy! If you find you like my writing style, I hope you'll check out the first 6 books, all available to read on Kindle Unlimited, link below!) Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing. The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end. Cancer. That ugly, terrible word. He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted to nothing under the ravages of his illness. And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world. He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of. All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world. In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans. After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose? Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out. (Authors Note: Books 1-6 are now live on Amazon and here is a link if you wanted to check it out! And I will continue to post chapters to Book 6 here first, until that tale is told! I hope you enjoy! And if you wanted to help support my work by checking out book 1 on Amazon, I would be extremely grateful!)

The Symphonia Of Erde (DISCONTINUED) (ARCHIVED)
Jakob Fowlhunter and Marie Budgerigar are bounty hunters who are always on the road; travelling from town to town, city to city, in search for wanted criminals that would fetch them some decent amount of gold in exchange for their life. A wicked job for wicked people as they say, but things weren't easy as it seems when THEY themselves are always on the run. Whether from vengeful barons or rivals with personal vendetta, there are always those who wanted them captured dead or alive (mostly dead though). But all of it would soon change when the two stumbled upon another curious duo; a former knight-wannabe adventurer and a travelling humanitarian doctor who isn't exactly a human. From there on, it's an all out adventure for four of them as they ventured across all of Erde; a world of wondrous magic, mystical beings, legendary warriors, kings of great and terrible, mighty dragons of all shapes and sizes and other stuff you would expect coming from a fantasy world archetype.

The Hopeful Project
A pair of twins stumble their way into the world of blood magic, lizard people, and cultivation powered mecha-armor. And by stumble, I mean one of them falls on their face while the other laughs. [Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.
