Chapter 9: Rising up in the world
Gravity overcomes grace and form at a certain mass level Sara Stark
With a bright start to the day, my day. A week has passed and finally I have peace of mind knowing I’m safe. I even have a small amount of security keeping an eye on my home. I quickly eat some lunch, with a glance at the window I think it’s time I enjoy a more exotic form of transport to work. Running with toast in my mouth I pack a small bag and get a special suit on, tough 1 piece that zips up. Jumping into the now dubbed JPFS, not very cool. Jet propelled flight suit. We nicknamed it, BAT. Black Awesome Traveller. With a new bit of paint its real stylish.
With all its improvements, it’s a marvel of technology and cheap on the fuel to boot. I love it and this is my first time using it outside of tested flights. Its not perfect the one I’m using is ungodly expensive with many improvements. See without gravity the weight limiter on flight-based gear is no problem so they stuffed it with so much heavy tech it’s a walking million-dollar suit. Without breaking copywrite they really tried to make a real Iron man suit. I don’t technically own it, not anymore with all the expensive upgrades I’m lucky I get to use it. Since I built the foundation, I’m allowed to use it for transport under the clause of testing purposes. It made me a small celebrity.
The current project is producing a dumbed down version for resale to the masses, a few limitations make it a lot of work. It needs to be simple to build, cost effective, use the minimum possible amount of gravity crystal (the most expensive part) and be safe to use. We have made a lot of progress; we will produce 2 types. Wing type suits “WPFS” and “JPFS”. The latter being the premium version.

Even keeping costs down, it needs a parachute, for safety reasons. In its broken-down form it’s a aluminium exoskeleton, pretty thin, just enough to keep the wind out although the wing type has less protection since you cant reach the same speeds the jet produces. It has 2 large wings either as the arms or mechanically powered on the back. A gyroscope, a radio and basic sight protection. The gyroscope for orientation and the radio for information mandatory for flight-based transport.
Now we realised we can’t just throw them into the public it would be a mess. So first to drum up attention we unloaded a massive advertisement campaign “The future of travel”. We created a branch company named Weightless. The goal to produce antigravity travel technology and potentially advance in other directions as well in the future. Before we can sell the product, we needed to make sure they would be used correctly so until laws are produced that restricts its sale, we created a licence system which is a flight test in both wing suit and jet suits. Along with a small theory to make sure they know flying laws. The licence is free with any jet suits but costs a small fee for wing suits. A deal we are doing.
During the next 2 weeks we finalise the product, working hard to keep costs down while keeping it safe and affordable. We created a custom stamp that’s almost impossible to replicate and a marking licence plate style on the back for tracking mis use of the products and making sure we come off as reliable. The licence plate is also secretly engraved on every part of the suit.
While we were creating these suits, another company sprung up called “Move it Move it” Definitely a young businessmen or businesswomen from the name. They started selling expensive construction orientated devices. They help transporting large loads of materials. Two products were realised, one for transporting massive loads across long distances safely, hint it keeps it in the air with a gyroscope a rope and a small propulsion device, ingeniously designed even in its simplicity. Good for them. And a smaller product that created a directed antigravity field using sliding tungsten plates that allows zones to be created for ease in using heavy materials. Il have to politely use aspects of that idea its very smart.

I order 1 of each product that day for cough research.
After the final day we head to an event we booked where we will show off the new suits and offer collectors edition type suits. Many times, more expensive with gold plating, small gem encrusting and many advanced bits of tech. Designed to last it has a very durable design even in its advanced tech.
While we are doing that, we deliver a couple suits to the police, government approved of course for apprehension of misused suits. So, it’s a fair playing field and we needed to show some good will otherwise laws might hit us hard. We also invest in sending a 10 wing suits and 3 jet suits to several online social media outlets like youtubers and some more rich people who would love to show of a new toy. All contacted and arranged before with the licence system done in advance, for most. Those that wanted to use it for the first time for the viewers will test it out in a controlled setting then gain the licence after. Although the theory test was still done in advanced.
You might wonder how I had the competence to do all this but Shanell has very in-depth knowledge and a slightly shady level of knowledge on how to control the government, I might keep an eye on her but I could also be paranoid. Was kidnapped before so who knows. She hammered out most of the details with us working together on advertisement and her working to keep us on the good side of law.
And with that are company exploded. Thousands of orders within 2 days. But with stormy weather some delays took place. News people running are doors down and me hiding in my home. We needed to rapidly expand are production facilities. With some quick thinking from Shanell we start a pre order scheme to get money in early then rapidly install several factories to pump out the suits as fast as possible. Even producing 200 a day now we still can’t even touch the amount of orders we are getting and so set a month-long waiting list, if you get it early good for you. So, we can pace the team they are working 80-hour shifts. Il make sure to up the pay as thanks with some specialisation training of course. For the wing suit the profit margin is razor thin so I we don’t make much after overheads and tax is done. Jet suits have a bit more profit but they are sold less. Still I’m easily with my shares racking in enough to set me for 5 lives living comfortably. If we keep this up this is.
Well I hired staff got them trained and now I don’t need to stress about the company. Shanell ran the whole book side of things and I just got it rolling. So now back to the lab. What to make next. I’m going to enjoy this life.

How would a true immortal with average talent in magic fare within a world where magic is everything? In the world of Aria, only a small fraction of the population are classified as magicians. These magicians are able to use magic through the manipulation of the mana they are born with and are the core of the military strength within every nation. However, one nation in particular uses magicians to an even higher extreme than the others. This nation is known as The Republic of Arcania. The largest power in Aria. Our story follows Nathan Fox as he graduates from high school and is sent to the Arcane Academy for his required military training as a magician before he eventually serves his ten year term in the military.Nathan has been a true immortal ever since he got a semi-magical disease that makes any damage done to his body instantly reverse itself, bringing him back to his top form on the day that he became an immortal. Ever since then, it has been impossible for Nathan to die.But there are worse things in the world than death. And if the power-hungry magicians of the world were to learn of Nathan's true immortality? Then he might just experience those things himself. What will happen to Nathan as he traverses life in the academy? Will his secret be found out?Or will he be able to safely make it through the four years of academy life with his secret intact? That has yet to be foretold. The beginning of the story starts out slow for what many Royal Road readers are used to and then speeds up after around chapter 20 or so. It is a school arc, so it is supposed to be slow. Most of the combat and action isn't seen until after these chapters, which you can view as an introduction to the world, the characters, and magic itself. Many of the reviews are outdated due to edits I've been making along the way through the story. Specifically some of the edits going over the world itself, including pointing out in the story some of the things a few of the reviewers missed when they wrote their reviews, along with fixing other things that were pointed out in the story from the reviews and comments. This book is also being edited as it's being written, so some small parts might change as I get suggestions from readers. I do not write harem or sexual content in my stories. Ever.
