《Triblade: Maximum Atomic Fury》The Nomad’s Origins

There came the clanging of swords, pounding feet, drums and the screams of hate. There was fire, siege and cannons, few as there were. The skies remained blue, filled with only few clouds that were dimmed by the smoke out in the fields. Men with swords, by the hundreds, marched past trees and took to towns, destroying everything their eyes caught sight upon.
There was no mercy as women and children were sliced down, running from their homes. Men were tossed skyward and caught on seas of spears as this barrage of soldiers swept through the town life a flame engulfing a dried leaf. In the madness he stood alone. He had no family. He was young. Without a thought he reached for his blade and swung into the crowd of killers.
Hitting a few, their swords made their way to him, dicing his arms and legs with cuts here or there. In the chaos he dropped to the floor and crawled beneath the feet of the men with swords. While crawling he could hear gunfire. He felt slugs ripple, blasting past the soldiers above, hitting them and scathing him.
On the ground, crawling through muddy water and puddles of blood, he felt nothing. Looking up there was a light that existed beyond the legs of the invaders. That is where he went, fleeing and not looking back once he was free from the sea of soldiers being blasted apart by cannon fire. As he ran he began to feel warm, looking down he saw that a bullet had hit him.
By the time he reached the trees, beyond the sight of the townspeople or their pillagers, he had grown dizzy, almost passing out. And for a few seconds the world went dim. in this moment he was at peace. The world floated away and he could see a boat on a white river reflecting into nothingness. The ferryman wore a mask and extended his left arm.

He awoke to birds. At the start of it all there was a breeze, humidity in the air and the bright sun peaking through a spell of clustered clouds. There was little noise atop that hill, more or less the faint noises of the town past the trees, beyond the lower field. It was the sound of men crying out. It was the sound of fire and war.
So he sat, an arm on his wound where the bullet had gone in; and in that instance he looked out at the sky and field with a blank mind. He felt tired, like one would after a great struggle of agonizing physical exertion. Jiyu, finally realizing his location, took his hand off of his wound and spoke quietly to himself.
So this is gonna be it, huh? Damn shame. I was hoping for something a little flashier. Ah, well.

The Tribrid Girl
8 474Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

There are many stories about dungeons; places far more dangerous than the world around them. This is the story of an Oasis; a rare sanctuary in a deadly, everchanging world. Gamelit fiction pulling elements from various civ and citybuilder games. Updates daily, with relatively slow story development. Content warning, there is cursing in the story and there will be some pretty heavy sexual innuendos in it also. I don’t really plan to write gore, but there will be fight scenes. Fair warning to readers, it is a slow start. But hopefully it is enjoyable for you to read. Follow the story of an old chef who was lucky to be selected to become a system host. Well maybe not so lucky, because gaining the system killed him. He will be given a system that might not be the best match for him. While also having to deal with a snarky system monitor who might not be that helpful most of the time. He will also use his new found powers to enjoy life in a new younger body. What you can expect from this story is bad writing, poor grammar, and slow pacing maybe. Food, cooking, comedy, slice of life, fighting, exploring, tournaments, scamming and probably face slapping. I mean who doesn’t like a good face slapping? This is my take on a cultivation story, a lot of Eastern stuff will be crammed into with a mix of Western. This story started as a goal for myself to write 60,000 words in a month for NaNoWriMo. I was able to do it even with taking days off and not writing. I plan to keep writing the story, but at a slightly slower pace. I am aiming for 2-3 chapters a week now with about 4-7k words written. This is only posted on RoyalRoad currently, and I have no plans to change that for now.
