《Falling Back》5

Of course I recognized him right away. I wasn't some cheap, oblivious, wattpad character. Yes it had been four years, but I only know one Jules Lowry that looked like that. One Jules Lowry that had that hair, that had those charming blue eyes, that had the most amiable smile I have seen. Although he was taller now and has a greater body.........and with that beard, God he looked like a hard soft boy.
I. Don't. Even. Know.
While having these thoughts I just stared at his hand unwilling to shake it.
He laughed awkwardly and lowered his hand "Um excuse me?" Clearly confused to why my greeting was so rude.
"Sorry I meant...uh fuck no I'm not going to shake your hand when you just had sex." I wanted to beat myself up because of my lame excuse.
"W-what no!" He stuttered "You got it all wrong. It's a long story but you got it all wrong."
He showed his hands to me
"See it's clean!"
I laughed "Kidding...and it's none if my business anyways."
He smiled and rubbed the back of his head.
"My name is Taylor Lynch." I greeted. I walked to my desk and sat down on the chair, not bothering to look at him. Good thing my desk faced the wall.
My sweat was trickling down my neck, I was super nervous that he was actually my roommate, but I wouldn't let him see that.
"So," he spoke "what course are you taking?"
"Engineering" still not bothering to look at him
"I'm in architecture, maybe some time in the future we could be partners." He joked
"Cool cool yeah business partners!"
"Uh anyways, I was just about to grab some lunch. Do you want to come with me? He asked
"No thank you, I have plans myself." Remembering about Jacob's invite
"Well then," I heard him grab something from the bookshelf "I'm off"
When I heard the door shut, I turned around and let out a long sigh.
"Fuck" After getting a grip I got out of the dorm room and went to the restaurant.
-----
After walking to the restaurant I got in and looked around for Jacob and Evie. They already had a table and were bickering.

"Just order already!" Evie shouted
"Shut up! You order!"
"I swear to god Jacob!" Evie stood up and pulled the collar of his shirt. Some people were looking at them.
I walked over them to intervene before they could bitch slap each other. "Hey guys, you're causing a scene."
Evie let go of Jacob's shirt and sat back down on the chair.
"Oh hi I thought you wouldn't come." He greeted
"Good thing I did, otherwise Evie might have killed you already."
She laughed "Don't worry, I would never kill him here. I mean come on THERE'S A LOT of people here." She said making other people look at us.
What have I gotten myself into. "What do you have against each other anyways?" I pulled a chair and sat down.
Both of them replied at the same time "Imagine living with that," they pointed a each other
"Jinx" Jacob shouted
Before Evie could retort Jacob continued talking "Your whole life. I guess it was alright for eighteen years but you just had to follow me here did ya?!"
Evie slapped the back of his head "Bitch don't even"
"You guys are siblings?" I asked
"Uhuh our last name's Morgan and we're actually twins." She answered
"Huh? I never would've guessed you guys look so different. Anyways let's eat"
-------
When we finished eating we stayed in the restaurant for a couple more minutes talking. I learned that they didn't have any siblings, the course they were taking, and of course how Jacob was gay and Evie bi.
"You're in a much chipper mood compared to this morning Taylor." Jacob said
"This," I gestured my hands to myself "is not chipper, this is jitter."
"Why's that?" Asked Evie
"Oh yeah before the orientation started, we were talking about gay stuff." He paused "You're gay stuff" he pointed at me.
"He isn't gay" she said
I thought about whether I should tell them about Jules and the roommate situation. I mean what could go wrong?
"Well Jacob is actually right."
"Ha! See"
"Ugh whatever" she slumped on the chair and rolled her eyes
I smiled because of this "And as for the reason why I'm jittery is because-" I started telling the story

"So basically the first, real, no hate, no denial, guy crush you had is now your roommate?" Jacob asked
I nodded
"Do you still have feelings for him?"
"What?! Of course not, it's been years man and I have had past relationships already.
"Then you have nothing to worry about." Evie looked at her phone "Guys I have to go, something came up. I'll see you later."
"See yah" Both of us waved
When she stood up and headed for the exit, Jacob moved closer and put his arm on my shoulder "Now I might have to disagree with my darling sister."
"What do you mean?"
"Well are you worried that you might catch feelings for this guy?"
"No..."
He nodded looking unconvinced "Sure, is he gay? Well gay now?"
"Nope" I said popping the p
"Huh let me see him, I thing you're gaydar is broken. Was your last breakup that bad?" He snickered
"Nah it was actually mutual...we both thought long distance wouldn't work. Anyways, if he was gay I wouldn't try asking him out. This is just the first day in college. College is the perfect time to discover and try new things, why would I date someone from my highshool." I scoffed "Or the first guy I see."
He laughed
"Hmm he might be at the cafe, let's go and test your gaydar." I smiled
------
We didn't go inside the cafe when we arrived. Instead I pointed out to Jacob who Jules was. Jules was sitting there with a sketchbook and drinking coffee, he looked peaceful.
"Yeah that's him"
"Ooooh he's handsome" Jacob had a slight smirk on his face
"Stop being thirsty dude" I rolled my eyes
"Hehe sorry, give me a sec" he paused and looked at Jules intently "Hmmmm
..hmmm...hmmmm...hmm-"
"Oh for fucks sake dude what?!"
"What the actual fuck I don't know...my MIND IS BOGGLED"
"Told you he wasn't gay."
"Ugh maybe he's bi or pan or AT LEAST part of the community. Whatever my head hurts. I'll figure this out I swear!" He promised me "Well in the meantime,"
"Yeah?"
"Since he's your roommate, maybe you could do a q and gay."
I furrowed my eyebrows "Um what?"
"Just ask basic gay stereotypes!"
"Why would I do that when we have a gaydar?"
"Well it's not working right now is it?"
I shrugged
"Just do it, anyways I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow. Later."
"Bye"
After Jacob left I went back to the dorm and decided to just chill there for the rest of the day.
------
It was around eight o'clock, I was in our dorm along with Jules with him staying on his side. While I was on my bed, scrolling through my phone, I noticed that he was looking, more like staring at me.
"Why are you staring at me?" I inquired
"Hmm...you seem oddly familiar,"
I put on a smug look while still scrolling through my phone "You sure about that?" I mean I have a pretty common face." I said, trying my best to sound confident.
Shit! Did he see those subtle glances back then? Did he see my flushed face when I was near him? If he did, does he even remember?
"You look like that guy from eyewitness!"
"Pfft," I laughed "no I don't"
"Huh? I must be mistaken then...were you from Markus High?"
I finally put my phone down and looked at him.
Ah shit here we go again "Huh?! High?! Like when you do drugs? Do you smoke weed? I mean I did back then can't say it was fun or maybe it actually was? I don't know how about coke? Nah that's too far...Markus High Markus High Markuuuus Hiiiiigh...I might went there...?"
He laughed no no he cackled
Kill me now, it's been a long time since I gay panicked what the fuck was that?! Argh get a grip Taylor
My mouth was dry "Um why do you ask?"
"I used to go there and I just thought you looked familiar. Anyways good night!"
That was it? So he didn't remember anything? Was I supposed to feel relieved?
"Ah yeah night" I gave a wry laugh
