《Buried with Secrets》Chapter Six: Alana Gabriels

First the girls bring Rylan back home. Lindsey parks the car about a block away from Rylan's house. She basically kicks Rylan out of the car and gives her one final warning. When Rylan nods that she understands, Lindsey drives off. Leaving the girl to walk to the last block to her home.
''Did you have to be so harsh about that?'' Mila asks slightly annoyed at her friends attitude.
''She's getting home is she not? She should be glad we rescued her.''
''Maybe if you were a little bit nicer we would know that she will keep her mouth shut for certain.'' Mila argues back.
''She was threatened with a gun, I think she'll keep her mouth shut.'' Alana says.
The girls sit in silence for a while, still not fully comprehending what they did this night, their adrenaline slowly dissapearing. All of a sudden Alana gets called.
''It's 4 AM who on earth could that be?'' Lindsey asks almost annoyed.
''Cindy? What's wrong?''
''Why weren't you answering your phone!? Or texting me back? Didn't mom tell you to always keep your sound on when you're away!?'' An angry sounding Cindy tells her sister.
''Okay chill. I forgot.. what's up?''
''Mom is in the hospital, you need to meet me there NOW.'' Cindy says and hangs up immediately.
''Lana?'' Mila asks concerned.
''My mom.. She's in the hospital. I need to go there..'' Alana says sad.
''I'll drive you.'' Lindsey says while changing directions.
In about 15 minutes the girls reach the hospital.
''You sure you don't want us to come in with you?'' Lindsey asks her friend, afraid to leave her alone with her sister.
''No it will only aggravate Cindy.. I will call you when I know more.'' Alana says while getting out of the car.
''Okay.. stay strong Lana.'' Lindsey says. Alana nods and slowly makes her way into the hospital. Soon she sees Cindy in the large waiting area. ''Cindy? What happened?''
Cindy gets up, tears in her eyes.
''I-I don't know yet.. She just fainted. I knew she wasn't feeling well lately but she.. she said everything was fine and that it was just stress. But now I'm not so sure. The doctors are checking her now, but they say she's unconscious still.'' Cindy explains to her sister, struggeling to keep it together. 'I must remain strong for Alana.' She thinks.
''How long have you been here?'' Alana asks, afraid of the answer. On the way to the hospital she checked her phone and saw numerous texts and missed calls.
''About an hour and a half. I think they will come with some news soon.''

The sisters sit down next to each other, comforting each other in silence. Completely forgetting their rivalry. In this moment only their mother counts.
Soon enough a doctor calls for them.
''Daughters of Jenette Gabriels?'' He asks. The girls just nod, afraid to speak.
''I am doctor McDaniels. Your mother struggled with cancer before correct?'' He asks.
Alana looks absolutely terrified, had the cancer returned?
''Uhh.. Yes, but that was years ago. The doctors said it was completely gone.'' Cindy answers.
''Well that could have been the case then but unfortunately there is always a small chance of the cancer returning. I am very sorry to say but we found a tumor in her brain. Which has caused her to pass out. Is there any family you could call?'' The doctor explains.
''Uhhh yes, our grandparents. Why?'' Cindy asks.
''Can it be removed? The tumor?'' Alana interrupts.
''We could try.''
''So do it then.'' Alana says, tears in her eyes.
''I would really prefer to discuss this with either your grandparents or another family member.'' The doctor tries to explain.
''Why? This is our mother.. Explain it to us.'' Alana tries again.
''Lana.. these kinds of surgeries have risks too, and it's not up to us to decide whether they're gonna do the surgery or not.'' Cindy calmly tries to explain to her distraught sister, hoping she can keep her calm. Last thing she wants is for Alana to cause a huge scene.
''THEN WHO IS IT UP TO!?'' Alana screams.
'Well.. here we go..' Cindy thinks, she actually has to stop herself from rolling her eyes.
''One. Don't scream, you're going to cause a scene. Two. It is up to mom and our grandparents, which is why I'm going to call them.''
''Are you going to call dad too?''
Cindy stops in her tracks and looks at her sister. Unlike Cindy, Alana always had a good bond with her father. It was extra hard on Alana when he left, and Alana always blamed her sister for their father leaving. If their relationship was so good then it must have been Cindy, even their mother had struggled raising Cindy. This is where their rivalry and hatred for each other all begun. Even though Cindy never showed it, she hated it that her sister blamed her for that. After all, Cindy knew the truth but it would absolutely break Alana's heart if she ever told her. So Cindy kept her mouth shut, dealing with her sisters hatred in order to keep the image she still had of their father alive. Though sometimes Alana made that very hard on her, numerous times she had almost broke and told Alana everything about their father. But she didn't break then, and she wouldn't break now.

''Let's discuss this somewhere else. Thank you so much for everything doctor. I will call our grandparents and hope they will arrive here soon.'' Cindy says politely and walks off to call.
Alana sighs and walks in another direction to call her friends.
''Lana? What's going on? Is your mother allright?'' Mila says, worry evident in her voice.
''No.. She has a tumor in her brain.. I don't know what's going to happen. Cindy is calling our grandparents now.''
''Oh my god.. I'm so sorry Lana.. If there is anything we can do..'' Lindsey replies.
''For now nothing.. I think I'm just going to stay in the hospital or go home with Cindy. Depending on what she's going to do. But I will call when I know more.'' Alana says.
''Okay. Stay strong, we love you.'' Mila says.
''Love you too.''
In the morning their grandparents finally arrive. Cindy elbows Alana to wake her up. ''Auch did you really have to do that?'' Alana says annoyed.
''Yes. Now get up.''
Their grandma walks over to the girls while their grandfather walks to the reception. ''My sweet girls, how are you?'' The sweet voice of their grandmother says.
''Could be a lot better. But I'm happy you're here.'' Cindy says hugging her grandmother. ''Me too.'' Alana says.
''Your mother is strong. She fought this before, she can do it again.'' Their grandmother says determined.
''I'm going to talk with the doctor, stay here.''
About 20 minutes later their grandparents return. ''And? What's going to happen?'' Alana asks worried.
''Your mother just woke up. The final decision is up to her, but we can go to her to talk. So let's go.'' Their grandfather says. He leads the way to the room their mother is in. Both of the girls are scared. What will she look like? Will she look normal? Will she look sick? What will she decide? Will the surgery kill her? All kinds of questions go through their minds. Ultimately they know if their mother doesn't get surgery she will die. At least with the surgery she will have a chance to survive, but at what cost?
They arrive at their mother's room, when they walk in they see their mother. She looks tired, but overall still okay. ''Mom.. Why didn't you tell us how you really were feeling?'' Cindy asks, tears once again in her eyes.
''I didn't want to worry you guys, and I was afraid of what the doctors might have found had I gone to a checkup.'' Their mother says, guilt written on her face.
''I want you two to know I am going through with the surgery. At least I will have a chance to survive. I did call your father, he is on his way and will be here tonight.'' She explains. Cindy looks almost betrayed, after everything that man did to her mother.
''I want you two to know, I love you so very much. Whatever happens. You stay strong, and for the love of god make up.. stop this fighting. You were once so close.'' Their mother says with tears in her eyes. The sisters are full on crying now. They go to hug their mother, because who knows.. This might be the last time they will be able to hug her.
''Day.. You don't have to do this..'' Alana says almost pleading.
''Lana you said it yourself, you guys don't have the money. I do. I'm sure my father will want to help out.'' Daytuso explains to the blonde.
''It's a lot of money and we cannot pay it pack.'' Alana tries again.
''Who said anything about paying it back? You are my best friend Lana, you're like a sister. And are you forgetting that my parents and your mother are friends too? Let us help you. She needs surgery and we can pay it for her.'' Daytuso explains, bringing in her friend for a hug.
''I'm just so scared Day.. Surgery has risks too. What if it goes wrong? What if she dies? We don't have our dad anymore who will take care of us?'' Alana says, now crying on her friends shoulder.
''You still have aunts and uncles and your grandparents. And if they are stupid enough not to take you in then we will.'' Daytuso assures her friend.
''Cindy hates you and you hate her.'' Alana says simply.
''Yeah well.. she is a charity case.'' Daytuso jokes, making Alana laugh. ''She really is.'' Alana jokes back.
''I will never forget what you did for my family Day. I cannot thank you enough. One day I will repay you for this I promise.''
''No need for that. Friends forever right? Friends help each other out. Now let us try to forget about this for now. Let's go pick up the girls and do something fun to keep your mind of off it. Agree?''
''Totally.'' Alana says with a smile.
Whether you like Daytuso or not, nobody could deny that she would do anything for her friends. She would die for them, if she must.
