“WHAT THE FUCK’S GOING ON?” I screamed at the thing in front of me.
“Heh.” A distorted, deep voice came from the body of muscles in front of me.
“This is the first time I’ve seen you so flustered Dex, it’s actually kind of cute. But to think you’d still be standing even after I poured some essence out. It just goes to show you how deep your sins are.”
“Mr. Aoi? What the fuck is going on.”
The thing, Mr. Aoi was now laughing so loudly, you’d think that his voice would crack the window behind me.
“Ah don’t worry, you can scream as loud as you need to in here. It’s been encased with Lola’s essence after all. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out until she says so.” Pointing a finger at me, Aoi was now taunting me.
“I guess I should explain everything from the beginning. At least unlike a monster like you, I have the decency not to abruptly kill someone, goddamn assassin” Aoi clicked his tongue and peered at me disdainfully.
Before he could even finish his sentence, I tried to break the window behind me with the closest chair that was under the table. My plan was to burst through the window and land through the canopy that I saw before entering the restaurant and makea break for it. I had tossed the chair with all my strength at the window but as if the chair was made out of rubber, it simply bounced back at me after I had thrown it at the window.
“Ugh!”
“Hey, hey, I just told you no one can come in or out right now. You really should be listening to your elders” tutting his fingers, Aoi started taunting me again.
Fuck I guess, there’s no way to get out of here if what he said was true. I’m pretty sure that door behind him’s blockaded like this window. I guess the best move right now is to act a bit docile and find a chance to escape.

I glared at Aoi with a hint of desperation in my eyes, though it was real desperation, it didn’t mean I lost my head. I wanted to act out like he was in control right now. Whatever the fuck he is. Though my body’s still shaking from what I’m seeing, I can just ignore that for now. I need some information on what’s happening, he seems like he’ll give it to me though, he IS pretty arrogant.
“Planning something are you? I can tell when you’re acting Dex. I can smell your essence from a mile away. Those aren’t eyes of desperation, you’re still trying to get out. So is this kind of acting what made you so effective? You really are a piece of shit Dex”
What the fuck? This always puts others guards down. And what the hell is this essence he keeps blabbing about.
“I wouldn’t try anything if I were you Dex”
Finally, the grieving young lady in the room spoke and looked at me. The paleness in her face was still there, but she looked kind of different.
“Miki, what’s going on! This old man is he really Aoi?” In slight desperation, I tried to talk to Miki who was also glaring at me.
“Don’t worry, it’s just you paying for your sins.” With a face I’ve never seen Miki before make, my knees finally buckle from the pressure.
I was familiar with that face. It was like the face those assholes would make when they were playing with a torture victim. They’d look at them with pity, as if they were talking to an insect. As if they were playing with someone’s life.
“Hoo. As expected of your eyes Miki, the bastard finally buckled. Tough little shit.”
Miki’s eyes glowed a deep crimson color. Similar to what you’d see in scary movies plastered on the actors. But this didn’t look like special effects, this was all real.

“It didn’t look like he went down because of my eyes though. Say Dex, did me looking at you like that trigger some bad memories?” laughing slightly, Miki let out a small smile.
I can’t believe that sweet girl could make such a face...Were you always like this Miki?!
For some reason I couldn’t breathe and was shaking profusely. Does this have anything to do with Aoi’s transformation? He talked about her eyes, did it do this to me?
“Can’t move? That’s all expected Dex. This was how it was supposed to be after all.”
Miki stood up from her seat and stood next to Aoi. She still had the twisted look in her face and her eyes were still brightly lit.
“Naaah, I-I’m just taken away at how beautiful your eyes are...” I smirkingly give her a sarcastic answer.
“...You were always like that Dex. Cool under pressure, how many life threatening situations have you been in to turn into someone like that? We could all see it you know? The guilt inside of you. Expected a life of adventure, got a life of a villain instead, tragic huh? Runaway.”
Memories flashed inside of my mind like a picturesque movie. So they knew from the beginning huh?
“How much do you know?” I quietly ask with my knees still buckling from some unknown pressure. I put my hands on the tumbled chair to keep myself from falling down, but in the process I looked like I was kneeling like a loyal dog.
“Nothing much. Dad just mentioned that you were a former Rising Feather member and he wanted to take you in. Though he didn’t mean it in a nice way, at first at least.”
The nice way?
I puzzledly looked at the girl I had grown close to, that I was all concerned about, and the one that seemed to hate me to the core.
Aoi and Miki looked at each other and laughed maliciously. While tutting his fingers, Aoi started laughing uncontrollably and Miki started snickering behind him.
“I guess that killing you here without any explanation would be too cruel huh Dex? Fine. I’ll be the stereotypical villain for now. I’ll explain from the very beginning. What was supposed to happen to you.”
As she said that, dark smoke started emanating from her body. The smoke was similar to the smoke that puffs out from coal trains, same texture on the skin and dark black color, only that it smelled sweet. It smelled like high quality perfume that wasn’t too hard on the nose. If aphrodisiacs existed, then they would probably smell like that seductive smell.
The room turned darker and darker per second she emanated smoke and finally…
A neon purple pair of butterfly wings sprouted out from her back.

Follow along as this unlikely group of people join forces to help each other accomplish their own goals in this non-epic fantasy adventure. Fair Warning: This fiction contains many of the well-known light novel tropes, though I try to give them my own spin. If you’re tired of them by now, you might want to keep away. There are no demon lords however, nor any end-of-the-world cataclysm situation that only the MC can solve. This story is more about different people coming together and helping each other out to achieve their own goals and objectives.
