“Doctor, he is awake.” A nurse signaled her doctor.

“How is his heart pressure?” the doctor specified.

“Normal rate. Should we use tranquilizers or penicillin? He is badly injured. We don’t want to wake him in shock.”

“That won’t be necessary.” Replied the doctor as he shone a flashlight on both Onays’ eyes. “He requires some stitches and mandible operation. His jaws are displaced. I don’t know what trouble he got into.”

“Doctor, his guardians are outside. Should we call them in?”

“I’ll consult with them afterwards. Just provide Puan Rohani with her daily dose.”

Slipping his clipboard under his arm that had reports of Onays’ medical condition, he routed around the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital before bumping in with the police.

“Doctor, you have a criminal suspect detained under your authority. We order you stipend your treatment for interrogations.” A sergeant blocked his way.

“Yes… yes of course. I would just like to meet his guardians momentarily.”

The sergeant gave a grim look, intending that he the doctor has to be precise and quick.

“You must be Encik Tariq and Puan Khairina?” greeted the doctor.

“Is he alright doctor?” Puan Khairina asked.

“The boy’s fine. We will have to undergo a few more diagnosis and we will hand you in the prescriptions. I’m unable to keep the boy here, because you know… the police.”

“Can we visit him?” Tariq had included.

“Allow me to inform the counter.” Replied the doctor as he validated their visitation to the ward. Both guardians of Onays tailed the doctor behind as they entered into a special ward that only had Onays on his bed at the corner. Puan Khairinia placed a bouquet of flowers beside his bed and gasped. Onays slowly opened his eyes, his vision was still blurry. He tried to talk, but it was painful to do so. His broken jaw would not allow him. The doctor retracted his stethoscope and checked Onays heartbeat.

“Please, have a seat.” The doctor insisted. “I don’t mean to offend the both of you, but why did he attempted to steal the country’s most valuable artifact; the golden crocodile?”

Puan Khairinia wiped her tears. “We don’t know. He was perfectly normal before we came to Brunei until he acted strangely.”

“Strangely?” the doctor jotted down on his clipboard. “How would you describe… strangely?”

“At one of the museums, he began talking to himself and he even ran around like he’s chasing a shadow.” Tariq explained.

“Oh, does he have autism or any other mental disorder?”

“He’s nothing like this before. It all happened when we came to the museum.” Khairina continued.

“I don’t think it’s schizophrenia, but I could finalize that it could be psychosis.”

“Psychosis?” Tariq snapped.

“It is when a patient is exposed to a disorder where they talk to themselves and see images that no one else can see. It’s just that they are affected by depression, stress or anxiety.”

“Is there a cure for it doctor?” asked Khairina.

“Unfortunately, we have antidepressants which are prescribed for him to take to only reduce the effects not to cure it.”

“Thank you for your time doctor.” Said Khairina.

The doctor nodded and both guardians left the ward. The doctor then ordered the nurse to push Onays to the operation room. The whole night was an arduous task.
