He woke up and looked at the time, it read 5:37am, the next time he blinked it read 7:37am. His eyes opened wide, he sat in his room staring at his clock; it moved 2 hours in a split second. He looked out his window this time and blinked again. The sun was up in the morning sky, giving off a wonderful bright orange glow. He realised what was going on.

He raced down the stairs to see his mother getting ready to go to work. She greeted him and asked him;

“What are you doing? You should be at school!”

He didn’t know what to say, so he looked at her again and responded.

“Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary about the time? Like maybe it jumping forward 2 hours?”

She gave him a confused look.

“Aww, Em, are you sick? Let me check your forehead.”

“No. Let me get ready, can you drive me in?”

Emery rushed back up the stairs to his room, he unknowingly blinked as he opened the door and saw the light outside his window brighten. He rushes back downstairs and finds the house empty, he looks at the clock and it reads 11am. He couldn’t believe what was going on; his mind simply refused to accept it, time was jumping ahead two hours every time he blinked. He tried to reason with it. Like maybe he was inside of a dream, or maybe he was just tired. He was lost in his thoughts, he didn’t even notice that he had blinked multiple times. He looked back at the clock and it now read 9:39pm, he felt defeated.
