《Failing Can Lead To Peace》Chapter One: How It All Began

Ink's POV:
I opened my eye sockets to see just black. I sat up confused about where I was. I rubbed them, hoping for a different result just to see the black again. I got up and looked around, seeing if I was just facing a black wall, just to see that I'm in a black wasteland.
I caught a glimpse of a light tan as I turned. I turned again to see that it was the end of my scarf. I quietly ruled out the possibility of me being blind as I looked down to see I'm in my normal clothes.
I was about to run through more options of what's going on in my 'mind' when I heard sobbing. I turned to the direction it was, seeing is my 'ears' were playing a trick on me. They weren't. I quickly ran to see who was crying when I saw Error hugging himself and crying.
I froze at the sight. I've never seen Error cry. His back was facing me as I heard him sobbing apologies to everyone. I quietly sighed as I walked over to him. I knelt and hugged him from behind. He immediately reacted and pushed himself away from me. He stared at me as tear's run down his bones.
"Error? Why are you crying?" I worriedly asked. I know he's the destroyer but I've never seen him cry.
He snapped back into reality and started to sob again. I crawled over and wrapped him in my arms. This time, instead of pulling away, he leaned in. His hand gripped my shirt tightly as I started to slowly rock him.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." Error kept on repeating.
"What for Error?" I quietly asked, leading to him sobbing harder as his grip tightens.

I quietly sighed as I started to hum 'Don't Forget' to calm him down. A few minutes later Error started to go limp. I looked down to see him almost asleep.
"Goodnight Error." I quietly hummed as I rocked my rival.
"Night...little...berry..." Error muttered as he fully fell asleep. I raised a bone brow in confusion. That sounds like a nickname that'd be given to Blue but why would Error give Blue a nickname?
I laid down beside Error, causing him to immediately cuddle up to my chest. I hummed quietly as darkness swarmed my vision.

Is their destiny set in stone, or will they forge a different path? No matter what, their choices will bring forth a new era for Mendala. ------------------------------ If you love vast fantasy worlds, rich, fleshed-out characters, and a adventure where your'e constantly discovering new things along the way, then this is definitely a story you'll enjoy. This is a slow-burn high fantasy / adventure with many characters and intersecting plotlines. It’s a quest so lots of adventuring, exploring, and character moments, but not a ton of fighting/action (though there are definitely some great fight scenes as payoff to the buildup). Because it’s a fantasy world with lots of people and new concepts, I try to make it easy so that you don’t have to memorize anything. The narrative will constantly remind you of important people/places/concepts as you keep moving forward. Some things won’t be fully explained right at the beginning to avoid information overload. My goal is that the reader will learn things organically as the story progresses. I use two mechanisms to help with the intersecting plotlines. - Each chapter is named for the (main) plotline it’s following and which part. - At the beginning of the chapter, and anytime there is a scene shift, the location is listed. Also, though this is definitely a portal-fantasy (isekai) it’s different from the standard isekai, especially since the world transfer doesn’t happen immediately. It’s not Lit-RPG but characters gain powers and grow over time. Also, it’s a group of teens that transfer, not just one central character. All of the teens are distinct characters, with their own character-arcs, relationships, powers, growth etc. Hopefully you’ll find this interesting as you’ll see the world and story from multiple perspectives. The story is always in 3rd Person (Omniscient) POV so that it’s not jarring as perspectives shift.
