“Daddy! Daddy!” The young fox cried, as she jumped up into her fathers arms. “Tarot did it again!” She looked at her father with big tears in her green eyes, showing him berries stuck in her fur. Dilos chuckled and looked at the little gray fox, his head bowed down, guilty as charged. “Flara, I think he feels bad.” Dilos said putting her down and picking the berries out. Flara stuck out her tongue at Tarot. “I think he doesn’t .” Tarot stuck his tongue back. They both giggled. Flara looked at her father, ” When is Mama coming home?” Dilos smiled down at her daughter. “Tonight. She’s in Discovery with Tarot’s parents. They are helping the ambassador's daughter.” Flara started licking out the berries and Tarot helped too. “Daddy aren’t you the ambassador?” Flara smiled with berry juice around her mouth. “Ah yes, every world has one .” Dilos explained. Summer solstice was tonight and Sara and Tarot’s parents were coming back after months of being away. They were healers of the land and the ambassador's daughter was having complications with her pregnancy. Dilos scooped up the kits and headed to the crossover. As he walked, Dilos look up at the stars and night sky had an eerie glow. Something worried him. He had never seen something like this before. The clouds twisted and spun with a dark red color. Some packs and skulks were already there and Dilos greeted them. He put down Flara and Tarot and they started to run after fireflies. The citizens were questioning it too. The soft wind started to blow, hitting Dilos' red fur. He smelled the air. Something wasn’t right . Lights began to hover and glow as the worlds started merging. He could see a small amount of creatures coming through. No sign of Sara. He walked to the cross over point and a wolf came running through. His face was in a panic. His fur had claw marks and dried blood stuck to it. Dilos' brown eyes widened as the wolf approached him. It was Simus. “Dilos! Something terrible is happening in Discovery. The citizens are going crazy. Benevolent is no were to be found. Everything has stopped growing and the people are turning against each other.” The pit of Dilos' stomach dropped. He saw more creatures coming through, some limping and holding each other. He didn’t see Sara or Tarot’s parents. His gut wanted him to run through the portal to find Sara. He kept searching, but no sight of his partner and friends. He looked back at Flara and Tarot playing, laughing and tackling each other. He was at the edge of the crossover and nothing was coming through. ‘What is going on!’ His mind was screaming .The citizens started to gather around Dilos, looking for answers that he didn't have. He looked up to the sky and saw a swirling, red mist coming toward him. It manifested into Nova, the spirit God of Love and Nurture. Her face was concerned. When Dilos saw her, he knelt down on one knee . “Dilos, life is changing in Discovery. A dark force has taken over. I can’t feel Benevolent's presence any longer. The citizens are in danger, Dilos. You must gather the strongest and send them over to bring our kin home .” The Wolf Simus approached them. His arm was still bleeding and he grasped at it in pain.

“It started a few months ago." He said. "Small changes at first. The weather started to turn on us. Less and less rain would fall until the creeks started to dry up. The people started to panic because the springs no longer provided water. It was only a matter of time until they turned on one another. Those of us from here tried to keep things calm. Without warning they started to despise us. They said that we were to blame for all that was going wrong. That we weren't welcome there. We had to hide wherever we could until the solstice. Not......"Simus drifted off. He turned his head to look down and a tear welled up in his eye. "Not all of us made it out alive. It was horrifying. It was as if a dark poison had corrupted their minds. Those of us from this world were somehow immune from it." Dilos was anxious and looked at Simus , “Sara, she was with Tristen and Kira helping the ambassadors daughter! “ Dilos voice was shaking. Simus kept looking down. “The ambassador is gone. Sara must have went into hiding with them. I haven’t seen them since things started changing.” Dilos looked at the portal. “I must find her!” Nova levitated in front of Dilos. “Dilos, you must stay here . You’re the ambassador here and must govern this world. Gather your strongest. We only have a little time left before the portal closes.”
That night, Dilos brought all the skulks and packs together. With Nova by his side, they explained what was happening. Some of the them were worried, some wanted to fight and save their loved ones that were stuck in the other world. Dilos looked defeated. “I need the strongest, the alphas to step forward!“ He shouted over the clans. There was a lot of commotion. Simus stepped forward, “ I’ll go back. I’ve seen first hand the devastation that’s happening. We need to find Benevolent. He has to have the answers.“ More bickering came from the packs. The alphas stepped forward. Dilos nodded his head with respect. He glanced over at Flara and Tarot. They were standing silent and looked confused. Nova flew over the the alpha males and gave them each a red stone to protect them. Dilos pulled Simus aside, looking at his wounds. “Your willing to go back?“ Simus stood tall. “Yes, if we can’t stop this, it will destroy their world.” Dilos put his paw on Simus' shoulder and asked looking over at Flara, “ Can you find Sara, Tristen, and Kira for me?“ Simus quietly nodded his head. Nova swirled around Simus and healed his open wounds. She then handed him a red crystal .The alphas mostly males hugged their kin before they approached the cross over. Dilos nodded to Simus as he started to walk to the crossover. As the alphas walked through Flara jumped into her fathers arm. ”Daddy, where is mama?” Dilos just watched as the silhouettes were disappearing into the the void. “She will be coming home soon.” He answered. His hope was diminishing. He put her down and she ran to Tarot. She was whispering in his ear and he started to giggle. Dilos turned to Nova “Do you know what’s happening?” Nova looked down at him “I fear the worst. Benevolent stopped communicating with me a few months ago. He changed in some way that is a lot darker and more powerful then me. Rules have been changed in that world that are causing chaos to the citizens and the world.“ The lights were glowing indicating the closing of the portal. Dilos noticed Flara close to the portal, screaming, crying and pointing. Dilos ran up to her “What's wrong? Where is Tarot?“ Dilos looked around in a panic. Flara looked up at her father, tears streaming down her face and pointed at the portal. “No.... No no no no!“ Dilos ran to the cliff of the cross over. Before he could make it, the portal close he fell to his knees.

Dilos carried a crying Flara in his arms. He felt numb as he walked in a daze. The females of the skulks came to their side. Dilos handed Flara to Mara, a nursing fox that he trusted. Flara cuddled her, crying even harder. Nova was close behind him. He turned to Nova, who levitated down to his level . “Dilos, with this turn of events you must go to Discovery and protect Tarot, you must keep him safe. That world is changing quickly and with this change, it is going to destroy the hope that is left. You must go to the ruins at the edge of Discovery. There, you will find three objects that can change the world back.” Dilos listened intently as she continued to speak.
“Once you are there, a chamber room in the ruins will tell you what to do next. But you must do this quickly before you lose your purity. Distractions will be in your way. You must find Tarot and bring him back. The alphas will find our citizens. I will give you this orb to transfer between the worlds .” Nova placed a blue orb in his hand. “It will be your way back .” Dilos nodded. Nova then gave him a red quartz crystal.” This will protect you on your journey . “ Dilos looked over at Flara and went to her. She still had tears in her eyes. He held her tight and heard her small voice . “Daddy bring Tarot and mama back."
He petted her fur, lulling her. “Shhh.. I will, now get some rest.” He handed her to Mara, she cupped Flara in her silver fur .”Take care of her.“ He told her, a single tear falling from his eye. Nova swirled in the sky and droplets of mist fell onto the citizens. Dilos noticed none fell on him. “What is that? “ Nova guided him to the cross over. “The mist will ease their pain from tonight. I’m giving you a vile to give to Tarot to ease his pain. Now tap the orb three times.” Dilos felt nervous but he knew he had to get Tarot and Sara and bring them back home. He looked at Flara one last time, took a deep breath and tapped. 1-2-3.
—————————————————————
Tarot turned the pages. Flara held onto his shoulder, tears streaming down her face. “Did he find my mother?” Tarot kept reading. “He wrote that when he got to Discovery, the place was in chaos. The alphas were being brutally attacked. He found me at the edge of the cross over crying to get back. He scooped me up and headed to the ambassadors' dwelling. What he found inside was devastating. The the dwelling was looted and he found the ambassadors' daughter laying barely alive holding her baby.” Tarot kept reading skimming through the words. Flara kept looking at his face as it turned to desperation and then sadness. What he saw on the pages, he didn’t know how to say to Flara. She looked at him desperately for an answer. "Flara, your mom and my parents were killed by Sinister, the spirit god that took over Discovery.” He paused and heard Flara voice whisper, “ Noooo.” She slumped down and started crying. Adia hugged her and Tarot continued reading. “Once he found them he didn’t want to go on. He gave me the vile to drink and he took me and the baby. He headed to the ruins and found the objects but when he tried to use them, he was attacked by Sinister. He lost the orb and the red crystal. Sinister punctured his heart and gave him his negative energy. He couldn’t change the rules because he was no longer pure of heart. Sinister left him to die, but he survived, weak and broken. He never went home.” Tarot flipped to the last couple of pages. It explained how Nova communicated to him that he needed to send Tarot to Flara together. They needed to continue what he couldn’t do. He opened the last page. There was a map of the ruins and the chamber room. “This is where we have to go.”
