《The Cabin》Chapter 3

After spending a unknown amount of time on the porch I decide to wait out the night in the cabin. Hopefully the dome around the clearing has more uses than making me feel weird. I need a new plan, the old one holds merit, but given light to the new circumstances, I think it could be revised, and I have all the upcoming night to figure it out.

Spending the rest of the night planning will cause me to be more hungry when I go back into the forest but given that I will spend most of the night not exerting myself, I think I'll be fine.

So, I still need to get out of the forest, but I'm going to have to be careful of how I do it. My most pressing concern is no longer food or water but the green guy, no, goblin. What is a goblin? There are a couple of ways to get passed the, lets call him a golbin, for some reason it feals fitting.

As I see it, I need to prepare myself for every situation. I remember the way I went into the forest and I could try to go in the opposite of last time. Which brings me to a more pressing concern, is there more? It seems like the safe bet to assume the worst and considering the loss of the bet is my life, I'm going to take every precation I can, meaning, until proven wrong every action in the future will be made with the belief that there is more than one.

I think the best choice is to avoid goblins entirely altogether. I'm going to chose the path I've already taken, Stick with what I know. I died at night which implies he either found me in the night, or he heard me in the forrest and followed me without my knowledge to my resting spot and was smart enough to wait for me to sleep. Did he see me in the night because he heared me and saw my movments? Did I wake up because of him making noise and not the cold? I don't know which one is more scary. Avoiding the pitfalls of Doing both won't require that much more effort.

Worst case scenario comes and I end up having to fight him, as long as I'm not caught by suprise I should be able to overpower him. The only reason he got close enough to stab me was becuase I didn't realize he was on me until he was right on me. That does bring up a pressing concern, Could I take him down without first getting cut by the dagger? If I want to get out of that situation untouched I'm going to need something as help.

What could help me? I'm going to need reach on him, keep the dagger away. The idea of a staff comes to mind. It will give me reach, It will be as easy to fetch as finding a good branch on the ground, and would be able to create enough force to kill it if necessary.

Kill, should I kill it? It feels wrong to casually plan the death of another being. I can't worry about morality. It's kill or be killed, Thats already been proven more than enough. Yes, I'll kill it if it comes to it, and given that I have already concluded there is likely more than one, it may be better to do so before it can begin it's ungodly screaching again, alerting more.

Looking outside the cabin I notice the sun had been setting for awhile. Standing up and feeling my bones complain for sitting down for so long I start to head onto the grass, which looks alot more apealling than the hard wood, I lay down and start to think of whats going to happen tomorrow.

If I want to live I'm going to have to keep my head on a swivel. Move as silently through the forrest as I can and be prepared for a fight at any moment. A benefit of sleeping in the clearing is that the weather seems really nice, no wind and nice temp.

The ground was extemly uncomfortable though.
