《Blue Blood》Dreamscape

Towering walls shining with a brilliant white as clear as pure light surrounded him, capped by a ceiling higher that seemed structurally possible. The room was blinding but Damian forced himself to glance around the space, trying to make sense of his surroundings. His eye’s adjusted to the light and he began to scan the space. The floor seemed to stretch for miles, and was covered with huge white tiles, each easily bigger that a house. Damian felt dwarfed by the immense size of the place, and racked his brain as he tried to figure out where he could possibly be.

Still in shock he watched in awe as a hooded figure emerged from the floor, and floated towards him. His eyes darted around nervously, as the figure came closer. Then Damian leapt to his feet and sprinted as fast as he could, straight at the man. Jumping from the ground he landed in the man’s arms, as choking sobs came from his lips, and tears cascaded down his face. A huge smile spread across his face as his father pulled him closer, and Damian wondered how he had died, but was so happy to see his father again that the thought slipped his mind the instant it flashed across it.

It’s pretty empty for heaven, but at least Dad is here.

He felt totally at peace as a warm fuzzy feeling spread through his whole body.

His father interrupted his thoughts. “Welcome to the Dreamscape 2.0, the pinnacle of all my life’s work. What do you think Dame, Impressive isn’t it.”

Damian was even more confused, “Where are we? Is this heaven? And who are you really?”

The man he called his father laughed as he spoke, “Dame, we are in the Dreamscape, this is the project I’ve been working on for years. It’s definitely not heaven… Who am I? Well, that’s an much more interesting question. The answer is, I am your father.”

“But you’re dead,” said Damian in disbelief.

“In the real world that would be correct, but when I created and designed the Dreamscape, I knew it needed something greater that just a computer to run it, so I created the first biological computer, a direct copy of my brain.”

“So you’re a clone and a Computer Program,” said Damian.

“Not exactly, for all intents and purposes I am Michael Waller. I just don’t have my body. Obviously something tragic has happened to my real body, but I’ll still act exactly the same as I did because of how the programming works. I’m technically not a person, but I also sort of am, but enough of that. You’re probably wondering why I can develop tech that seems years ahead of the rest of the world. That’s simple, I’m a genius.”

Damian looked at the man and rolled his eyes, That’s definitely something Dad would say.

His Dad continued, “Well, to tell you the truth, everyone is, they just don’t believe they are and they don’t push themselves to the limits of their creativity and imagination. See originally everyone had blue blood, and they were all faster, stronger, and capable of using their brain at the next level, but— ”

Damian interrupted, “Blue Blood?”

“Your blue blood must have started to transform recently, and because you were touching the Orb it activated sending you into the Dreamscape while you slept.”

“This is the Orb?” said Damian.

“Do you really think I gave you a random metal ball for your birthday?” his dad starting laughing so hard, he fell over which weirded Damian out because he was floating, and he didn’t hit the floor.

He continued speaking. “Yes, we have blue blood, everyone does really, some just have it in higher concentrations than others. Everyone in the whole world can reach a level above what we think is humanly possible, if they just keep pushing their limits consistently day after day, and believe that it is possible. They can be smarter, stronger, and faster than you think is humanly possible. The only reason you’re in here is that you’ve been pushing your limits in some way, and you’ve started to access this power, which is why the Orb activated.

“You can only access the Dreamscape once a day and you need to have pushed your limits that day in order to activate it. Also, don’t tell your mother, she doesn’t know, but be careful, because—”

“Damian,” a sharp voice interrupted his dream, jarring his from his sleep, His eyes were still blurry as he searched around the room.

His mum banged on the door a second time, “Damian, get out here now.”

Seriously, Mum’s home, and she interrupted Dad. He was telling me something important. Wow, that was a weird dream.

Her tone of voice told Damian that he was in a whole lot of trouble. He pulled a shirt over his head, and began to walk out the door of the room. He took one look at Mum’s face and he almost ran back into the room. Her eye’s were blazing with an intensity he never seen before, and her mouth was drawn into a tight line. Damian just kept his head down and followed her to the living room.

“Sit,” his mum said, Damian hesitated for a moment, “On the couch,” she said. Damian could feel the pressure radiating off his mum, just being in her presence was intimidating.

She’s never been this angry at me before, ever.

She broke the silence, “Tell me, what happened at school today?”

Damian opened his mouth to reply and then closed it again, swallowing his words for a second, as he felt his mouth dry like the air in a desert. He said, “I…I got into a fight.”

“And,” said his mum.

“I got suspended.”

“What happened?”

“They were picking on me so I fought back.”

“Where they in your grade? Because how would you be able to beat them then” asked mum.

Damian said, “Yea, I just got mad and started on them, because they trash talked Dad. I don’t really know how, but I kicked one of them in the crotch and the other in the nose.”

Damian could see that His mum’s fingers began to clench, and tears started to form in the corner of her eyes, but that a calmer smile spread across her face. “Well, they did cross a line didn’t they, but it still gives you no excuses to hit someone in the face. What do you have to say.”

“Sorry Mum,” said Damian.

“Not to me, to them,” said mum, “Even if they don’t deserve it, no buts, no excuses. They may not deserve an apology, but you need to give an apology for yourself, for your own character... and while your here at home you still need to keep up with your school, but you will also have extra chores to do. ”

Damian groaned his head dropping down, “Ok.”

“Now if we don’t leave now you’ll be late for gym,” mum said. Damian felt like the day was already over, and as they drove over the car was completely silent with Damian lost in his own thoughts.

If that wasn’t a dream, and I have this power… then that makes me stronger, faster, and smarter. Won’t I just become the best at gymnastics. This is going to be amazing, Ayla will be blown away by my skill, and maybe she’ll talk to me.

A smile settled on his face as the car pulled into the parking lot.

Now this is epic.
