Sage's POV
I drive home, Sam blabbering about some shit in the back seat. I pull up to the house and no cars are here. I help Sam get out of the car and I unlock the door, pushing him through. I tell him to go sit on the couch and he surprisingly listens. I go into the kitchen and fill a glass up with cold water. I grab a sleeve of crackers and walk back to Sam. He is now watching Sponge bob, and I run upstairs to see if Levi was here unattended, or if mom brought him to Grans.
I open his door quietly, and walk over to his bed. I see a mound of blankets and some blond hair. I sigh and turn around and walk out, closing the door behind me. I go back down stairs to see Sam, with the water already gone and half of the sleeve of crackers gone also.
"Sam. Why don't you head up to bed. Be quiet. Levi is here."
"Mom left Levi here?!" He slurs out getting up and tripping up the stairs. I can't help but laugh. He points at me, "Hey. Stop laughing." witch makes me laugh even harder. At this point I was being louder then Sam and I was crying with how much I was laughing.
~~~~~~~~
I wake up to feel a tug on my blanket. "Five more minutes." I groan and someone starts jumping on the bed. I open my eyes and see Levi. He notices I'm awake and jumps one more time, landing next to me bouncing. I laugh a bit. "What do you want huh?" I say and mess up his hair.
"Sammy is sick!" He says and hops off the bed grabbing my hand and pulling it. "Come on!!"
"Okay okay I'm coming!" I say and get up letting him lead me to Sam crouching over the toilet. "Ew. Okay Levi, you and I are going to go make breakfast and Sammy can puke okay?" Levi nods excitedly and starts to pull me. "Go downstairs and wait for me, I'm gonna go get dressed." I say before shooing him off downstairs and going into my room sliding on a pair of gym shorts. I run downstairs and see Levi sitting on the couch facing the stairs.
"Sagey!" He says and walks over to me holding his arms up. I lift him up and walk into the kitchen. I place him on the counter.
"Pancakes?" I ask and he agrees fast. I pull out the flour, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and blueberries. I tell Levi to mix while I add all of the ingredients. We have a batter now and I ask Levi how big he wants the pancakes to be. He forms a large circle with his hands and I start making them.
All of the pancakes are done and I take the smallest one, and walk upstairs. I walk into the bathroom to see Sam laying down on the floor with his eyes closed. I put the pancake on the counter and reach into the cabinet and get two Advil for Sam. I fill one of the little Dixie cups with water and grab the pancake.
"Sam." I say and poke him with my foot. He slowly opens his eyes and smiles a bit. He sits up, and I give him the water and Advil first, then the pancake. He slowly eats the pancake and just as I'm about to go be stops me.
"Wait. I have a question." He says and looks at me. I sit back down and put my head in my hand. "Who was it you were talking to before I came over?"
"I'm not sure. I didn't catch his name." I say and start to stand up again.
"Wait." He says and I sit down and look at him. "What did he look like?"
"Um. He had brown and blond hair, brown eyes. And that's really it."
"What do you mean brown and blond hair?"
"He had brown roots and the top was brown, like he dyed it and it all washed out."
"I know who he is. Sage, please stay away from him. He is bad news." He looks at me with pleading eyes. I sigh, and stand up.
Before I leave the bathroom I turn around, "What's his name?"
"Kian Lawley." He says and I nod my head.
Telling me to stay away from him will make me want to be near him. I think and grab my phone going back downstairs and searching 'Kian Lawley' on twitter.
Embers in the Ash
Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!
The prizes are grand, but the chance to be the first players in this new game might be worth more than the prizes themselves.
