"Where did she go?" I ask the doctors "well.... Um...." The doctor says rubbing the back of his neck.
"Wait are you saying!!! she passed!!!" Sam yells as tears stream down my face.
I put my hand over my mouth to stop myself from screaming.
"NO NO NO!!" The doctor says "well. Where. Is. She?" I ask between sobs.
"Um..... Well just follow me" the doctor gestures us to follow.
We follow him to a room, which looks like the kemo room.
"Does she have a type of cancer?" Sam asks "because I don't think we can do that again, to hard" Sams adds putting his hands on my shoulders.
"No, not cancer but this morning when the nurse checked on her, her lips were purple. The most common for baby's is a hole in the heart, we've seen it before so we know what to do. But you have a choices we you can do the surgery, this week, when she's 1 or when she's 12" he says
Sam and I look at eachother, I think we are thinking the same thing "1" we say at the same time.
"Good choice so she has developed everything" Dr. Shawn says (I thought I would give him a name) "will she last that long?" I ask concerned.
"Of course, the only thing that will happen is she will be a little sick some days. And he lips will be a little purple" Dr.Shawn says.
We walk over to the tube where they are running tests, she's back to pink color not purple.
She's in a glass examining tube, just like the one I went into for kemo.
She has white gloves on and a blindfold, I can't see my daughter live like this!!!
I bolt out of the room and down to the cafeteria.. Tears rolling down my cheeks, my eyes start to hurt.

I walk back into the room and Sam and Sam aren't there.
"Excuse me Dr.Shawn where is Sam and Samantha?" I ask touching his shoulder.
He turns around "oh they went to Samantha's new room um? number '278" "ok thank you" I say, I start walking to the room.
I walk in and see Sam and Samantha cuddled up in bed. I take a picture and post it on twitter saying "Daddy and baby quality time, happy mommy".

The Fundamentals
You hear of many tales out there. Some depict worthy heroes wielding tremendous power, noble personas that fight to save the lives of their close friends, family, and all the rest. Good triumphs over evil, that is simply the way the world works, no? While this premise is something inherent to nearly all stories, what exactly the heroes used to attain success can differ greatly. Perhaps they've trained themselves to the limit, pushing past boundaries nobody else could hope to achieve. Others still, have merely inherited the grand legacy of another legendary being, but what they have done with such a legacy would cause their names to be passed on for generations. Rowan is one of the heroes who have ventured beyond the horizon, tempering themselves on a perilous journey all the while and succeeding in attaining strength beyond measure. However, in an unexpected turn of events, this strength caused him to tear open and fall through a hole in the realm he resided in. Now he has ended up in a completely foreign realm, whose inhabitants utilized strange powers that eclipsed his own. Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
