Douxie chuckles and get up. Claire and Douxie position themselves in front of the doors and Douxie flips open the book with his magic.
Claire looks ahead determined and I cheer from the side "you got this guys!"
------------------------------------------------
(
"Put your hands out like this." Douxie says and demonstrates how Claire needs to hold her hands out.
Claire does so.
"Beyond there is your destination, your emotional anchor." Douxie explains and points at the door.
"Got it."
"Then pull the magic around you. It will be your door to the Shadow Realm."
Claire does so and as a portal starts to form, she gasps, trying to hold it.
"That's it, that's it. Steady." Douxie says encouragingly "Eyes on point, mind on anchor." He reminds her "You got this."
"I'm scared." Claire says between pants.
"Magic is emotion. Don't let fear control you. Use it! Stay true to yourself. That will protect you from the shadows."
I smile as the portal begins to form further.
"Uh, Doux?" Claire asks, growing more and more scared.
"Don't be afraid, Claire. This is your magic. You can control it. Keep your eyes on point." Douxie instructs while trying to keep her calm.
Claire's breathing goes faster, she grunts and lets out a scream as the portal suddenly swallows her.
"Claire!" We call out worriedly.
"Doux, how do we bring her back?" Archie asks and Douxie flips through the pages of the book.
"Hold on. I can figure this out. It's gonna be fine."
"Fine? Shadows just ate her alive, man!" Steve shouts. "What are we gonna do?"
"That's Not helping Steve!" I sigh and turn to Douxie. I lay my hand on his shoulder to try and calm him "Claire is a tough and strong girl, she can make it out of there, I know it."

And after a few seconds she does come back and falls on top of us.
"Are you hurt?" I ask her worriedly.
"Claire! Claire, are you alright?" Douxie asks as well, puts his hands on her cheeks to pull her closer to check if there's any visible injuries.
"Give her some space." Archie pushes Douxie back.
"I saw her- a vision of Morgana. Was it really her? Or was it guilt, or fear, or-" Claire starts to rant but Douxie stops her.
"The Shadow Realm is a place of mystery. We understand if you don't want to go back in." Douxie says and I nod in agreement.
"No, it's okay. I'll be alright." Claire reassures us. "Thanks for talking me through it, Teach." Claire hands Douxie the book again.
We stand in front of the door and this time Claire can open the portal.
I cheer and congratulate her "good job Claire! I knew you could do it!"
"Thanks, Mailin." Claire smiles and we walk through the portal.
Once out on the other side, Douxie and I conjure a spell that brings us some light.
"I'd say we've arrived." Douxie says as we look around.
"Yeah, but where's Merlin?" Claire asks.
Steve shrieks when a raft with lanterns drifts towards us, Excalibur's handle stuck in it.
"Uh, he can handle himself." Douxie says. "Let's just stick to the plan and find the Lady." He takes the sword and climbs onto the raft. "And everything will be fine."
Steve, Claire and I climb on board after him.
We move to the middle of the lake and as the fog lightens a Lady rises, glowing all turquoise.
"I am the Lady, Nimue, Eldest of Oracles. Why do you seek me?" Her voice echoes graceful and powerful through the cave.

Douxie turns to us "Okay, everyone, just be nice to the goddess. I'll sort this." He turns back to face the Lady "Oh, mighty Lake Lady we are here to request your aid."
"And we're missing and old wizard, if you've seen one." Archie adds.
"I can give you what you seek." Nimue says.
Douxie grins and gives us a thumbs up before turning back to Nimue "Only you can help us on our quest to fix Excalibur and save Camelot."
Nimue moves towards us "That is not which you truly desire. You seek redemption from a scorned mentor." She says to Douxie.
"Escape from guilt." She moves past Claire.
"Validation of Knighthood." She says to Steve.
"And you seek... roasted salmon?" She says confused to Archie, who responses with "guilty."
"You seek Chicken Nuggets?" Nimue says to me confused to which I shrug.
She moves back and the water trashes with her anger "You are not the first to try and deceive me. You are not worthy!" She shouts, her voice distorted.
"That is no lady!" Douxie realizes while Steve screams.
Huge tentacles rise and one takes Steve, and the sea monster eats him.
"Steve!" We shout but it's too late.
"Now onto your rewards." The lady turns to us "Such puny creatures make tasty meals!"
One tentacle grabs Douxie but he cuts it off with the broken Excalibur. Archie breathes fire at her, but it doesn't hurt her.
"I hate to say it, but perhaps we should've stayed on the ship!" Archie lands on the raft which is trashing violently.
Archie pushes us back with his fire, but the lady follows us.
"We need to subdue her, so she'll fix Excalibur!" Douxie shouts.
"We need to get Steve out of this seaside freak show!" Claire shouts.
We reach the shore, but the monster rises out of the water, its huge eye staring at us.
"Oh, fuzz buckets." Douxie and I groan.
The monster throws a Pillar at us, but Douxie tosses it back with his magic. It hits it and it spits out Merlin and Steve.
The monster tells us Merlin trapped it and Douxie blasts open the cave by destroying Excalibur, telling it to go.
The monster rewards him with a new one and leaves.
Merlin scolds Douxie, again and we leave the cave.

To Become a Troll: A Monster Evolution Story
Thrust into the supernatural world of the deep forest, Paul finds himself in a situation where he could find himself prey to pretty much every other creature and animal around. If he's to survive, he must shed his weak form to grow stronger and survive. But the forest is full of creatures beyond human understanding, that act without the need for food or shelter and that seem to exist for the sole purpose of dragging humans to the bottom of a murky river. Is it really possible to kill such creatures when your only strength is physical prowess? --- A monster evolution story based on Swedish creature mythology. The focus will overwhelmingly be on the progression of the main character and his slow increase in strength. Although many of the creatures are based on Swedish creature mythology, I have taken creative liberties in order to ensure that evolution lines and the such are in line with the usual. The main thought I had when going into this is that I want to delay the "meeting a human" section as much as possible. My plan is to get him to endgame levels of strength before even sniffing the possibility of seeing a human. Whether I'm actually able to do this remains to be seen, but I'm holding my thumbs! Also, I'm aware that there are other troll evolution stories, but this is unrelated to them. They can do their stuff and I'll do mine, but this is in no way related to any of them. That said, hope you enjoy it!

THE GOTHAMITE is a BATMAN-centric sidequel to The Metropolitan Man, by Alexander Wales, though it is intended to be able to stand on its own. Stealing Is An Art Form | ✓
Solace Laurent and Sage Reyes never got along. They fought and competed over everything, whether it was grades or afterschool clubs. She hated his arrogant, I-don't-care-about-the-rules behaviour and he loved to annoy her. Not one day went by in high school when an argument didn't break out until he disappeared without a trace. Solace, along with Sage's family and the entire school, thought he was dead. After months of criminal investigations, search parties, and missing persons posters, he was nowhere to be found. But what happens when Sage shows up at her doorsteps in the middle of the night, bruised and bloody?***"Sage?" whispered Solace in utter shock. He smirked at her as he leaned against the doorframe, looking her up and down from her blue penguin pajamas to her oversized t-shirt until he met her eyes. She felt a rush of emotions when she heard his voice after six months. It was the same: deep, unbothered, and familiar. "Solace Laurent, I need your help."
