《Your Problem》Chapter 6

Something crashed with a loud bang, startling the trollhunters awake. Aargh was the first to notice Blinky's absence, and he picked up his best friend's scent moving out of the room- mingled with that of Merlin. Jim shook his head and growled, his armor materializing in response to his darkening mood.
Jim tracked the scent to a room not far from the library, and he threw open the door, sword at the ready. The room's walls were blackened, Merlin and Blinky slumped against opposite sides of the room. Blinky was awake, covered with soot and staring at his hands. While the trollhunters were happy to see Blinky back to normal, all of them could see something was wrong.
Merlin's lifeless body lay on the floor, charred and strangely shrunken. Toby prodded the wizard with his foot and shuddered when the body rolled over, showing the dead, glazed eyes. Jim reached down to help Blinky to his feet, but the troll shrank away. "Don't touch me, I can't control it yet, it's too much."
Confused, Jim looked to Claire, who shrugged helplessly. "Merlin attempted to kill me- he somehow figured out that I have inherent magic and he wanted it for himself. He's done it to others as well. Merlin told me that he was going to kill all of you next, and I think I reversed the spell on him. I have all of his magic now, but I don't know what to do with it. Nobody can touch me until I can be sure that I won't accidentally channel it into you- it could kill you."
Blinky's hair stood on end, and the sparks now crawled over his entire body. "Did Merlin ever finish healing the heartstone?" Aargh shook his head and Blinky nodded. "Then I believe I may have a solution."

Blinky pressed his hands to the heartstone, groaning as his magic filled the heartstone, slowly restoring it to its original golden color. Once done, Blinky sighed in relief, feeling so much better now that the excess magic wasn't itching at his skin. Then he turned and hugged his friends, glad that they were all alright.
"So you can do magic now?" Claire asked sometime later. Blinky shrugged and paused from organizing his books to think. "Yes, but I do not think I will. It seems a lot more trouble than it is worth. Besides, I believe that I have had enough of wizards for at least a few centuries."

Shrike
He wants to play the latest and greatest VRMMORPG game, but he can't muster up the cash for the fancy new proprietary hardware and membership license. After months of saving up cash and arduous work, he has built a behemoth of a machine relying almost entirely on seedy old technology and a DIY guide by some dude named "Jimmy Bob." This is the story of his entry into the game. This is also a story of intrigue, exploration, introspection, batshit crazy game design, and unintended but entirely predictable consequences. This is G.C.O. Undergoing a total re-write, mostly because I think things were too rushed rather than any content or direction changes. If you are one of the few who tried Shrike when it was briefly updating, consider giving it another shot. Of no relation to either The Great Crusade or the recent (in 2017 lol) Shrike book for Warhammer by Games Workshop. All similarities in these cases are superficial; please don't sue me. Feedback welcome and encouraged, never be afraid to review or comment. HQ/Kindle-Grade cover art. Book Cover 2.0: "From the Dark"
