《Bonnie Bennett Reborn | TVD》04 | Child Prodigy

"Okay Bonnie, I took something of yours, something you care about." Grams tells me as I stand in the forest with her, a blinded old around my eyes.

"I hid it somewhere in the woods." She explains.

"What did you take?" I ask in my small voice. I'm now eight and I've been training everyday.

"I can't tell you that. You need to find it with your magic and intuition all on your own." She challenges, "You have thirty minutes."

I know I could dive into her mind and find exactly what she took and where she put it. I don't. I want to use my magic, not my psychic powers.

I crouch down, settling my hands on the forest floor. I can use the nature around me to boost my magic. I focus, knowing this test is in the realm of divination magic as well as locator spells.

But there is a level that may not involve magic at all; what she took.

"Aspectrum ultra aspectrum."

The Latin flows easily, the words meaning, "Sight beyond sight." The spell allows me to see a place I have already been, a place I can visualize in my mind.

I visualize my room and it is as though my conscious is transported there.

The spell is dizzying and affects one's sense of time, so I know I need to hurry in order to find what is missing and get back.

I look around my room, completely lost on what's been taken. Until I find it's the most obvious thing. My bed is missing it's centerpiece, the crown jewel of you will, Ms. Cuddles.

I grin and chant. "Reverte." Returning me to my place on the forest floor.

I stand up and raise my hands at my sides and chant quietly under my breath. "Duc me ad Ms. Cuddles."

I feel a tug on my magic and start walking through the forest. Following the pull of my spell. I easily make way through the dense trees, not hitting a single one, not tripping over a rock or root, not stumbling, not second guessing myself one bit.

"Stop." Grams eventually tells me and I halt in my spot. Turning to face her voice.

"Take the blindfold off."

I pull off the white blindfold and see I'm over the burnt down church where the tomb is.

Atop a tree stump, maybe three steps in front of me, sits my teddy bear.

"I swear you're like a child witch prodigy."

The comment makes me laugh as I pick up the little bear and turn to Grams. "What's next?"

I spar with Jayden. He's a tall boy, about thirteen years old and strong. Him and I are the youngest current blue belts in our MMA classes which have recently been recognized in competition as one of the top training clubs in the country. Us being blue belts means we're like a high middle level. There is still purple, brown, and black.

He goes to kick my side but I block with my forearms and then block his left fist as he continues his offensive attacks.

I take hold of the fist and turn as I use his weight and force against him to flip him over my shoulder and onto his back.

Quickly, I lower down and rotate around to pin him to the mat in a strong arm bar as he eventually taps out.

"Very good, Bonnie." Our instructor tells me.

I nod in a thank you and help Jayden up quickly.

"You too, Jayden." She tells my opponent and friend. "Just remember, sometimes you need to not overdo the offensive. Waiting for the right time to strike from a defensive position can often be your best move."

"Yes Sensei." Jayden nods.

After class, our Sensei approaches me with her usual kind smile but strong aura. "Bonnie." She addresses.

"Hi." I nod at her, standing with my now packed bag and slinging it on my back as I hold my water bottle in hand.

"There is a tournament next weekend and I would like for you to join our team there. You've not competed in a couple months, so it would be a good chance for you to possibly move up to a purple belt and practice with someone who isn't from our class."

"Oh, yea." I smile. "I'll ask my dad."

"Great, here's the paperwork you need to turn into me for me to get you signed ip if you decide to come with." She hands me a small packet. "It also has info about the tournament."

"Thank you."

"Bonnie!" Caroline exclaims happily and hugs me when I walk into gymnastics. "I've missed you."

"Care, I saw you at school." I deadpan.

She rolls her eyes. "Yea but like I got put in the time out square for putting paint on Matt for makeup during recess, and the teacher separated us last week for talking too much. So it's like we didn't even hang out at all!"

I laugh with a big smile on my face at her over the top personality and set my things down with Caroline's and Elena's.

Soon we're getting stretched out and are doing our usual Gymnastics warm up with Coach Wickers. I probably won't continue gymnastics as I get older but I think it can be really good for you to do and expand upon your flexibility, strength, and agility. Basically, it'll help me in the long run.

Caroline and Elena are just doing it before they join competition cheer, which according to Caroline is, "Totally, like really, really intense."

I mean I'm sure it's really competitive and takes athletics and skill. I don't understand people saying it's not a sport. I do however understand the hate on sideline cheer and how it's not a sport.

If I'm watching a basketball game, I don't want it blocked by cheerleaders standing in front of the bleachers doing chants. It just annoys me and I don't see how that qualifies as a spot. But when they're competing and doing these crazy flips and organized moves, that's a sport. For sure it is.

I shake my head as I ignore the debate over that in my own mind and return my focus to our starter tumbling drills.

They split us into groups after warmups by gender and skill group.

I'm in the boy's green group, which is one of the higher ones, but not super good. I'm not the best at gymnastics but I'm also an eight year old so I'll get better.

I enjoy the training, I enjoy the little breaks for water when I get to talk with my friend, I enjoy the fifteen minutes of free time they give us at the end to basically play, and I especially enjoy the sore feeling of my workout from the day.

I had school, training for my magic, MMA class, and Gymnastics. When I get home, I shower and then pass out in bed, tired.

These busy days are only Tuesdays and Thursdays because while I have school and witch training Monday-Friday, Gymnastics is only Monday-Thursday, and MMA is only Tuesday, Thursday, and then an optional Saturday morning practice which I almost always attend. The weekends I practice magic on my own and work on my psychic abilities.

To say I keep busy is an understatement. Though I also find free time when I can. Whether it's time with friends, a movie night with Grams, or just sitting down with a good book, I find my moments of relaxation and I savor them.
