《Humanity》Chapter 0 - The Beginning of my Story

Since the invention of gunpowder Man no longer has any natural predators. On earth we are at the top of the food chain. We are a race that exceeds its carrying capacity and spreads its influence across every corner of the globe. Humans have conquered every beast and every disaster that was thrown its way. (Except Global Warming of course :-])
However, that dominance lies only within the earth itself. When compared to all other races we are by far the weakest. We just lack that special “thing” that makes us stand out. It’s to be expected of course for we, being born without fangs, claws or the ability to perceive magic, chose to develop our intellect instead.
Despite our best efforts we are not a violent race, we were never created to be one. It is said that God created us in his image. I don’t know if that is true or not but one thing is for sure, God favors us extremely.
Never thought God would play favorites huh? Well without him humanity would be finished. He has protected Mankind since the first chapter in its conception. He established a barrier which prevented other races or aliens, as we call them, from invading and also granted us the ability to develop faster than most races. Now you know why we never saw anything when we looked to the stars. I mean seriously, we have evolved to such a high degree in such a small span of time.
Every teenage boy’s pocket contains a device that can carry out millions of processes per second, a smartphone. Just a few decades ago computers were rare and now they are compacted into the palms of our hands. This kind of evolution would take millions or billions of years for other races. Yet we are the most ungrateful race ever.

We blame him for everything and he just leaves us be. God has accepted the way we are, truly a fine divine being, however he is the only one who believes we are worthy of such respect in the entire universe.
There is a reason Mankind has remained hidden from the eyes in the stars. You know how a mom dotes on and spoils her youngest child. Well it’s similar to that. In Gods eyes humanity is his greatest creation. Too bad his other creations don’t share the same sentiment. Every other race wants its chance in the spotlight and would take any opportunity to exterminate the human race. We, being the youngest race, wouldn’t stand a chance hence the need for God’s barrier.
But there is one event where all of this hate and jealousy can be expended- Colossal Impact. A massive, bloody, free-for-all style tournament that is held every 267 earth years. One representative is chosen from each race and is transported to the tournament grounds to do battle.
Even with God’s disagreement the tournament is still carried out in favor of the other “divine” beings’ decisions. God has helped us as much as he could however the result remains the same- defeat.
Now enough exposition. Hopefully you got the message. However if you are like me and couldn’t bother to pick up on anything from that here is the summary.
Humans= shit compared to everyone else
God= Good guy
Everyone else= Bad Guy
I do hope you continue to read on and picked up on something special at the end of this journal. The reason I put pen to paper was to tell of a journey spanning galaxies. As my end draws near with each passing second I want to narrate a tale to inspire losers to be heroes. A tale of friends and enemies, love and hate, death and birth… This is my story.

Macabre Mim
*Note: This story is on hiatus. I intend to pick it up again, but the mood of my life has shifted for the time being and I'm going to be working on a side project for a bit.* What would you give to live the life of your dreams? What kind of deal would you make? And when you were there, forced to stare your dreams in the eye and live them every day, how long would it be... before they broke you? Author's note: This is my first excursion outside the realm of villain fan fiction and I welcome feedback. The thing I've loved most about RRL so far is the potential for writing to be an interactive experience with excited readers. That said, also, the primary genre this is intended for is the blossoming realm of LitRPG. Namely, a slice of life tale in the manner of Grimgar or Re:Zero. So, likewise, I don't expect there will ever be a clear beginning-middle-and-end type of pattern to this story. It will likewise always be a bit more of a reactionary, exploratory novel into realms unknown - much like the 1800 travel-novel theme used by Jules Verne. Or, at least, that is my ambition.

New Escape
In a world not that unlike the present exists a fantastic technology to transfer one's consciousness into a game. A new frontier for video games has been opened, and my first experience in this world is an rpg. An escape from monotony and school has led me to experience a brand new world.(I originally lost my motivation for this story and kinda wanted to kill it, but I brought it into this world so I will fix it. I'll probably re-write the first chapters and include a more compelling story. Didn't really write the story for people to read in the first place and after I put it on here I stopped caring, but I am changed!(not too much but just a little))

At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
