《A Collection of Short Stories: Quiet Girl》24. Girls night out!

Cassie was resting back on her couch while some calming music played in the back. She let out a relaxed sigh and pulled the blanket over her chest a bit more.
"I should honestly get in bed, but where's the harm in sleeping on the couch?" Cassie felt herself slowly drifting off and right as she was going to, there was a loud knocks at her door. She was disturbed by the noise and checked the time. It's eight at night, who is here? She got up and checked through the peephole only to see the familiar face of Jessica. Cassie opened the door.
"Good, you're still up." Jessica said inviting herself into the home, behind her was Keris and Quana, but they were all dressed up.
"Hey Cassie... why aren't you ready?" Quana said.
"What are you talking about?"
"Didn't Jess say we were going out?" Cassie frowned and forgot for a second that Quana was even in front of her.
"No, she didn't." Cassie said through her teeth.
"Oh right, we're going out Cassie." Jessica said from Cassie's bedroom. Cassie went into the bedroom and saw Jessica digging through her drawers. "Do you have anything decent to wear? You either have I'm going to a wedding or I'm not going out."
"Because both of those statements are true." Jessica just laughed a bit, "I have stuff for fancy events and that's all. I don't wear uncomfortable clothes casually." Jessica got up holding a pair of tan pants.
"Well, these will have to work. Ask Keris why we're here while I try and find a decent shirt." Cassie sighed and went back to the living room finding Quana and Keris lounging around.
"Can I ask why you guys are here?" Quana jumped to her feet.
"Because Jess said we're having a girl's night out!" Cassie wasn't in the mood, Keris began to talk.
"Jess said the place she wanted to go to has a discount if you're with a group."
"So that's why." Cassie sat down and Quana joined them. "Well, you two look cute," The girls smiled, "But can I ask why Jess is wearing that?" Before either of them could answer, some clothes were dropped onto Cassie's lap. Jessica then sat down while crossing her legs.
"Why not?" Cassie's eyes drifted to her chest, Jessica had only been wearing a decorative lace bra and it was somewhat distracting. Cassie pulled herself from that.
"Really, why are you all dressed so... good?" Cassie questioned.
"I've just never worn this jumpsuit before." Keris admitted.
"This is pretty much what I always wear, so I don't know what you mean." Quana stated. Cassie nodded and got up with the clothes in her arms.
"I'll be right back then..."
It didn't take very long for Cassie to get dressed and they were soon off after Cassie got dressed and was walking around the city, it was about thirty minutes into their walk that Cassie was curious as to why they were still walking.
"So I guess we're just never going to this place then?" Cassie said hunching even further over.
"We are, but it's not open yet." Jessica began, "It opens at ten thirty."
"Then why did you get me so early?"
"Because I really didn't think you would have had anything presentable." Jessica said.

"Besides, I like walking around during the night! I don't have to worry about any loser adults looking at me funny while I skip!" Quana said.
"Don't be such a kid." Keris said.
"Don't be so stiff!" She began to playfully argue with Keris.
"Jess, I know you needed a group for this, but aren't they enough?" Cassie asked.
"Damn, you never want to go out anywhere." Jessica complained. What was your first clue! "Look stop complaining. I know you'll like this place, plus I'm paying."
"Really? I'm not gonna get stuck with half the bill like always?" Cassie asked.
"Nope. Seko told me to go all out. He's been sick for a while and told me to go out and have some fun."
"You didn't tell us that!" Quana suddenly interjected. "We're not gonna catch anything are we?"
"Chill out, am I sick?"
"You never know." Keris said, "But if you guys start feeling sick I have some cough drops."
"Why?" Cassie asked with a laugh.
"Because they taste good." She simply explained.
"Then I'll take one now!" Quana said, Keris dug around in her purse until she found the medicine.
"I mean, we don't know what he had, so I doubt if that'll help." Cassie said.
"I know, but Keris is right, they do taste good."
"Do you want one?" Keris offered, Cassie removed her hands from her jacket pockets and got two from her.
"You guys are so annoying. You're not gonna get sick because I don't have anything!" Jessica yelled.
"Speaking of annoying, you're wearing a blazer with no shirt on and all those attention-grabbing necklaces Jess." She looked to Cassie.
"Then that means I'm wearing this well." Jessica boasted, "But in reality, it's just because I didn't want to wear a shirt with this jacket, it's uncomfortable. Plus I then get to go home and just jump straight into bed."
"You only sleep with a bra on? Even when it's cold I have to have on shorts and a shirt." Quana said.
"I can't sleep with clothes on in general." Keris said.
"You take going commando to a new level." Jessica said.
"What about you Cassie?" Cassie sighed a bit.
"I can't sleep with pants on, but I have to have everything else on."
"I bet that's cute." Keris said.
"I bet a boyfriend shirt would be perfect for you Cassie!" Quana said. Cassie looked at her.
"You know, you're always talking about what would be cute on people, why not get into fashion?" Quana shrugged.
"I want to, but I don't know where I even start."
"Retail for one thing." Keris suddenly said.
"Then you can go into designing outfits and posting them." Jessica added.
"Yeah, what you're wearing now is really cute and most of your clothes are a cute style." Cassie finished with that and Quana giggled. She went ahead of them and began to walk backwards in front of them.
"You all are so nice to me! For sure then I'll consider it!" They smiled at her, "But for now keep complimenting my outfit, I worked really hard on this!"
...
Once ten hit, they went to the bar and their reservation was taken. The girls were walked to one of the many rooms in the back. The waiter told them to ring the bell once they were ready to order; now they were finally alone.

"This place is huge!" Quana said going over to the TV in the room, "Where'd you hear about this place Jess?"
"At work. Some of my co-workers were complaining they didn't have enough people to go with. Thankfully I know you guys."
"Hey," They all looked to Keris, "It says if we order over a certain amount, we get two free meals to take home."
"I'm taking it." Cassie suddenly said.
"See? This is why I figured it'd be a good idea to have you here Cassie!" Jessica said, "So order a lot then, we're already getting a discount." Quana went over to sit beside Cassie and looked at the menu.
...
Their night was going by quickly, and when their food arrived, everyone had found something to keep their high energy going. The room had a TV and a few games on it, Quana and Jessica were playing while Keris and Cassie were in the back eating until they got full.
"Ugh! I can't beat this one part!" Quana groaned and threw her hands down, she turned to Cassie. "You play video games, get me through this." Cassie smiled and got up taking the controller. Quana was about to sit down, but she saw a shadow at their door, she went to it and opened it. "Why the hell are you- Oh, Chris?" Upon hearing that, they paused the game and turned to the door seeing Chris standing there. Cassie looked behind him and saw Shugi there as well. Jessica then went over to the door.
"No, I don't care what you need you're not about to bother us." Jessica began to push him out the door.
"We just wanted to see Cassie for a bit." Chris said calmly as she pushed him.
"No, we're having girl's night out and unless you have something to tell me, that means you can't be here." Chris chuckled.
"See, this is arrest worthy." Shugi said.
"Oh whatever." She managed to get them out and shut the door. Jessica sighed. "Why are they here?" Jessica asked.
"I don't know, we could have found out if we just asked them." Keris said.
"If we give them a second of attention... well if Cassie gives them a second of attention, they'll never leave her alone!" Jessica said.
"She's not wrong." Quana said, she began to skip back to Cassie's side. "But what's more important is getting me past this level." Cassie nodded and they resumed playing.
...
It was now twelve and after two hours inside the room, they decided to start heading home. They left the room they had and were now on the street as Quana happily walked beside Cassie.
"You're really good at video games Cassie!" Quana said.
"She plays them all the time, why would she be bad at them?" Keris scoffed while saying that.
"You can play them all the time and still be terrible." Quana said.
"That's pretty much right, my brother fits that bill pretty well." Cassie said. They laughed at her comment.
"Isn't it too late for all this laughing?" They looked beside them and saw Amai.
"Why the fuck-" Jessica's voice got soft.
"Why is someone famous out right now? I bet I can get an exclusive scoop and get my five minutes of fame!" Quana said that while taking out her phone and immediately recording him.
"I'm just out here because I wanted a snack I didn't have at home." He explained.
"It's midnight, you could just go to sleep?" Keris wondered.
"I'm going to be relaxing the whole day tomorrow and I'm not going out at all." He explained, he then looked to Cassie. "But you look good." Cassie blushed and looked off. Amai chuckled a bit at that.
"Okay, so I don't see a bag, so you should head off and get your snacks." Jessica said as she began to walk off with everyone else. "It was nice talking."
"Alright, see you all." He then walked off in the opposite direction. Once they were far enough away from him, Jessica began to talk.
"I swear, how do these guys find you?" Quana laughed.
"They must have a radar that they keep and when Cassie is near it goes off and they go huntin'!" She laughed loudly at her own comment.
"It honestly feels like that though." Keris said.
"Seriously Cassie, this doesn't get annoying?" Jessica asked. Cassie glared at her.
"No, I actively hope to see all of them in one day." Cassie slightly rolled her eyes as she spoke.
"No need to be sarcastic." Jessica said.
"Of course, it's annoying, but..."
"But what?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah, you always say it's too much, or it's annoying or whatever, but yet you don't tell them to stop?"
"Well for one thing I'm not that kind of person, and the other issue is that they're... r-really pretty so I-I'm willing to overlook it." Quana nearly fell over while Keris simply let out a laugh.
"I knew it!" Quana said.
"Good looks is all Cassie needs!" Keris said. Cassie just let out a breath trying to calm down.
"Still, it doesn't matter what she thinks. Tonight is supposed to be about us, we talk about them enough." Jessica clarified.
"Please, I'd like nothing more than to not think about them when I can." Cassie let out a small breath as she went back to walking normally. Quana nodded and went to Cassie's side, she linked her arms and clung to Cassie.
"Then let me have your jacket! I'm cold now."
"If you knew you were going to wear that, why not bring a jacket?" Cassie asked.
"I did." Keris said.
"Because nothing looked cute with this." Quana explained. They all just sighed, Cassie then removed her jacket and handed it to Quana. "Thank you!"
"Well, hopefully only they were out. We should go home before anymore of them find us, but first we should get some dessert." Jessica suggested.
"Oh, I know this one place that's open twenty-four seven!" Quana grabbed Cassie and Keris' and began to run off. "And since Jess is paying we need to hurry up and get there!"
"You're such a kid Quana!" Jessica yelled as she simply paced behind them. Keris and Cassie were laughing by this point and it seemed like their night was going to end well.
