[Vince is back in his classroom, everybody working while Mr Hyde is typing on his laptop. He looks above him at a clock pointing to be half past 4. He gets up, stretching his arm a bit.]
Hyde: Sorry, I’ve lost track of time, it’s the end of day folks.
[Vince looks over to Hyde while the rest of the students turn off their computers and prepare to leave. He notices Hyde’s phone next to the laptop buzzing quickly from notifications. He gets up from his computer and sees the text hidden, but from someone called “Witley Barbit”. He thinks for a moment, but stops once Hyde picks up his phone and looks it over. He turns off his computer and gets his bag.]
Vince: Have a good day, sir.
Hyde: [distracted] You too.
[Vince opens the door and leaves the room, but stumbles as something hits his leg. He falls into the wall and looks down to see Cheshire, who is purring and now has orange spots across his black fur. The other students leave the room, taking notice of Cheshire, as Liv barges her way through and picks him up.]
Liv: There you are! You silly thing…
[She pets him in her arms as Leigh and Chelsea come over.]
Chelsea: Hey Vince.
Vince: [thinking] Hey guys.
Leigh: Want a lift? We’re heading to the club house.
Vince: [thinking] Why are we doing that?
Leigh: Little showcase. Our powers. You in?
[Vince looks at his reflection in the door, smiling.]
Vince: Yeah, sounds good.
[The group move, Vince following behind them as Liv continues to play with Cheshire in her arms. After that it cuts to show Vince, Liv and Cheshire at the back garden of the house, the windows all boarded up and the grass overgrown. There’s a large portion in the garden where the grass has been stomped down and there is a goal that has been abandoned. Immediately Vince walks over to it, grabbing the top and hanging with his arms.]

Vince: [curious] Hey, so where is Gary? I thought he'd be here.
Liv: Oh, you know him, he's just... coping with stuff. Getting used to it, y'know?
Vince: Yeah, that's fair. So… who’s going first?
[Liv looks at Vince and Cheshire.]
Liv: Well… we certainly have our options.
Leigh: Here you are!
[Leigh and Chelsea exit from the building. Both are carrying toy balls, Chelsea trying to juggle two as they come out. Leigh throws one over at Vince.]
Leigh: [smug] Mind if I go first? I fancy showing off.
[Vince shrugs, moving out of the goal.]
Vince: Just make sure I go last.
[Vince moves next to Liv as Chelsea moves next to him. Leigh moves into the goal and stretches his arms. He turns to face the group, big smile on his face, and throws over the balls that he’s carrying to Vince who catches them.]
Leigh: Okay… chuck em over.
[Vince and Liv look at each other.]
Liv: [hesitant] Um, Leigh, I don’t think I wa-
[Chelsea gives a loud battlecry and throws a ball overhead at Leigh. He raises his hand and ends up catching the ball. He sighs.]
Chelsea: I thought you were psychic and all.
Leigh: [smug] Just a warm up, it’s just a warm up!
[He throws the ball up and hits it back over to Chelsea.]
Leigh: Gimme time, throw some more.
Vince: When do we stop?
Leigh: When I can do it properly?
[The group shrugs and start throwing balls at Leigh again. The first two he normally catches and throws back. He reaches up to get the third one, causing it to pull down into his hands.]
Leigh: [happy] See! Did it!
[He throws the ball back, moving to catch another and completely missing. The ball flies back into the bushes.]

Liv: Nevermind.
[She throws the ball at Leigh, hitting him in the head.]
Chelsea: [offended] Hey!
Liv: [defensive] I thought that he’d catch it!
Chelsea: [offended] Well obviously not!
[Vince throws another ball at Leigh. He raises a hand and it stops mid air.]
Vince: Want a break?
Leigh: Thank you.
[Leigh comes back over, Vince patting Leigh on the back.]
Vince: Who next then?
Liv: Well… I can’t because mine would involve stabbing someone or… breaking a finger.
Chelsea: And I’d have to get coffee from somewhere.
Liv: [realization] Oh my god! Cheshire can do it!
[Cheshire purrs and walks forward, Liv petting behind his ear as his colour starts changing again.]
Leigh: Come on, we already know what your cat can do.
Chelsea: Are you really keeping the cat?
Liv: [happy] Yes… yes I am.
[Liv smiles as Vince folds his arms, subtly scratching behind his right ear while Cheshire slowly fades into white with bright blue eyes.]
Vince: Well… I guess it’s my turn then.
Chelsea: Yeah, good idea! But we’d need to go somewhere with a…
[Chelsea and Leigh look at Vince and freeze in surprise as they see Vince’s eyes and hair start to glow. He looks over at them from the side and smiles abnormally wide.]
Vince: [surprised] Tada.
[Vince breaks into a chuckle as Liv turns around and notices, stopping petting Cheshire as they were purple with white stripes and yellow eyes.]
Liv: [surprised] Oh my god!
[Vince stops, laughing to himself, as his hair settles on blue and his eyes settle to be green and brown.]
Leigh: [surprised] What the hell? That’s so cool!
Chelsea: [surprised] Nice colours…
Liv: [surprised] Wait, so… are you the cat then?
[Vince chuckles, shaking his head and walking into the goal.]
Vince: [nervous] Well, it’s kinda hard to explain.
Leigh: [surprised, curious] Well explain it then!
[Leigh throws the ball at Vince, who holds his hand up straight and stops the ball in front of him. He waves it to the side and the ball drifts slowly back over to Leigh. He smiles again, his hair and eyes returning to brown.]
Vince: [nervous] I can use any power. If I see it.
[Liv smiles wide, very impressed. Leigh takes the ball in shock, trying to speak. Chelsea stutters a bit, trying to speak.]
Vince: Cool, right?

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). When it’s long it means that the chapter will just have that much content in it. There’s Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Comedy, and some Psychological undertakings. The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
