So you think you've seen humans mad before? Heh. Pour us another drink recruit, and listen close to an old spear-leader.
Ahh, that's the good stuff. You've probably seen an angry human before. Drill Master 'Nasty', going by the base you came from. Yeah, I know old man Kong. He never gets mad. He gets loud, drives you hard enough to break so he can build you back they way you need to be to live out here on the front.
Take a sip, It'll help with the shaking. Local rotgut, but we're not back in the capital now are we?
What's that, human shock-troops? Yeah, they get angry sometimes. Enemy drops one or three in a break-through. They get hot-rage, start flinging fire and fury. We call that a burn-in. Give the survivors a day or three to mourn their dead, leave 'em alone until they come home.
See the quiet one in the corner? He's a Lone Wolf, last man left in his squad after a burn-in went wrong.
Drink some more, and fill us back up again. You look like you could use it.
Yeah, a burn-in went wrong. They kicked down the door and went in, smooth as can be. 'Cept it wasn't a half-sleeping supply base. It was a Muster Ground on full alert. Lone Wolf there was the last one standing when the embers finally went out. They burned the whole place to the ground. Forty-to-one odds, and Lone Wolf still comes back.
Scared huh? That's fine. I was too.
Why's he drinking alone? Because he went past hot-rage, and he's drinking to forget.
What happens when a Human goes past hot-rage? Vdekje happens.
A mana-crystal detonation? So that's what the official reports said. I wondered how they'd spin it. Nah, Lone Wolf happened.
What'd he do? He doesn't say, but I had the same question a while back. So I stuck my nose in. He went missing after the burn-in went wrong, took a knife and some food. We figured he'd be back after he had cooled down some. Three weeks later, he comes back in, looking all worn out, blood everywhere. Whatever report he made is still sealed, but I was on the team that traced his trail. Guess the higher ups wanted confirmation.

Pour us another, and keep the bottle this time. You're going to want it. We found Vdekje, right where Lone Wolf said it was. Ice everywhere, frozen blood, frozen bodies. Knife-work, all of it. Took his time on some of them.
Yeah, Ice. Even here, even in this overheated tropical hell-hole. Two weeks after the last of them died. Lone Wolf hasn't stopped drinking since. Neither have I.

Yokai Academy
What does it really mean to be 'human'?Is it our intellect? Our morals? Or just a title we have associated with everything that is 'good' and 'right' in this world? Are Yokai really only the monsters everyone makes them out to be or is there more to these living myths that have reappeared in our modern times? Our protagonist Zeke will find out what really is behind the mask that they show everyone else as he attends a certain Academy...Warning!: The setting is less than original and I am trying out a new style of writing so should you find it unbearable please don't feel like you are forced to read this!
8 189What Happened to the Mouse?
Seven years ago, Maria's mother vanished, and she was taken in by her Uncle Johann, a reclusive inventor. Now she stands accused of her uncle's murder under circumstances that mirror her mother's disappearance: a locked room, a sole suspect, and a lab mouse that appeared seemingly out of nowhere. As the building is locked down, a hard-nosed federal agent launches an investigation under a cloak of secrecy. Whatever Uncle Johann's latest invention does, it's dangerous enough to be locked away forever. And if Maria can't uncover the truth, she will meet the same fate. In this interactive story, it is up to you to use your comments to study the clues, solve the riddles, and help Maria clear her name. RELEASE SCHEDULE: One 1000-2000 word chapter is released every week on Monday. When a chapter is relatively low on interaction, a second chapter may be released mid-week to compensate.

8 819Slime of Gluttony
_____ ___, a completely and utterly deplorable person. Lazy, apathetic, and unmotivated. He spends his time as a shut-in, wasting his life away doing nothing of importance. This is the life of the man, a life of no importance. At the impulse of desiring food, he left his small and cramped apartment. Regretting his actions immediately, he was left with the prospect of a complete panic attack due to the numerous amount of people outside at that day. However, he pressed on, determined to find some sort of delicious food to consume. Life had other plans for him. He gets hit by a car, and after hearing strange words from an even stranger voice, he dies. However, minutes, hours, maybe even days later, he awakes, his senses of smell, sight, and hearing robbed of him. Author's Note: This is my first story on Royal Road, so it might not be the best. Although, I hope you enjoy! I'll probably write around 2000 words or more per chapter, but on average a bit more. If you're wondering, the cover art is drawn by me, just in case you thought I wasn't giving credit to the creator. This story might often times lean more into the comedy side of things, but stuff can still get pretty serious at times, especially in the later chapters. The story isn't super dark or anything, but character death is of course going to be a thing. Who? Well, you'll find out, eventually. Also, I'll upload chapters on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I hope you enjoy reading this little hobby of mine!
8 84A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
