The Guandao, covered in acid, burnt right through the shield horizontally, cleaving it into two and cut into the female knight’s left wrist. A scream resonated under the starry sky.
The lance lost its strength, and was easily deflected with just a forearm.
The lower chunk of the shield landed with a splat on the ground. Quite an unusual sound for a piece of metal; perhaps there was something fleshy still attached…
The flame wall went down instantly. The fire [Inhuman] rushed to the knight’s side, blasting his flames at Yuudai.
However, these flames were easily dodged, since hitting the target was probably not the main goal anyway.
“Cinder, we’re retreating for now! Argh… it hurts like hell! I didn’t factor in the girl’s ability.”
“Understood, boss. I’ll cauterize it for you…”
The [Inhuman] took his [Compatible] into his arms, before the back of his tank top bulged then burst, revealing a large pair of wings and also releasing an immense amount of fire.
Blocked by the inferno, both Shiori and Yuudai could only watch as their enemies made their escape into the night sky.
“Shiori-nee!”
“Yuu-kun! Thank god you beat her in time! The scary man was starting to become a predator!”
“Well… that's thanks to your acid I guess. My Guandao is ruined now. Well, at least I have spare...”
“Ufufu~ Yuu-kun instantly understood my meaning; clearly that’s a sign we’re made for each other.”
“Shiori-nee…”
“My, my, hearing Yuu-kun going back to calling me Shiori-nee when he’s concerned about me is nice too.”

The fire was explained off as a gas leak, and the hand of the female knight was buried in the backyard of Shiori’s house.
