《The Darkest Star》Two

The woman and the girl listen to the reading in the car. They dance to the music and have a great time.
“How old are you?” The girl asks.
“I’m eighteen. How old are you?” The woman says.
“Six.” The girl says.
Then the radio changes to someone talking in an urgent voice.
“...City near road 332, I repeat, bombers approaching Kansas City near road 332. Everyone must evacuate immediately.”
I sit in the hospital lounge, processing what Willows and Jackson told me. I should be getting to bed, but I can’t. They told me that if the bombs and explosions didn’t kill me, the shard of radioactive glass should have. And yet I sit here, feeling quite alive. Finally I get up and walk around the building, trying to find Fury. He wanted to see me anyways. I find him an hour later, in his office.
“You wanted to see me.” I say.
He turns away from his many computers.
”I didn’t know it would be this late. But ok. Sit down.” He says, and gestures to a chair. “So, Katie Wilson, was it? You look fresh, considering that you’ve been in the hospital for almost two months.” He says, looking me up and down.
I realize he’s right. I did take a shower this morning, but I haven’t touched makeup or exercised at all. Strange. Fury waits for me to answer. When I don’t, he pulls up something on a tablet.
“You’ve heard of the Avengers, right?” He asks.
I nod. ”Of course, everyone has.” I say.
“They want to meet you.” He tells me.
I stand there in shock. “What? Why do they want to meet me?” I ask, and Fury shrugs.
“I have no idea. They just said that they’d like to.” He says.

”All of them want to?” I ask suspiciously.
He shrugs again.
“I guess they just want to know how you survived.” He says, and turns to his computer. “While you’re here, I should ask you. Are you going to move back into your old city? Or will you stay here?”
“I can’t go back to my old life. It would be too much. But I don’t have a job here.” I say, and think about my possibilities.
Fury stops me short.
”I can offer you a job here. You could be very useful. You’ll start training next week Monday, 8:00 AM, Training Hall. Give this”-he gives me an envelope-“to the Head Coach there. I’ll see you around, kid.” He says, and dismisses me before I can ask what job it is.
The next day I find a sticky note on my nightstand. Strategy room, 12:00. I have over five hours until then. So I go to the gym after a quick breakfast. I want to be in good shape when my training starts tomorrow. When I get there, there’s only a few people in the massive gym. And it’s not like any gym. It has obstacle courses, shooting points, stuff like that. I think I can even see a swimming pool.
I spend around two hours lifting weights, running, and swimming. I’m surprised at how easy it is. Ok, it’s not easy, but it’s not as hard as I expected. Weird. I spend the last hours before noon at the public library across the street. I borrow a few books and head back. I realize I’m 10 minutes late, so I run to the Strategy room with my bag of books.
“Sorry I’m la- hi.” I say.
Everyone else is already here.

Friendship Overload
A capricious master of the past is saved by an unsuspecting girl. When told to pick her reward, she merely asks for his friendship. “If so, then I will be your friend. The best damn friend there ever was!” As such begins the journey of a kind hearted girl and her capricious friend. However, the more they learn about the world, the crueler it seems. Will the girl’s light lift it out of chaos, or will her friend’s hidden darkness bury it completely? What is light and what is darkness anyway? In the end, strength conquers all. (More details below↓ ) For those wanting more clear-cut details about the setting: The story revolves around the adventures of a reincarnated reckless mage with evil tendencies and his prodigious friend who’s trying to be a good person. However, the world they live in is low on resources and overpopulated with several races which hate each other’s guts, overpowered monsters that shouldn’t even exist, and paranoid humans on the verge of destruction. Basically, it’s one giant bloodbath waiting to happen. The MCs need to strengthen themselves, learn and adapt to their surroundings (which become more and more insane with each passing chapter), and eventually, hopefully, do something to stop the madness before the world’s destroyed in warfare.

A healthy mind in a healthy body
288 A.D, he was born. 297 A.D, he realised he had evil impulses. 298 A.D he heard of Anthony of Egypt, and sought to follow his example to learn how to suppress his impulses. 303 A.D, he saw his people be persecuted. 306 A.D, his world changed thrice, the persecutions ended forever, this fact and his hermit lifestyle brought him peace which came with strange abilities, and through them he joined the Hidden Side of the World, back then not yet hidden. 307 A.D, he sought for a way to cure myself, yet he stumbled across something more. A reckless ritual connected him to a well of knowledge, driving him insane and immortal, causing him to be treated as a commodity in the supernatural community, an Oracle. 2019 A.D, its been 1712 years, and the lusitanian has ended up in the other side of the world in less than wholesome hands, a place which may have answers about the mysteries of his abilities, when an unexpected event cuts the connection and his sanity and mortality return. Gaius Atiius Quadratus will not forget this kindness. The MC is based on the monk class of many rpgs, but the story isn't Litrpg. Also he will gain non monk abilities after a while. Fair warning I don't understand the rating system but I'll say M-rated just in case. This is my first story, I accept criticism but I would like the critic to explain the reasoning behind it. Also I'm still figuring how this site works and I have no schedule so updates may be sporadic, at least once a week. Not a native speaker but in the practices, too lazy to actually get the diploma, I got an average of 9.7 out of 10 at the Cambridge C1 level, the CAE, second highest european level for foreign languages, so it should be no problem. Despondent Divinity
There exists a Great Seal which split the world in two, one half ravaged by the Darkness, the other a safe haven of Light. Since the collapse of the old world, 20,000 years have passed, and the world watches on as their only protection from the Plague of Plagues slowly dissipates. Only the strong may survive the oncoming Demon horde, and the forgotten prince, Jack Calmira, fears he may not have what it takes. In a world where weakness is punished by death, what are weak men to do? Author's Note: Expect a chapter or two every month, but I'll get faster eventually. This story isn't a Wuxia, but it has a lot of eastern influence. The MC isn't OP and is flawed. Less action, more character driven. Constructive criticism would be appreciated as it's my first story. Chinese culture has inspired a lot of the novel, but much of it is an amalgamation of different cultures, some made up and some not. Think Xianxia + Shounen with a mix of western and eastern fantasy elements.

Hazard Lands (Dropped)
Pls don't read, it was my first novel and pretty crap.“This is the end…†heavenly and earth shattering voices echoed throughout the world. Bright flashes of light covered the entirety of the planet, blinding billions of people. Crimson clouds began to cover the atmosphere, painting the landscape a ghastly red. Animals howled in fear and flocks of birds rose to the sky, striving for solace. Many faces were stricken with abstract horror, while others stared up at the bloody sky with curiosity. A glimmer of surprise crossed their faces as seven beams of light stabbed into the world, much more blinding than the previous luminescence.“Begin the Apocalypse,†at this instance, the clouds caved in, showering the land with crimson liquid. Just who did the voice belong to? What were those lights? Is the world ending?Only time can time…
