《Beyond Mortality》Chapter 2- Forces of the World

Locux was in deep thought as he looked at the weapon. He had no idea how to bring out the maximum potential of the weapon. It must be understood that any weapon regardless of how primal it may seem in design requires skill and a certain degree of expertise in order to conquer their foes. The Weapon was Locux crafted seemed to resemble a spear of some kind.
“This just requires some practice,” Locux said.
He proceeded to execute series of basic actions such as slashing and stabbing.Locux, in the beginning, was slow and the attacks held no intent or force. The attacks were shallow and resembled that of a toddler attempting to walk. The slashes held lackluster momentum. The stabbing attacks were not stable and his body wasn’t able to control the force in order to maintain balance. He repeated these two actions for what seems like 2 days before a strange occurrence! He was slashing again but this time the slashes were followed by a tyrannical and overbearing force! The stabs and thrust were like dragons raging in the heavens and earth, completely shrouded with the charm and bearing of a sovereign.
“HA” Locux yelled as he performed a series of moves
ThwacK!
Locux saw deep scars on the small tree he was hitting
“I’m barely passable. The creatures that live here aren’t trees unfortunately and they will devour me if I don’t kill them with overwhelming strength”
At that moment realized that he had a strong sense of hunger and went looking at the small moat that surrounded his makeshift tent.
While Looking he discovered 3 small creatures that resembled rats with horns impaled by his traps. Locux after looking at them with disgust for a second decides to collect their dead bodies. He takes them near his tent and proceeds to dashed them with his makeshift weapon before setting up a small fire. He cuts up the creatures and stores a fee pieces of meat away in the tent while cooking the rest.

“Hmm, that was surprisingly tasty! I guess I shouldn’t judge by looks haha”
The next few days went quietly. The most dangerous occurrence happened when Locux saw a tiger the size of a small tree. This tiger was almost completely muscled just based on appearance and it had the smell of blood lingering on it. When Locux saw this Tiger his first instinct was to run! This didn’t work out too well. Despite being massive the tiger was a nimble and fast as a rodent. Locux could only extend the chase by making a series of complicated turns that slowed the Tiger because of its lack of flexibility. The Locux while running saw a path between two trees that could get him but not the two tigers. He decided to slow down when he reached path and when the tiger was about to pounce he navigated between these two trees which resulted in a comical scene of a huge tiger stuck between two trees. Locux turned back and saw the tiger was slowly releasing itself and it also had a fire burning in its eyes while it looked Locux down.
When had it ever been so humiliated before? It had to wash the shame away with the blood of the human that disgraced it. Locux knew he was not going to live because even if he escaped the tiger could potentially track him down. Knowing this Locux created distance between him and the creature and then proceeded to roll around in the dirt in order to mask his scent from the beast.
Locux thanks to his quick wit and sharp instincts survived but he had to stay away from his original location because the items within the camp carried his scent.
Locux had to set up camp once again.
While setting up camp a voice was heard
“I’ve found you! You slippery little bastard”

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.

Code Reader Kagami (LitRPG)
Sometimes things happen in this world that we are not in control of. Sometimes we are to a certain degree, and sometimes we are completely in control. However, this is a tale that constantly questions those boundaries. The story follows Kagami, a young programmer, as he winds up in a world almost alien to him. If it were up to him, he would have never visited this world and would rather stay raising his young daughter. Was it through his own actions that he had wound up here? Was it due to several combinations of factors? Or was it something he completely chose. These are questions that constantly haunt Kagami’s mind as he wanders this world and ponders his actions. Unfortunately, the glaring truth of it all refuses to ever look him in the eyes. Each night as he looks up at the night sky, he wonders if the end of this would turn out like the game he made. A tale of Guts and Glory… or would it turn out like he fears, a tale of blood and tears. Regardless of how it turns out, he will one day unveil the truth enshrouding it all. And perhaps in doing so, unveil the fate of his old world, enshrouded by mystery. ___________________________________________________________________________ While this is a typical Isekai started by the infamous truck-kun, the story is most definitely not what is to be taken at face value. I love making tragic twists into these types of stories. For Code Reader Kagami, you'll begin to see a descent into psychological madness. As your hero changes entirely from the moral man he initially was. If you're not a fan of dark aspect stories, this one is not for you. Thank you~
