《The Breath of Summer Day》The First Glance

"The First Glance"

It was a rainy night, filled with thunder

Over the meadow of the palace, the servant ran

This would be the start of her best blunder

The first room she found, she saw walls colored tan

"Who owns this room?" She let herself wonder

Up and down, she shivered, her brown locks damp and she wished she had her nan

She shrugged and muttered, "I'm alone, it's fine."

And so her clothes came off, her corset and skirt

Not noticing the fire that burned, nor the warm cup of wine

She sat on the bed, naked was she, and on her legs she scraped off the dirt

A minute later when she heard the door creak, a voice following, "Bring me a tray. Alone, I will dine."

The servant could only watch as the princess walked in; she expected to be horrified, but instead met a flirt.

"Oh, this is new. I've never had a girl as my gift."

The servant blundered and fumbled, unable to form words

"It's alright, you poor thing. The rain was pouring, I assume you were adrift?"

She nodded, unable to comprehend; is this really the princess or a daughter of the lords?

But the golden hair spoke the truth, she was in the presence of royalty; then why wasn't she in anyway miffed?

"You're an adorable little thing, I'd like to have you as my own. I'll have a warm bath run, put your clothes on the boards."
