《Thirsty for Blood》How It Started

DISCLAIMER: I will not be editing this story until I finished the whole thing first

“Santi we’re going to need a plan here I can’t take all of them down if you don’t get your shit together” Arn my faithful familiar shouted to me as if to wake me up.

Shit I’m in a bad situation over here, these Ranteral Zokun are all around me, sheesh they don’t stop coming do they? Just kill the Ranteral and we’re done in this contract like that is supposed to be easy. Let’s see here five of them coming from behind, twenty-five in front of me, ten on the left side, and another ten on the right side. I only killed 3 of them, and they’re not backing off.

These four-legged wolf-like Zokun are making my life hellish right now, right now I need to survive, I don’t want to die yet at this point in my life, that being said I still have a backup plan, I don’t like it but I just don’t want to die right now against these Ranteral. Arn is beside me trying to scare off the Ranteral to give me more time. I said to him

“Arn I’m activating it.” He looks at me then signals at me that he agrees to it.

I search that feeling somewhere deep in my soul, I always hate doing this especially in situations like these, it always craves for more, and I just wished I planned this better but mistakes are made. Then it came that feeling of hunger, sensing prey everywhere, becoming a predator bit by bit. Seeing the Ranteral already shivering in fear, it’s working, and the next thing I do is mutilate one of the Ranteral in front of me gushing blood out of its head and everything else follows.

That memory, that extermination contract I did a while back, why do I remember it right now. Who cares about that really……. but that also reminds me, that to this day, I still wonder if I can escape from my past, that past of sorrow filled with curses and deaths I didn’t understand. A familiar to remind me from time to time. I didn’t want this in the first place. Gods and goddesses can they give me mercy from this? Gotta stop thinking from now I still have a job to do.

A few bandits he said, he really did said the truth on this one unlike most contracts I’ve taken. The sun hasn’t come out yet in this dark forest and it seems that only one of them is awake standing guard.

As far as I can see with my night vision spell, I can see 6 people all inside a clearing all of them around a campfire that still has embers crackling. One of them is standing watch for the rest making sure they have a good night sleep. I guess this is simple enough for me. I took out my dagger and chant the invisibility spell.

“Oh Lontihol, god of darkness, grant me your skin, invisibility”

The moment I said the last word I could see my body fading to nothingness it’s like knowing something is there but you can’t really see it. I took a crouch and proceeded with light steps towards the guy standing watch making sure he doesn’t hear me. I take note of what I’m trying to step on to make sure I don’t make any unnecessary sound. Whoopsie almost stepped on a branch there, oof almost lost my balance near that sword.

As I’m a step away I cover his mouth and slit his throat without making any noises and dragged him to a nearby foliage to hide him. I go to the next guy sleeping and pierced his heart and on to the next. When I got to the last one this person woke up all of a sudden and stood up.

She rubbed her eyes and as she does that I put a dagger into her skull and falls. I turn off my invisibility spell to avoid exhaustion. The contract says to get the pouch of money this band of bandits has and return it. I'd better search their bodies for the pouch if I’d want to return to town before the sun goes over my head scorching me.

I search their bodies and seemingly enough I found it on the last woman I killed, she might be the leader of these bandits but who cares about that anyway. The contract said that it must have 50 silver, and truly it still has the 50 silver, they never had the chance to spend it yet. Since I still have time I try searching for any items that I can sell to the market.

After some time rummaging their corpses, I've found a few things that might have some value. First is this silver ring, I don't sense any enchantments on it but it will have a decent value to sell to the jewelers anyway. Then there's the weapons of the bandits, all of them are really of bad quality but with some smelting maybe they'll be useful for Kio.

I get my backpack in the foliage in which I hid earlier, funny thing is that this thing is actually an artifact, an enchanted item used by the early Von. Anything can fit in this backpack provided that you can carry the weight with it. It does make my life easier except for the fact that I have to carry the extra weight even if it doesn’t look heavy. Taking all the items I wanted,

I put the ring in my pocket while for the swords and the money pouch, I put it inside the bag. I lift the bag up and check if the weight won’t affect my body, and it seems that it won't affect me for the meantime. I head back to town so I could finish this contract
