《Bastion Of Heroes》Chapter 1

Swoosh! Swish!
The wooden branch swung through the air, held by the six-year-old boy, vanquishing the nonexistent enemies from his imagination. This boy had short brown hair and green eyes and yelled “Take that you monsters!” His parents had bought him to the park to blow off some excitement from just finishing a trip to the theaters. Unfortunately for them, they had not planned how much energy an excited six-year-old child has.
The said child was named Seth Colls, and he had just finished the movie Heroes of the New Age. The movie took place in a fantasy setting where the protagonist gathered friends to fend off a foreign invasion to save the world. For the adults, it was a generical fantasy film that that shared the same story as plenty of other fantasy movies. For the child on the other hand, it was as if a whole new world was introduced to him. It awoke a yearning in him, a sense of adventure in his young self.
“Sweetie! Don’t run too far!” HIs mom yelled while taking a seat on a bench.
“Got it Mom!” Seth yelled back, with his mind still focused on the imaginary monsters in front of him. He waved his “sword” and ran off further into the grassy hill area of the park. His steps took him further away right where a large tree cast it shadow over him hiding him from the view of his parents and other park visitors. Seth continue swinging the branch killing off the ‘monsters’ that would attack him.
An odd crack formed in the air trailing behind one of his swings. However, the boy was too busy attacking imaginary beings to realize anything happening. The line hovered above the boy’s line of sight for several moments, before small fissures began splintering off forming a small unsymmetrical web in the air. The crack started small, nothing but a few inches long but slowly grew to the length of about a foot after a couple of minutes. A deep hum could be heard vibrating from the crack in space, but Seth was too invested in his game to realize what was happening behind him.

An armored right hand slowly pushed its way out of the crack, with its counter left following it soon after. The two hands waved desperately in the air before finally grabbing the unseen boundaries of this crevice in the air. With herculean effort, the two hands slowly widen the gap large enough for the main body to finally fall through with a large thud.
The sound had finally caught the attention of Seth as he turned around to see what caused the noise and rudely awaken him from his game. He saw a figure sprawled on the floor wearing dark armor that could be easily mistaken as a knight from medieval times. This mysterious figure gradually crawled onto all four before finally standing up. It moved back and forth as if it was drunk before standing straight with his two legs as the armored helmet stared into the sky, completely ignoring the child behind it. All Seth could do was stare with his mouth open at this strange person completely forgetting what he was just doing minutes before.

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?

Taverns edge - A mercenary's guide to Ley Line traveling
The taverns edge is a fiction that centers around a pair of unusual friends. A mercenary that happens to be a princess of fae, but prefers to stay in a well-known établissement instead of staying in the Sidhe. Moira. Being half a dragon doesn't really help getting along with snobbish elitists at her mother's court. Like all sidhe she likes to strike a good deal... Which has led into many a disaster... Though she always tends to get by, especially when she gets home to the Tavern on the edge. The mentioned établissement is run by the formidable Barkeeper and jack of all trades Tora, who happens to have a very interesting past. Which involves more than one sinister secret... Now add to the mix a totally clueless elven girl - a mortal, not a fae- on the run. Lunara. She has unknowingly struck a deal with the devil - quite literally. Now unable to handle the consequences on her own she enters the tavern on the edge. An epicenter for magic and the only place where she might find help. She talks Moira into helping her out. A race against time begins as the deal's symbols appear on Lunara's skin. The journey leads to the dwarven empire, the sidhe and wherever the crossing leylines under the tavern may lead. This fiction belongs to the same universe as Ancient Blood. English is not my native language, so please don't be harsh. This story is an adaption of an idea, that we, a friend of mine and me, have developed over a few months while taking a break from learning. Some parts were written by Emberspark. Thank you for allowing me to work with your ideas and letting me publish this as a whole. Updates... I will try to frequently update both of my fictions... Well in case you are interested I post it on Scribble hub, too. I really don't steal from myself 😂

Sector 27
It wasn't until June 3, 2101 that World War 4 ended. This was not a war that ended in peace treaties or truces; this war ended with disease. The atomic war caused plague and disease that crippled major countries. The generals and great leaders of the countries at war died from the radiation that penetrated every part of the globe. It was only then that humanity realized what they had done- what they had created. The first ever mutant was publicly executed the very day the war ended, and a new war began: the war against mutants. The surviving nation of Japan quickly rebuilt their country by dividing it into safe zones, or Sectors. There are currently 26 livable sectors in Japan; Sector 1 is the richest sector and the only sector that has completely rid itself of all radiation left over from the war. In fear against the threat of mutants, the once small section of the police force grew until it became the main police force in Japan. After all, humans shouldn't be blamed for crimes when the real threat to society is mutants. This police force that goes by their motto: Special Treatment Against Mutants (STAM) is comprised of agents that go about their work to capture and detain all mutants. Sector 26 is the poorest sector that humans can barely survive in; but there is one more part of Japan. This "dead zone" has such a high concentration of radiation that if a human were to step inside the barrier, they would die in mere moments. But within this dead zone, this 27th Sector, there lies a secret organization of mutants that fight against STAM and protect all mutants from their grasp. The Mutant Recovery and Protection Agency (MRPA) operates to hide mutants in society and allow them to live human lives. The only thing that stands in MRPA's way is STAM and its agents who hunt them down ruthlessly, so MRPA has their own set of skilled agents. And the battle rages on...
