The light was dim, the vision distorted, his stomach was a mess, his skin white as snow. He recognized that place, he had finally escaped from the egg.
Not even the time to readjust to his vision that a black demon started starring at him, soon two more arrived. He dashed to his crossbow, suddenly remembering his shock bolts. Maybe with a bit of luck, he could kill one or two of them. The third was another problem…
They stared at each other for what felt like hours, Pxan with his crossbow and there with their claws. As soon as one of them started advancing Pxan changed position, he had only to change place with them so he could reach the exit. There was only one problem now, he was sure that one of them was behind the column, he felt his breath and saw him before. If he dared to make a wrong move he was dead. Carefully he stepped back, the demon advanced, he was put into a corner. They came even closer, now they were at a few meters of distance. He glanced back at the wall, if memory didn’t betray him some parts should have been climbable. He sat one foot on a skull, giving too much back to the monsters. In a few seconds, he was a few feet above the ground. In whose at that moment that something grabbed his hand and nearly torn it, he loosed his stability and fell hard to the ground. He instinctively shot his crossbow, the bolt pierced one of the necks and sent a mini-shock wave. He started running.
If memory didn’t betray him, at it did at this point, Ulhelms were faster than humans. He shot a few bullets blindly, only two hit the target, and of those two neither penetrated the armour.

At a corner, with the demons just behind him, he saw his freedom. A little hole through the floor, big enough for him and not for the beasts, the fall of several floors. He made it instinctively, without correctly assessing how much he was putting at risk. More than steeping into it he slipped, while a claw penetrated his back and reached for the bones.
…
The underground sewers were one of the few places where people lived in relatively decent conditions near the hell of the floors. A few scouts were sent out, never too far or too deep to recover materials and resources to trade at the black market in exchange for essential goods. The entrance to the more dangerous parts of the undergrounds was obliviously sealed off by steel doors and protected at gunpoint.

They came out of the tunnels with a little cloth stretcher and held it as it was a relic.
> asked the guard at the entrance
The men shrugged their shoulders in response.
Once inside a crowd gathered to see the new discovery. It was made of strange white metal and had a strange red clock which reminded strangely of the inquisition.
An old man stepped out of the crowd >
Not even the time to open mouth that a strange sound came out of the relic >
The man stepped back >
