《Dream Theater》Chapter 4, the illusory vision.

Pxan had become a little boy again. The voice continued to echo through his skull. It was becoming more and more intense.
> it paused and added > he felt an intense heat. Then cold. Then heat again. He heard machinery moving, he felt watched by a thousand eyes. He felt but couldn’t know if that was true or not. His eyes were lying to him, his sense failing him. He lost his sense of orientation.
All of a sudden he saw a bright light upon the horizon, the sun appeared bigger and bigger.
He remembered that sun.
The screams, the pain, the voices, the inquisitors, the occultists. All came back.
He fought with everything to get away, to hide behind a tree, to flee, to fight, to bite. But it was all useless. The arms of a plated warrior grabbed and chained him. Now he felt worse than powerless, now he felt like an inmate object, merely a vessel for something else.
In those few last moments before the axe cutted his head he wandered back to his childhood, to his long-gone childhood, to his mother and father. To his dog, to his notebooks, to his adopters, to the dragon, to his job. And most of all to his unfulfilled mission.
The occultist all lined them up, he was the third in the row. It was the little girl turn. The initial initiated, words song, magick filled the air and the little girl was lifted in the air, then fell to the ground. Dead.
> the boy next to him said “Does such a thing as a soul even exists? What consciousness even is? What will happen to me?!?" he discovered the answer to those questions a few minutes latter.
It was the turn of the breadmaker, a gentle man who had been many times kinds to him. The ritual started, word sang, he was lifted up and then trowed down. Dead.

> his mother said <> she looked at him and smiled. She mother went next. Words, up, down, dead. Another lifeless corpse to the pile, nearly understinguable from the other, another soul, another number, another body to be devoured and consume by the earth and elements.
"I could have truly lived" Pxan thought while he felt the grey wires entered his flesh and the cultists prepared for the next person.

Now in the body of a youngster, Matthew uses his inquisitive mind to reconcile with this new reality soon discovering the potential his scientific knowledge holds. Follow him on his journey to power and immortality, answering old and new questions about the nature of the universe while he strives for unrestrained freedom. Notes 1: It is my first attempt at writing anything so any constructive advice is more than welcome. if your comment will be just to insult, don't do it, you will waste time typing and I will waste time reading it and not giving a damn about it. 2: To make it worse English is not my mother language. I'm still learning and through reading and talking is not a problem for me, writing is my weak spot. Though not the only one and not the most important, this is one of the reasons I decided to start writing this novel. 3: I do not own the artwork used as a cover, I found it on google, I liked it A LOT and decided to use it. At the time I tried to contact the creator but received no answer and if he wants me to remove it I will. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy it and sorry if you don't :P.

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★

The wish trials
The God of reincarnation has brought to many idiots back to life with ridiculous wishes and the high council is sick of it messing up their worlds. So a new God was brought in. One that actually made people earn their new lives. But the actions of this unknown deity cause a boy's life to spiral out of control. After a tragic incident, the boy meets the diety where he requests to be able to fly. To accommodate this desire he allows the Boy to complete his task in the body of a random bird. There's only one problem, this bird cant fly. Follow the voices in the boy's head as he struggles to survive and grow stronger so he can get the life he always wanted. Criticism would be great. I also have heavy dyslexia along with some other metal 'uniqueness' so this whole story is a big F you to it but I am sorry for any and all inevitable mistakes.
