Chapter 19: Reformed
[Maids and Butlers]: *in unison* Please, come with us, young master and mistress!
[Baku Cree and Nicolatrice Cree]: *Confused* Uhh... Where are we going?
[Maid]: You must get out of this dress, Milady!
[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Nervous* B-but I like this dress… I've had it for years...
[Butler]: Nonsense! You must get changed immediately from these commoner clothes! They are filthy with cuts and tears! Now, if the both of you would please come with us, we have lots of work to do!
*Baku is taken to one of the palaces many large and beautiful bathrooms with marble vanities and countertops. The backsplashes were made of smooth crystals that changed color with the temperature of the steam. This single bathroom was greater the size as his old home in the fields and was unlike anything Baku has ever seen before. The young teen couldn't imagine the value and cost of the amenities that were in the royal bathroom what with the golden faucets and flawlessly shining mirrors.
*The tub was huge and circular with water jets around the sides that could make it bubble and there were multiple removeable shower heads on the ceiling that could wash you from four different directions with many settings. Baku was only used to having one, and sometimes there wouldn't be any water if the crystal used was damaged or out of power, but that was more than likely to be utterly impossible within the Royal Palace.
[Butler]: Please remove your garments, young master.
[Baku Cree]: *Embarrassed* Wh-what the hell!? What do you think your playing at you old man!?
[Butler]: You must get washed up, squire! You’re filthy from the city and the fields!
[Baku Cree]: *Embarrassed* I'm not getting undressed with you in here, you pervy dumbass!
[Butler]: *Bows* I apologize, sir. What scented soap would you like?

[Baku Cree]: I don't care, just leave already! I know how to bathe myself, damn it!
*Nicolatrice is taken to a large walk-in closet. When the lights made from gems were turned on, it revealed a room that looked like it was out of a fairy tale. Beautiful glass cases and displays were lined up like a hall of fame would proudly show off trophies. Like the many bathrooms in the palace, it was also at a size larger than her old home with the addition of a second floor. She never would have imagined being around so many dresses, shoes, jewelry, wigs, make up and other accessories. It was as if Baku's mother had walked into her own personal boutique.
*Nicolatrice was never the type of person to prioritze fashion, so she certainly felt like a fish out of water. The maids could scroll through the selection of clothing by the use of a crystallic touch screen's menu as they searched and browsed the most stylish and trendy attire the people of the Royal Center were wearing at the time.
[Maid]: No, no, no! This simply won't do! We have to undergo a total makeover with you, Milady!
[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Embarrassed* O-okay?
[Maid]: This blouse is something a farmer's wife would wear! I wouldn't dare be caught dead in these!
[Maid]: And these shoes are just atrocious! It's time to get to work, ladies!
[Maid]: I'll do her hair!
[Maid]: I call makeup!
[Maid]: Let me do her nails!
[Maid]: I'll pick to her outfit!
[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Embarrassed* O-oh dear me…
*Baku exits the shower smelling fresh of mountain spring and wearing striped colored noble tights.
[Baku Cree]: *Struggling* Geez, what the hell is with this get up, it's so damn tight…!? Can't I just have my pants back!?
[Butler]: Young Master, I trust you had an excellent shower? Was the scented shampoo fitting to your liking?

[Baku Cree]: Uhh... I guess so? ... Were you... waiting for me out here this whole time?
[Butler]: Wonderful, if you would please come with me. I must now teach you how to act proper and become enabled to be amongst the other people in the Royal Center.
[Baku Cree]: *cough* What?
(Setting: Crystal Kingdom: Royal Palace- Ballroom)
(Scene: Baku meets his mother in the Crystal Palace's Ballroom)
*Baku enters the ballroom and finds his mother training with a group of maids and butlers, it was massive and had two tall flights of stairs that go up to a second floor on each side of the room, as well as giant curtains that can be opened to get an incredible view of the Royal Center’s skyline against the starry sky. It was definitely a place for rich people to get together and party at, whatever in the world that would entail. Baku couldn't be bothered to imagine it.
[Baku Cree]: Uhh... Ma? What the heck are you doin'?
[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Struggling* O-oh, g-good evening, Baku, m-my s-son-- *Thump* Oh dear…
*A couple of book falls off Nicolatrice's head.
[Maid]: Mistress Nicolatrice, please try again from the top.
[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Smiling* Hehe, okay.
[Butler]: My young lord, when you speak to members of the royal family or anyone whom lives in the Royal Center, please be sure to use proper vocabulary such as, "Madame", or "thou".
[Baku Cree]: Uhm... How about, "no".
[Butler]: But you must learn proper etiquette, my lord!
[Baku Cree]: Screw that, I'll talk however I want. Mom, what are you up to right now?
[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Smiling* The maids are teaching me how to walk down stairs with proper posture! I can't seem to keep the books on my head, but they say it's absolutely necessary for me to do. By the way, Baku, you look so cute in your little costume!
[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* Alright mom, you're done. Also, I feel like feel like a royal doofus in this crap... However, I must say, that you look rather quite elegant in your gown, I suppose... *Sarcastically* Is that good enough for you, Mr. Butler?
[Butler]: Yes, very good, my young lord…
*The Crystal King enters the ballroom.
[King Jeremiah Cree]: Ahh, here you are. So, how has your reformation into royalty been treating you two?
[Butler and Maids]: *in unison* Your majesty! *bows*
[Baku Cree]: Oh, hey there, bud. I gotta admit, my mother and I certainly weren't expecting all of this to be the kind of things that royals do. It's kinda dumb when you think about it.
[Butler]: *Shocked* Ugh! My young lord! Why must you speak this way to the king!?
[King Jeremiah Cree]: I'll admit, it can all be a bit excessive at times, especially for a family coming from the Crystal Fields. *Smiling* But I'm confident that you two will come to terms with things very soon. But I wanted to inform you, Baku, that tomorrow after you return from the High University, you will spend the weekend training and be briefed through a number of informational teachings that will fill you in on your task and mission as the World Guardian of Planet Eternia. So I want you to mentally prepare yourself for a busy weekend. That being said, I wish you both a good night. Maids, please show them to their bedroom, and be sure that everything is fit exactly to their liking.
[Maids]: *in unison* Yes, my lord!

Of Men and Dragons, Book 2
Jack, S'haar, and all their family are back. After crashing his ship on an underdeveloped world, Jack found friends and family among the terrifying cat-lizard natives of the world, but now mere survival is no longer enough. They must carve out a new home for themselves in the landscape of the now rapidly changing world. Raiders, politics, and even nature threaten their happiness and their lives while they struggle to deal with the nightmares and traumas of yesterday. They'll need to depend on each other more than ever if they hope for their new home to have any kind of future. In case you missed it, here's book one. ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

Why survive the apocalypse when you can become the apocalypse? Nature is dying, but perhaps before the world is turned into an industrious machine nature itself can play one final trump card to save itself. Summoned to a new world, a mushroom loving mycologist needs to grow up and grow stronger in order to accomplish the goal which brought them to this new place: to save nature from the system that the sentient races have created. Stats, levels, classes and skills are all well and good, but when you’re a Child of Poverty in the slums of City Nineteen, there’s little you can do to change the world. Not unless you’re willing to think outside the box! This story contains lots of cute stuff, but also some tragedy. If you’re expecting it to be as light and carefree as Cinnamon Bun or Heart of Dorkness, you might find yourself disappointed.

A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... When young Darek flees imperial mages tasked to exterminate shape-shifters, he launches them all on a voyage to redeem their unsought destiny. But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory

Toad and Melena must face sea dragons, cave monsters, birds as large as wagons, kidnappers, and thieves. Toad’s in it to save his head – cross Owl and start digging your own grave. Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.
