《Emerald》4

I swallowed so hard, my throat squeaked a little.
Malfoy let out a quiet, little laugh.
That made my face turn even more red, than it already was.
The air in the whole room felt still, like we were frozen.
I couldn't hear anything besides the boy who was leaning over me.
I closed my eyes and turned my head away from him.
I quick looked back at him.
"I need a cigarette." I huffed nervously.
I didn't know what else to say.
"A what?" Malfoy asked as a confused look spread across his face.
I quickly ducked under his arm and ran.
"Wait!" I heard him yell from behind me. Trying to lure me back. I could hear multiple people hush him, as I ran off.
My stomach flipped in circles.
I climbed out a window and sat on the roof of one of the shorter sections of one of the buildings.
Things had taken a weird turn between Malfoy and I.
I lit a cigarette and put it to my lips as I wiped the sweat off my fore head.
My skin slowly began to cool down, as the wind hit it.
Why was Draco making me blush?
I sucked that cigarette down in less than a few minutes, happens when I'm stressed.
"What are you doing out here?" Luna asked cracking the window.
"Just sitting, enjoying the view." I gave her a smile as I secretly put the cigarette out.
"Well, sitting out there is making me worry. Would you please come in?" She asked in her soft spoken voice.
"Only for you." I replied. Which was true, Luna is such a sweet girl. I hate to have her worry. I always listen to her.
I crawled back into the castle, and dusted myself off.

The sun was beginning to set, casting golden light through the windows as we walked.
"You seem anxious." Luna stated.
"A little.... You know classes, and this stuff with Harry...and everything just seems weird over all..." I gave her a smile to try to reassure her.
"Are you worried about the ball?" She asked me.
"No, I probably won't go. I won't get asked, and besides I don't have enough money for a dress." I patted her on the shoulder as we reached the Gryffindor hall.
"Well, I hope you go. Please try not to think so much." Luna said before we went our separate ways.
Hermione was sitting on her bed, reading a book.
"Find anything?" She asked not even glancing up at me.
"No." I replied as I changed into my pajamas.
"Your owl dropped something on your pillow." Hermione stated as she closed her book.
I grabbed the paper, and sat down on my bed. I sighed as I opened it up. Hermione came over, and sat down next to be on the bed. She read over my shoulder, I didn't mind.
"Well, that's rather creepy," Hermione said, "Who's it from?"
"Don't know, doesn't say." I shrugged as I set the note in my night stand.
"Weird." She smiled and shook her head.
"What do I write back?" I asked turning to her.
"Keep it simple, since with don't know who it is." She suggested.
I signed the paper, and handed it back to the owl.
With in a few minutes, my owl returned with another sheet of paper.
I read the paper out loud to Hermione.
"What if this was mystery man's way of asking you?" Hermione whispered to me. It was dark out now, and he Gryffindor house was quiet in slumber.

"How do we know that it's a man anyway? How do we know it's not someone trying to mess around with me? Best to play it safe." I told her. The owl flew off into the darkness.
My owl, Rose, returned very quickly.
Hermione grabbed the paper from my hand, and examined the hand writing.
"I don't recognize the writing." She said before handing the small slip of paper back.
"Neither do I." I stated as I dipped my quill into the ink.
"Well that was a rather harsh response." Hermione laughed as she crawled under the covers of her own bed.
"I'm tired, and not in the mood to play messenger." I laughed as I laid down in bed. I turned the lights off and closed my eyes for the night.
...
Over the next few weeks, I didn't get anymore notes from the mystery writer.
Malfoy continued to stare at me during our classes that we had together.
I learned how to ignore it, but the feeling of being watched was still there.
At least I was able to improve my grades some.
The snow had covered the ground by now. There was a thick blanket of white the covered the ground.
"You've made it through the first two levels, one more to go." I congratulated Harry. I put my arm on his shoulder.
"Easier said, than done." Harry replied. he rubbed his face with his hands, trying to shake the anxious feeling from his skin.
"I suppose." I smiled at him. I did my best to try to comfort him, I don't think it worked very well.
Malfoy, and his side kicks approached us. I took my arm off Harry, and stood tall.
"I could smell your guy's stench from a mile away." Malfoy spat at us as he, and his friends let out their howling laughs.
"Are you sure you aren't smelling your own breath, with all that shit that comes out of your mouth?" I asked him. Malfoy's face turned red with anger.
"Its not worth it!" Harry yanked me by my arm and pulled me away.
