《Muddy Green Waters || Draco Malfoy》4 - Mudbloods

"Look, it's that bloody Creepy Creevey boy again!"
Ron pointed towards the stands as we made our way over to the quidditch pitch after breakfast to meet Harry after practice.
"Oh leave him alone, I think it's quite sweet the way he dotes on Harry." I playfully nudged Ron's arm as he rolled his eyes heavenwards.
"Let's take a seat while we wait for Harry to finish up in the changing room." Hermione motioned towards the stands as she finished up her toast.
At long last Harry and his team emerged from the changing room but they were still in their quidditch robes.
"Aren't you finished yet?" Ron called over incredulously.
"Haven't even started," Harry replied glumly. "Wood's been teaching us new moves."
They had barely got up in the air when Wood, with a look of fury, suddenly shot back down to the ground and started shouting something angrily that I couldn't decipher. I looked around wandering what was going on when I spotted them.
The Slytherin team were approaching the pitch.
"Oh great, here comes trouble." I murmured darkly, recognising the leader as Marcus Flint, a large boy with the look of a troll.
We three made our way over to the commotion where they all seemed to be staring each other down.
"Oh look," I heard Flint speak. "A pitch invasion."
"What's happening?" Ron asked, looking at Harry. "Why aren't you playing? And what's he doing here?"
I followed Ron's glare and saw he was referring to my fellow Slytherin, Draco Malfoy. Harry and Draco famously did not get on after Harry rejected Draco's offer of friendship and they had spent their first year of Hogwarts constantly taunting and hating on one another. I tried not to get involved which was easy because Draco, being a Slytherin, refused to acknowledge my existence. He was a nasty piece of work when it came to Harry Potter though. I loathed him.

"I'm the new Slytherin Seeker, Weasley," Draco responded, smugly. "Everyone's just been admiring the brooms my father's bought our team."
I noticed the whole Slytherin team were each holding identical brand new, shiny and expensive looking broomsticks.
"Good aren't they?" Draco spoke smoothly, noticing our open mouths. "But perhaps the Gryffindor team will be able to raise some gold and get new brooms, too. You could raffle off those Cleansweep Fives, I expect a museum would bid for them."
The whole Slytherin team howled with laughter and I felt my blood start to boil.
"Get bent, Malfoy!" I spat at the same time as Hermione sharply spoke, "At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in."
I noticed the smug look on Draco's face flicker as he glared at the both of us.
"No one asked your opinions, you filthy little Mudbloods," His glare landed on mine as, for the first time in his life, he spoke to me. His cold grey eyes flickered angrily into my blue ones before he broke eye contact and spat on the ground. All I saw was pure hatred in them.
There was an instant uproar. Flint dived in front of Draco as Fred and George tried to jump on him and Alicia was shrieking "How dare you!". I was suddenly aware of Ron brandishing his wand and yelling, "You'll pay for that one, Malfoy!".
I jumped as a loud bang echoed around the stadium and Ron was thrown to the ground and Hermione screamed.
Ron burped really loudly and the most disgusting thing I ever saw happened - he vomited up slugs.
The Slytherin team were in hysterics, laughing so hard they could barely breathe. I glared at Draco who was on all fours, banging the ground with his fist. I suddenly had the urge to kick him very hard.

"Oooh, can you hold him still, Harry?" I glanced up to see Colin Creevey had approached with his camera. I must admit to trying to stifle a giggle at this point as Harry batted him away.
We managed to get Ron over to Hagrid's hut, a place we visited a lot last year. Hagrid was always very kind and welcoming and did not judge me for being a Slytherin. We knew he could help Ron.
Hagrid plonked a large copper basin in front of him. "Better out than in. Get 'em all up, Ron."
"He tried to curse Malfoy with his broken wand." I explained. Ron had broken his wand before he had even arrived at Hogwarts this year after yet another adventure with Harry. Life was not boring with Harry Potter that was for sure.
"What did he do this time?" Hagrid sighed as he offered them a plate of treacle fudge. I declined, preferring my teeth to stay intact.
"Malfoy called Rosie and Hermione something. It must've been really bad, because everyone went mad." Harry explained.
"It was bad," Ron spoke hoarsely from the basin. "Malfoy called them 'Mudbloods', Hagrid."
"He didn'!" Hagrid gave outraged look towards me and Hermione.
"He did," Hermione spoke. "But I don't know what it means. I could tell it was really rude, of course..."
"I heard him refer to that word on my first night at the Slytherin table," I flushed angrily, remembering that humiliating evening and the way Draco had looked at me with such hatred as he spat out that word. "But I didn't know what it meant. I expect it's bad if it's coming out of Malfoy's mouth."
"It's about the most insulting thing he could think of," Ron gasped, coming up for air. "Mudblood's a really foul name for someone who was muggle-born. There are some wizards who think they're better than everyone else because they are 'pure-blood."
I understood. "Especially Draco Malfoy."
