You woke with the sun in your eyes. You moved a little into darkness and sighed. You felt two fingers gently tap your sides, you nuzzled further into Turpin.
"Wake up dear" he murmured.
"five more minutes?" you asked hazily.
Turpin kissed your head and smiled. "No dear" he murmured. "I am taking you to the racing today"
"What kind?" you ask.
"Horses"
You yawned and sighed. Turpin shook his head and got up from the bed, taking the blanket off your body to reveal your naked form. "William" you moaned. Turpin smirked and ran his fingernails across your body and kissed your cheek. "Come on dear" he muttered. He got up and got dressed into a smarter outfit than he usually wore. You slowly got out of bed and stood up, going toward your dresses.
You got dressed and did your hair while Turpin disappeared from the room. You left the room and went downstairs to see Turpin flicking through a book. He looked up and smirked at you, placing the book back into the bookcase he took your arm and pulled you to the carriage "Have you ever been to the horse racing?" he asked.
"I haven't" you said with a smile.
"I am sure you will enjoy it" he said with a smirk. "It is the Epsom Derby so you may see royalty" he took your hand in his and kissed it.
"I am guessing you have been to the Derby many times" you said, leaning into him.
"I have" he said with a smile. "However I have never gone with a woman is beautiful as you. You will be the envy of both sexes"
"Will I?" you asked.
"Oh yes" he murmured. "That's why I need to keep you close to me" A possessive glint formed in his eye and he put his arm around you, pulling you closer into his side.
You leaned on his until the carriage stopped and Turpin took your arm and took you out. The road was very busy, filled with tons of people. Turpin pulled you closer to him and his height allowed him to successfully navigate to the entrance. He slipped some money through and took you into the course. You grinned, there where horses and people milling around, it reminded you when you had your horse and used to ride it every day.

He pulled you into a little building adjacent to the track. There were tons of people who in rich outfits milling around holding glasses of wine. Turpin kept you close as you settled next to the bar area. Looking around you saw no one you recognised and Turpin was right, women gave you looks of jealousy as you stood with Turpin, your dress and smile drawing eyes. You looked at these people, not really taking them in until you saw your sister, Anne whos arm was around a taller man with dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes. You grinned and waved at her, Anne grinned also. Anne was the only one of your sisters who actually liked you and missed you when you ran away. Anne pulled the man on her arm toward you and Turpin raised his eyebrows and frowned as the two came closer to you and him.
"Anne!" you said grinning.
"(y/n) it is so good to see you!" Anne exclaimed, giving you a hug.
"It is, how are you? you asked, "and who is this?"
"I have been amazing (y/n)" she said. "And this is my fiancée, Charles"
You smiled up at Charles who smiled down at you and then looked at Turpin. He held a facial expression of interest as he watched you with Anne.
"So how have you been?" Anne asked.
"I have been good" you said smiling. Turpin put his hand on your shoulder and you looked up at him. "Yeah, Turpin and I have been wonderful."
"I am so glad" she said with a smile.
"When are you getting married?" you asked, looking back up at Charles.
"In around a month" she said. She suddenly frowned. "Father is controlling the invites"
"Oh" you mumbled. "I wish you good luck"
"Thank you" Anne said.
"Is father here?" you suddenly asked.
"He was, but he has a stomach bug" she said. "So he could not come"
You smiled sadly and felt Turpin's fingers move from your shoulder to the small of your back he stroked it gently as a way to comfort you because you knew you were upset. He wished to wrap you in bed and stroke your hair until you fell asleep however he could not do it here.
"You should come to tea" you said, looking up at Turpin.

"Yes we would be delighted" he said, carrying on stroking your back.
"Then we would love to take up your offer" Anne said, looking up at Charles. Charles grinned and nodded at this proposal.
"Oh, I think it is starting" you mumbled, people had started to walk towards the entrance again. Turpin meanwhile took your arm and ushered Charles and Anne upstairs were a few others went. "Are you feeling okay little one?" he asked quietly in your ear.
"Yeah, just a little sad" you mumbled back. Turpin nodded and kissed your cheek. Turpin, you and the other two went up to the balcony where you had a good view of the track. You sat down one of the seats with Turpin's hand on your lap.
You watched as the horses lined up and Turpin smiled at you. You looked like the way you looked on the first date to the opera, you rested your hands on the side of the long balcony which straddled the building.
After a short while, the horses were off. You watched in awe as the horses galloped at lightning speed across the flat. They did a lap of the course and came thundering passed again, the grass being ripped up by the hoves. "Look at them go" Anne said in awe.
They did a few more laps, then there was an accident, two horses ran into each other, causing the jockeys to be thrown off the back and the horses to fall on the ground. "Oh no" you murmured.
The race carried on as the jockeys managed to get the horses up, you were so glad that they were not hurt as the two jockeys took their horses off the track.
"I put bets" Turpin said.
"On who?" Charles asked.
"Assasin" he said, leaning back.
"I'm not sure, I put mine on Sweet Robin" Charles said.
"How much?" Turpin asked.
"Only four pounds" Charles said.
"I put fifty on Assassin" Turpin said absentmindedly
"You must be confident with Assassin" Charles said, slightly staring at Turpin.
"I am" Turpin murmured, watching the horses, his fingers tapping on your lap. Soon it got to the final lap and the horses where at neck and neck. Turpin began to clench and unclench his fist in worry. You took his hand and held it. Turpin smiled and gently squeezed it and suddenly grinned in happiness and Assassin raced as first into the finish line.
"Well played" Charles said.
"I am always right in racing" he said chuckling. "I call it a gift"
"How much profit will you have?" you asked.
"I hope 170 pounds returns" he said "Seeing as he was not the favourite."
You grinned and Turpin squeezed your hand. He seemed joyful and glowing, unlike his usual self and he grinned with pride. Although he had a win, Turpin decided not to bet on the other races, just watching with you, his hand in your lap and sometimes stroking the insides of your thigh.
You enjoyed watching the horses race, you where glad there was no other crashes between horses and the rest of the races went smoothly. Soon it was over. You had spent six hours of happiness and relaxation with Turpin and had also spent time with your beloved sister. Turpin collected his winnings which was actually 185 pounds and he seemed very chuffed as he tucked them into his pocket and walked with you back to the carriage.
"Thank you William" you said as you both got into the carrige.
"For what little one?" he asked, his hands fiddling with yours.
"For taking me to the Derby." you said with a smile. "such a surprise to see Anne. I wish to go to the wedding but I know I wouldn't be invited" you frowned.
Turpin pulled you onto his lap and kissed your head while you laid your head against his chest. He rubbed your back with the flat of his hand and rocked you gently. "I will take you home" he whispered. "And when we are home I will get you some dinner then you can sleep your sadness off"
"I am not that sad" you mumbled. "Just frustrated"
"oh dear" he said. "Look, I will see if you can be invited"
"How?" you asked, resting further into Turpin and his chest
"I have my ways little one" he said smirking. "Like I know what horse to bet on"
"I trust you" you mumbled after a short silence.
"I am glad" he said, stroking a piece of your hair out of your face. "If you trust me you will be safe" You nodded and snuggled into him. The carriage fell into a nice silence, with William stroking you while you slowly fell asleep against him.
