Sydney approached Noelani at her locker after school, Jasmine in tow.

"What's wrong?" Noelani raised an eyebrow as she shut her locker, "Is it urgent? 'Cause my dad is leaving in ten minutes with or without me."

Sydney grabbed her hand and yanked her along, "I need moral support."

"In other words, Jordan fucked up." Jasmine interjects as Sydney made them exit the building.

"Syd, where are we going? Who's driving me home?" Noelani grunted.

"To see Jordan, duh." Sydney responded as she opened the doors to the warehouse that held the Prolific Prep gym behind the school, and Jasmine and Noelani gave each other a wary glance then stepped through.

Some of the boys who were running drills turned to face the girls.

Noelani and Jasmine followed Sydney into the boys locker room.

"What the-?" Jackson Corley, a boy on the team jumped up off the bench below the locker when he saw the trio.

"Relax. We're not looking for you. Where's Jordan?" Sydney sneered.

"Back there." Jackson pointed to the back of the locker room.

Sydney stormed down the room, an irritated look on her face.

"Oh, lord. Come on." Jasmine sighed as she flicked her long wavy brown hair over her shoulder.

"What is going on?" Noelani asked as they followed Sydney to the very back of the locker room.

At the very last set of lockers was Jalen, Jordan, Nimari, Coleman and a few others on the basketball team.

"Uh, what are y'all doing here?" Nimari asked, as he pulled a t-shirt over his head.

"I don't know." Noelani admitted, her eyes flicking over to Jalen who was motioning her to come closer with a single finger.

Once she was close enough, Jalen wrapped both arms around her waist to embrace her, still sitting on the bench by the lockers.

Noelani places her hand around the back of his neck and Jalen rested his head on her abdomen.

Out of the corner of her eye, Noelani could see Nimari glance at Jalen and her then looked to Coleman.

Coleman was watching the couple with a worried look, turning his head when he realized that Noelani had caught him.

Noelani licked her bottom lip, a little troubled at their facial expressions.

She didn't want to lose her friendships over getting closer to Jalen.

"Why weren't you answering your phone last night?" Sydney asked with a tilt of the head.

"I was at practice." Jordan replied in a monotone voice.

"No, you weren't. I know the times you're at practice or the gym." Sydney snapped.

"Come on, Syd. Don't do this right now." Jordan groaned.

"No, we are gonna do this right now actually." Sydney responded.

Noelani pushes a thick strand back into her bun, feeling a little awkward at the tenseness between the couple.

Jordan sighed and let an eye roll loose, "You're acting crazy as hell right now, Syd."

"Crazy? You got me fucked up. It's over!" Sydney huffed and stormed out of the locker room.

As soon as the door to the locker room had slammed shut, Jalen, Jack, Saba and Coleman started snickering.

"What the fuck just happened?," Noelani pointed to her friend as the door slammed shut, "Uh, did y'all just break up?"

"Yeah." Jasmine, Jordan, Jalen, Saba, Jack, Nimari and Coleman echoed.

"You're not worried? At all?" Noelani raised an eyebrow.

"Nah. By this time Sunday we're gonna be back together so..." Jordan shrugged as he fluffed his hair.

"That's not toxic at all." Noelani started to walk away but Jalen tightened his grip on her midsection with a laugh at her words.

"Hold up." Jalen stood up and opened his locker to grab an extra basketball jersey.

He unrolled it, revealing his last name and the number four on the back of the jersey.

"You wearing my jersey to the next game right?" Jalen lightly pressed the jersey into her hands as he stepped close to tower over her, his tone low so that his friends wouldn't hear.

"That depends." Noelani responded.

"On what?" Jalen smirked.

"On if I'm the only one who's gonna have one in the crowd."

"You know you're my one and only."

Noelani grinned, grasping the jersey, "Yeah. I'll wear it."

The door opened and Coach Joey stepped into the locker room, immediately pausing at the sight of Noelani and Jasmine.

"Uh, this is a closed practice ladies. You can see the guys after." Joey held the door open for them and swept his arm in front of it, "Say bye to the girls, guys!"

Jasmine and Noelani giggled as the boys jokingly waved and yelled the word goodbye to them.

"Coleman is cute," Jasmine voices, "He's single right?"

Noelani eyes her friend curiously, "Uh, I think so."

"Can you be my wingman? Since y'all are so close?"

"Of course. I got you."

"Noel, what is wrong with you?" Nimari asked as he paced back and forth in her bedroom.

Noelani sat in the wicker chair that hung from the ceiling, Coleman was laying on her bed while they watched him rant.

"I thought you didn't like him. What changed?"

"He did. I mean, I guess I did too. I just..." Noelani broke into a smile and hid her face behind her hands.

"Ugh, God!" Nimari groaned.

"What's so wrong with him anyway? Do y'all not like him or something?" Noelani glances at Nimari then Coleman.

Nimari opened his mouth but Coleman shook his head adamantly.

"He's just not good in relation-."

"In relationships, yeah. Y'all keep saying that but won't give any examples." Noelani slaps her thigh lightly.

"He's just a player, Noel. You deserve better than him." Coleman interjected.

"To tell y'all the truth... I don't think I'm gonna find better for me around here," Noelani let her smile spread wider into a grin, "I know you guys don't see it but when we're alone he is the sweetest person. He's so genuine, and humble and trustworthy and-."

"And I'm gonna throw up." Nimari rolled his eyes as he flopped on the bed next to Coleman.

There was a scratching at the door, signaling that one of her dogs wanted to be let in.

Noelani kisses her teeth before standing up, "Hater."

Noelani opened the door and Cinnamon padded her way in.

"Aight, when you get hurt don't say nothing to us." Coleman sighs.

Noelani stops then turns to look at Coleman, "What do you think of Jasmine?"

Coleman furrowed his brows, "Jasmine? She's bad. Why?"

"She thinks you're cute." Noelani sat back in the chair.

"Turn me up, Cole." Nimari smiles.

Noelani's phone vibrates in her pocket with a call.

JGFoe❤️ would like to FaceTime...

"Let's go. She's too far gone." Coleman slipped his shoes on.

Nimari gave Noelani a glance before leaving as well.

Noelani sighed but answered the call with a slightly forced smile, "Hey, kid."
