《The Secret Life of My Husband, The Professor ✔️》30| Dinner With The EX

After three hours and my feet nearly dislocating from the rest of my body, I finished cooking dinner with some help from Dilara. Ahmad came in, "Wahaj," He addressed me.
"My mother invited someone for dinner,"
"Who?"
"Eman."
"And who was that ?"
"The girl my mother wanted Ibrahim to marry,"
My mother in law was Shaytan. She was Satan tailored to ruin my life. Do you know those moments in your life where you see a situation playing out in your head like a movie with a soundtrack and all?
This was one of those moments. I could hear the lyrics to a particular song running through my head. The thumping of the base matched my footsteps and pushed me into a room.
I eyed the large room to find the Professor sitting in one of the oversized leather chairs laughing along with Eman, who was sitting on the ottoman in front of him with her perfectly manicured hand resting on his knee. You've got to be freaking kidding me.
"Wahaj, how nice to see you again."
She hugged me, I patted her back a little harder than necessary, but smiled and batted my eyelashes at her as she straightened up.
"Excuse us," I said before grabbing the Professor and going toward the kitchen.
"What the hell is your mother thinking?"
He shook his head while bringing his hand up to cup my face. I oddly felt more relaxed. I closed my eyes and leaned my head into his hand while taking deep breaths.
"Wahaj, you know how she is. Just ignore her."
"Professor, she hates me. I can't just ignore that."
"She doesn't hate you. She is just..."
I nodded my head at his loss of words.
"Exactly! She is out of her ever-loving mind inviting the girl she was eyeing for you in my first night in the house with you!"

He laughed and ran his thumb slowly over my cheek.
"You are my wife. Inshallah, You are the mother of my child. And there is no need for you to be worried or jealous of any girl, especially Im-a-a-r."
He purposely distorted her name for my comfort. As it just hit me? Was I jealous.. he thinks I am jealous, oh god, how pathetic does he think I am.
Even though I may be pathetic, I shouldn't show him.
I smiled at him before his mother came into view as she cleared her throat. We made it to the dining room.
I kept telling myself that if I could just keep my mouth shut for the next hour and a half that I would be golden. I would smile and nod politely when anyone said something. My plan worked for about twenty seconds.
"Wow, this is amazing," Ahmad commented on the food.
"I don't know it seemed a little bit salty for my taste," Nermin stated with disgust look in her face, and Eman nodded in agreement, "The seasoning is off." , "What do you think, Ibrahim ?" She said.
"The food is good, and Wahaj spent all afternoon cooking it, so it is great."
Just like always, the Professor had the perfect answer. I smiled at him shyly.
As we ate, The Professor and his brother murmured at one end of the table while Nermin and Eman were doing everything in their power to make my life a living hell. I shovelled food into my mouth as they talked about the good ole days when they were neighbours and how the Professor had a crush on Eman.
I kept refilling my mouth with food so I wouldn't be able to talk. What I got from their conversation was that Eman was two years older than the Professor, and he was in high school with her.

Eman travelled to London with her mother, and just eight months ago, she came back after her mother's death. "And Khalti Nermin, remember when you and Mama forced us to go to prom together ?"
I held onto the side of my chair while their obnoxious giggles continued.
"I remember catching someone in the backseat of the car by the end of it. I knew you weren't looking for your glasses. I wasn't born yesterday."
I heard Ahmad coughing as he choked on his food. I listened to the Professor's fork drop onto his plate and the bounce off and land on the floor. I continued smiling as Nermin gasped and held her hand over her mouth, while Eman just stared at me.
I felt like everything I ate for the last twenty minutes was coming back to haunt me and just like that, I stood up from where I stand as I was about to go toward the bathroom.
My mother in law who was sitting way in the front and she stood up, "Go back to your seat, when we are finished you may be excused," She murmured with a smile.
Eman stood up behind my mother in law. "I should leave," She said.
I sighed.
"No Eman stay," Nermin said as I threw my napkin on the table. Eman looked toward the Professor waiting for his reaction.
"Continue your dinner," He said stiffly as he grabbed for my hand, but I pulled it out of his grasp.
"You seemed to be more welcomed in this house than I am. I'll find my way home. No need for you to leave and ruin your evening with my husband."
"Wahaj stop." The Professor advised.
The Professor stood and grabbed my arm, making me topple backwards and drop the juices which covered Eman in a deep liquid. She gasped and flew back from the table.
I started to mask my laugh as Nermin blotted Eman's shirt with her napkin, but as I opened my mouth, I stopped. My throat suddenly felt numb again, and my mouth began to water weirdly. I knew that feeling and knew I had maybe three seconds to get out of this room before I made a huge mess.
The Professor's hands were still clamped around my arms, and as I tried to pull away from him, Nermin stepped between Eman and me. I tried to swallow back what was coming, but it didn't help.
"Professor..."
I moaned and then lurched forward, I pucked all over my mother in law's custom hardwood floors, my mother in law dress as I kept heaving I felt the Professor behind me with his arm around my waist, while his other hand tried to move me to the bathroom. I heard Nermin screaming. She tried to climb over Eman to get away from my projectile vomit, and I couldn't help but feel a little satisfied.
