《The Secret Life of My Husband, The Professor ✔️》06| This is where I leave you

It has been a week since I have lost the guardianship of the kids, and their mother got them. "Are you feeling alright, Wahaj ?" Elian asked. It was not rare for him to openly show concern for people, but I knew that he knows what I was thinking at this moment. I was his soon-to-be-wife. On Wednesday, we got engaged. On Friday, he wanted to get married.

But I didn't...

I couldn't stop thinking of the five devils, I knew the feeling of growing up without a parent all to well that I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Knowing their mother, it was similar to not having any since all she does was drink or be drugged.

"Yes, I am" I lied.

"Are you sure ?" He asked again.

I nodded, "I am fine, I just gotta go to my lecture," I said before grabbing my coffee from the table we were sitting in.

"Okay. Come on, I'll walk you to your lecture." We both get up, pay and leave the coffee shop that was owned by my aunt.

We always went to places where we were chaperoned, but now that we were alone and no one was with us, I didn't know what to say.

"So... Friday right?"

"No," I reply. "I... al... already said it..."

"Right yeah. Sorry... it's just you know a conversation starter." He laughs nervously, and I laugh too.

"It's okay."

"So," He clears his throat. "Do you need extra time? Like to get to know me?"

"Umm... I don't know to be honest." Ya Allah, kill the awkward tension, please!

We reached the lecture room quickly, Alhamdulillah, I gave him a small smile and then sow my friend, Mariam and gave her a quick hug. I enter the lecture room with Mariam and Elian goes away.

"Morning Wahaj," Mariam mumbled and tucked a loose, stray strand of her long, brunette hair behind her ear. "Did you study for the exam on Friday."

"No, How could I ?." Mariam opened her own notebook and leaned closer to me. "I can lend you mine if you want ?"

"I dunno, I think I should do my own to at least understand" I replied.

"Or you could just ask Professor Yilmaz, you and he seem to be okay ?" She glanced in my direction.

"He is Malisa's brother," I said, "We are totally not okay."

Mariam's eyes widen, and she stares at me for at least a minute. "How is that possible?" she asks slowly. "Did not you know."

"How could I ?" I whisper.

"Holy shit!" she shrieks. "Are you saying that Professor. Yilmaz has added you to the blacklist?"

"I hadn't spoken to him since he came into my house and took Emir," I answered. "He sent an email, but I didn't even read it,"

I roll my eyes. "Well, If Professor. Yilmaz wanna add me to his blacklist... let him. I already added his whole family to mine."

"But he is soo handsome," she sighs dreamily.

"Astaghfirullah," I said after laughing at her comment.

I looked away from Mariam and up at the stage. My eyebrows raised when I finally noticed Professor. Yilmaz standing beside the podium.

"Alright, it's 9:00, which means it's time to get started." Dr.Yilmaz clasped his hands together and sauntered over to the podium.

Mariam and I closed our mouths instantaneously and faced forward, I with her hands on my binder, Mariam with her eyes still locked on the attractive Professor.

The whole lecture room listened intently. "Before we begin with our lecture this morning, I'd like you all to know that the grade of the paper that was submitted last week can be viewed online,"

******

"Wahaj, what did you get ?" Mariam asked as we left the lecture room.

"I don't know yet. I didn't check it. Gimme a minute." I forgot to submit my re-written paper, so I was sure he would fail me.

"Lemme know once you get there."

"Oh yeah Wye," Mariam looked at my direction as we continued walking. "I've meant to ask you. What is going on with you and that janitor? Elian?" My shoulders slouched. I lazily nodded my head and continued to check my grade in the website, feigning disinterest. "Aisha's mom told her that you were getting married to him, but I didn't believe her, so I wanted to ask you, is he?"

I sighed. "He is."

Mariam gasped and dropped her books onto the floor, a broad, honest smile on her face. "WHAT?!" She gasped.

"He's your fiancee?! When were you gonna tell me?!"

I blushed. I really didn't want to tell anyone about it, mostly because I knew Mariam would tease me over it. It wasn't a big deal. She has already been married once, so it wasn't something to be wowed over.

Elian Aziz, He was the janitor in the college, my grandmother set me up with him after she knew he worked in my university. He was kind and treated me like I was his one and only. I didn't care that he was the janitor and agreed to meet with him after my Idhaa was done.

"You were bond to found out," I said. "I told you we talked and he came over after my Idhaa and then again this Wednesday," I admitted to Mariam. "Mama Ghada told me to not say anything since some people may judge since my husband died just six months ago."

She nodded, "Yeah, Aisha's mom kept talking about you with my mom and the neighbours for like three hours; you were the talk of the family gathering." She admitted.

"Ya Allah, people really don't have anything to do," I whispered, but didn't let Mariam hear it.

"We all knew that dude's been in love with you since like we were seven," Mariam mumbled. "I was surprised when you married someone that isn't him," She confessed.

"You think I don't know that?" I rolled my eyes. "He found a job as a janitor in my college, agreed to marry someone who was already married before, and agreed to marry someone who has a degree hire than his."

"You hit the jackpot, sis." Mariam grinned.

As we were walking beside the parking lot, I noticed that the website finally loaded. "I got my grade," I interpreted.

"What is it ?" Mariam asked.

"I got a 79," I shockingly answered. 79 in professor Yilmaz class could be a 100, so it was a perfect grade.

HOW?

"WOOOW!!" Mariam said, "See, and you were afraid of failing, I told you, you are a genius."

"I don't understand," I said as I looked again at the website.

"I needed to talk to him," I said and as I was about to leave Mariam, a Lamborghini Veneno stopped in front of me interrupting my way.

"Get in, Miss. Muhammad" his voice trailed off. The window of the car slid as I sow his face, Professor. Yilmaz.

Without even thinking if this was the right or the wrong thing to do, I got in quickly as demanded. The car began to move fast.

"Layan called, Mellisa overdosed, and I want you to be there for the kids," His emotionless eyes and tone seemed to indicate that his words were just a joke.

I laughed, uncontrollably without thinking for a second that he was serious. "Oh ya, is that after or before Melissa got what she wanted and had the kids and illuminated my guardianship over false information given to the judge,"

The car began to rise in speed as I quickly said in fear, "Slow down, you maniac." I glanced toward the Car Dashboard to see that it hit 210 KM, the cars kept honking at him as he leaves one line and joins the other. Ya Allah, please save me, I kept reciting surah Kursi as I glimpsed at his face, which was full of rage.

After that, all I could hear was the screeching of tires on asphalt, the crunching of metal, and the crushing of bones as our car flew sideways. If Professor Yilmaz ever showed any other emotion other than anger, it would be fear as my head whipped forehead and slammed into the glass wheel. "ASH-HADU ALLA ILAHA ILLALLAH, WA ASH-HADU ANNA MUHAMMAD RASULULLAH," We both said as it only took seconds for my eyes to close and the world around me to fade away with his voice echoing in my ears.
