There is a very big different reads and readers. Reads are numbers, a reader is a person. When writing on Wattpad the thing you should be looking for is READERS. Why? I'll tell you why.

1) These are the people that actually want to read your book, they actively take time out of their lives to read something you've written. Wow. Isn't that amazing? Sometimes writers can forget how absolutely incredible it is that someone has chosen to read their book out of the thousands that are on this site.

2) They will comment. They will vote. They will fall in love with your characters. And they are loyal af. I know as a writer that a comment means a lot more to me than a read. Sometimes you need to put your read count aside and look at the people reading your work.

3) They tell their other Wattpad friends about your book. They tell their followers. They are practically your advertising team. You and them= dream team.

4) A proper reader won't just stop reading your book after the first chapter, they are the ones that may beg you for updates and hound you for a sequel but its because they care.

Instead of watching that read count like a hawk, look at your readers. Reply to their comments, appreciate them. What I've learnt from 7 books on this site (on my other accounts) is that the most rewarding part of writing on Wattpad is talking to people who love your work.
