《Walking With Jesus A Daily Devotional》Day Nine

Day Nine.
Verses: "'Jesus answered them, "Do you finally believe? In fact, you're about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I'm not abandoned. The Father is with me. I've told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I've conquered the world." John 16:31-33
The other day I watched church and my church is doing a series about: "God never said that." It was about how God never said: "everything happens for a reason."
The verse above is when Jesus is telling His disciples that He is going to die on the cross. His disciples were confused and had many questions. Just like how we have questions when we go through pain and suffering. But sometimes, we don't always get an answer on why we are going through suffering and pain.
Here are some answers to question: "why do we go through pain and suffering?"
1. Suffering can come from our actions.
If you go take your paycheck and spend it all. Then wonder why you are broke, it's because you spent your money. Sometimes we can make things worse for ourselves.
2. Because we live in a fallen world.
This world is not heaven. This world is not our home. In this world there is: chronic illness, mental illness, death, cancer, sickness, and so much more. Sometimes the answer to why you are suffering is because you live on Earth and on Earth there is illness and sickness.
3. Some suffering God allows it to happen.
God never gave us the pain and suffering but sometimes God lets us go through pain and suffering because He has a purpose for our pain. God can bring goodness out of pain and suffering.

When I was thirteen and just got diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I didn't understand why I got depression and anxiety and I still don't know why I have been through mental illnesses and now chronic illnesses. But despite all the pain and suffering I went through and am still going through: I wrote a book and now I am starting a ministry. God is using my pain for me to lead others to Christ. That's why I wrote my book: "Jesus Saves Daily Devotions" which the book is now being published. That's why I am started my ministry: "Jesus Saves Ministry."
The storm you are going through wasn't meant to destroy you, but to bring you closer to Christ.
Here are some good thing that can come from pain and suffering:
1. It will give you perspective.
Before getting diagnosed with mental illnesses and chronic illnesses I was shallow, selfish, and couldn't write very well. Now I am a soon to be published author and I am running my own ministry. It has changed my outlook on life it gave me the perspective I needed.
2. It shapes you into the person God created you to be.
You may be going through pain and suffering but God is using that pain and suffering to change your heart. Instead of focusing on what is happening to you, focus what is happening in you.
3. It point us to God.
Pain and suffering shows us that we need God. That we can't do life without God. Pain and suffering leads us to Christ. We need to surrender everything to God.
4. It gives us our ministry.
We don't have to have all the answers but pain and suffering can give us our ministry. I wouldn't be doing: "Jesus Saves Ministry" if I haven't gone through everything I have. God made a way for me to start this ministry. God can use your story for His kingdom. God is using my story His kingdom.

Prayer:
Dear God,
I pray that as I go through pain and suffering that it gives me perspective, shapes me into the person you created me to be, that I grow closer to you, and that pain and suffering gives me my ministry. I pray you grab my hand and help me because closer to you everyday.
I thank you for all my many blessings and for Your Son.
In Jesus's name, I pray, Amen!

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Briars and Thorns
Millenia ago, humanity faced a catastrophe. Some devastating, catastrophic event that even to this day leaves its impact on humankind and the Earth. That’s not where our story takes place though, instead we look to space, where humans have taken up residence among the stars. Living in huge industrial space stations, life is a bore. Dull daily routines are broken only by extravagant fashion, music, and other means of self expression. Also, of course, the lifeblood of the stations- games. Four months ago, humanity was contacted by the first ever known alien life forms. These aliens, calling themselves the Erta offered their designs and schematics for their True Virtual Reality (TVR) console, as well as access to their game in exchange for peace. And humanity, excited at the opportunity to achieve one of their life long dreams (that is, to experience True VR), graciously took them up on their offer. Now, after scientists have finally confirmed the console to be safe for humans, the game is to finally be released to the public. This comes to the joy of most of the population, but a small portion of them can't help but be upset. As thousands of the researchers meant to be developing virtual reality, are fired overnight. Meet Brian Reed, one of these newly unemployed workers. Now, join Brian as he explores the very game that was the death of his job. And watch as he learns that the game is not quite what it seems.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

Meaning: The End of the Starless Century
Magic was once a reality of everyday life, shaping the lives of the gifted and ungifted alike since the dawn of humanity. That all changed in the fires of World War I. As time passed, the awesome power of magic was forgotten by the world outside. This held true for a little over a century, but things begin to change when three individuals intersect in the peaceful town of Ithaca, New York. Noelle Sellers, a newly minted policewoman searching for her place in the world. Levi Wright, a mage living in Ithaca who is far more than he lets on. Lorelei Himmel, a juvenile witch in hiding out of fear of what people would do to her, and what she may do to them. As forces slithering in the darkness emerge from the murky depths of the world, the timeless battle for magic and for the future itself begins once again.
