Zenaida is the result of a short term relationship between John Gilbert and Prince of Asgard, Loki (Whilst in female form). Zenaida was born in Mystic Falls, Virginia. Loki instantly adored their daughter but her birth led to Loki finding out the truth behind their own birth. (Frigga enchanted Loki's mind to remove the realisation from them, covering Zanaida's appearance with something more 'normal' in their mind and enchanting a bracelet to hide Zenaida's true appearance from the world until she was old enough to control it herself)

Odin would not allow Loki to keep Zenaida on Asgard so Loki reluctantly had to leave Zenaida with her father but John was a teenager and had no interest in raising a child. Whilst Helen and Geoffry Gilbert intended on forcing John to take responsibility for his daughter, John's half-brother Charlie offered to take the girl in, having recently lost his own daughter Bella after her mother moved away with her.

Charlie raised Zenaida as if she were his own daughter, a fact she never questioned until her early-teen years when her magic started to appear and she started to connective dream with Loki.

On her 14th birthday (2004), she was visited by Frigga who had managed to talk Odin into letting her come back to Asgard, now that she was old enough to access her magic. Zenaida was partially informed by Frigga of her birth and family. Even talking with Charlie about her biological mother and that it wasn't through choice that Zenaida was sent to live with John. Charlie was reluctant but eventually agreed to allow Zenaida contact with her mother via Frigga.

Whilst starting with a few trips to re-bond with Loki, Zenaida eventually moved to Asgard full time, though visiting Charlie as often as she could. Having been told the truth of her parentage, Zenaida asked Loki who her real father was, but Loki responded that it didn't matter, that he was worthless and Charlie was all the father that she needed, implying that Loki was not okay with the way that John tossed their daughter aside, but seemed pleased with the work that Charlie had done.

Over the next couple of years, Frigga took to teaching Zenaide about magic and how to control her shapeshifting abilities. But Loki wasn't the person she imagined they'd be, when not with Frigga, Zenaida was often left alone in an unfamiliar place which left her increasingly lonely, not to mention that she wasn't able to wear her natural skin made her feel out of place and unwelcome. Loki admitted to Frigga that they didn't know how to do it and they felt like they were screwing it up.

- When Zenaida gets a call from Charlie that Bella has been in a car accident, she realises how much she misses home and Charlie and how out of his depth he sounds, how worried about Bella he is. She decides that it is time to go home.

Zenaida is a strong, intuitive, good-hearted, fun-loving, and passionate young woman.

She has the capacity of feeling deep familiar love as shown by her love for her adopted father and sister. Zenaida has a deep sense of loyalty and duty to her family, and loves her adopted father unconditionally, though she and her birth 'mother' do have a few issues. To those closest to her, she is generous and kind and can be bold and outspoken often making snarky comments, not afraid to say what she really thinks of a person.

Zenaida can be witty and sassy but also innocent, caring and thoughtful. She is protective of her friends and family and shows her fierce side when defending them.

Zenaida has a love of languages, something that Charlie encouraged as she grew up.

After recent years, with the truth of her heritage, powers, and her relationship with Loki being rather disappointed, and although Zenaida puts on a facade of strength and courage, she is, deep down, very emotionally vulnerable and she is in need of love, comfort and support.

With the ability to change forms, Zenaida's physical appearance can vary day to day, but most often she wears the form of a beautiful young blonde teenage girl. With this appearance, she is a very beautiful and attractive young woman. She has an "ethereal" beauty with an air of feminine mystery. Zenaida has a very soulful and magical beauty and she is almost uniformly feminine, in which she possesses somewhat of a fragile and enigmatic aura. Zenaida has soft and gentle facial features and she has somewhat of a delicate appearance. There is also something rather dreamy about her physical appearance. Zenaida has a heart-shaped face, with full cheeks. Zenaida has very expressive, soulful, dreamy and beautiful eyes; they are large, round and almond-shaped which are seen to be blue in colouring. Her eyes almost have a feeling of a boundless ocean; an ethereal quality that is very hard to pinpoint. She has perfectly shaped arched eyebrows that frame over her limpid and soulful eyes. She has a nice, slender and straight nose. Zenaida has well-shaped, full and sensuous lips, with straight white teeth and a warm and generous smile. She has clear and soft light skin or complexion with long, luxurious blonde hair. Zenaida stands at about 5'9".

Her fashion sense or style is described as being rock chic, she likes to wear ripped jeans and shorts, usually with crop tops and a green leather jacket, finished with heeled boots. She accessories with a bat pin, a green watch, a heart and snake necklace, a star and moon bangle, and a snake ring.

Zenaida once compared magic with cocaine, stating that once someone gets a taste of it, it's surprising what they will do.

Loki was the one to name Zenaida, and its origins are unknown, its closest Midgardian translation is Ancient Greek, relating to Zeus. It can be theorised that Loki might have named their daughter after their brother Thor, and the name is related to thunder or lightning. If the name is broken down into Zen and Aida, it could possibly mean tranquil moon visitor, peaceful moon visitor or calm moon visitor.

Zenaida enjoys yoga and meditation.

Zenaida enjoys watching sports, likely coming from Charlie as she grew up.

Unlike Bella, Zenaida has a warm and close relationship with Charlie, likely coming from him single-handedly raising her. Bella will warmly state that Zenaida is Charlie's baby. And whilst Bella knows that Charlie and Zen have a better relationship, she's not jealous, as she knows that Zen had no one else growing up, and that she's proud of Charlie for taking in Zen.

Zenaida is a fan of the New York Mets baseball team and Charlie claims that Zenaida can play rather well too.

Zenaida has a record player and a collection of records.

She wears violet and lavender perfume.

Zenaida likes old romantic black and white movies

Zenaida's blood type is O- (which is known as the universal blood donor type).
