《Always (Steve Harrington X Reader)》Chapter 021

My eyes flutter open and I find myself in the Wheeler's basement with Nancy leaning over me.
"Hi," I smile weakly, "You're pretty."
Nancy chuckles quietly, "And you've lost a lot of blood. You're lucky I made an A in Home Ec. Otherwise, you'd look like Frankenstein's monster."
I look at my arm to see that the tile is no longer there, but somebody had sewn it up with a needle and thread, "Wow. That's so badass..."
Nancy nods and wraps a bandage around my arm. We sit in silence as she works on my arm until I speak up, "Hey, Nancy?"
"Yes, Y/N?"
"I'm sorry about what happened with Steve. I know that it was a long time ago and all, but I'm still sorry."
"It's okay."
"M'kay. That's good," I sit up suddenly, realizing that I don't see the kids, "Where are my children? Steve's gonna be mad that I lost them. He's such a good mom. He'd never lose them."
Nancy laughs, "They're all upstairs eating breakfast. Get some rest. We have a lot to talk about."
"It was the same thing," Nancy continues, "The exact same thing that happened to Will last year. And look at this," she points at the paper on the table, "Look at the body temperatures."
"He likes it cold." Will mumbles.
"Okay, so this crazy old woman who was eating fertilizer—"
Nancy interrupts Mike, "Mrs. Driscoll."
"Right, yeah, Mrs. Driscoll. What time was this attack?"
"Last night."
"Right, but what time last night?"
"Around 9:00."
"You waited all night to call?" Jonathan asks Nancy.
Nancy shrugs, "I was waiting for the doctors to run some tests."
"You weren't there?" Will questions his older brother.

Jonathan raises his hands in frustration, "Well, I'm here now, aren't I?"
Nancy scoffs, "Hallelujah!"
"Ooh!" I exclaim, and everyone turns to look at me, "Sorry. Blood loss."
"Um, so, wha— what time was your...sauna test?"
"Around 9:00." The kids and I answer in unison.
"Well, that proves it. That proves my theory."
Mike nods, "She's flayed, just like Billy."
"Flayed?" Jonathan asks.
"The Mind Flayer. He flays people. Takes over their mind. Once they do that, they basically become him."
"If there are two flayed..." Lucas trails off.
"We have to assume there's more." Will finishes.
"Heather." El says, "Billy was doing something to her. She was scared. She was screaming. Bad screams."
"What's a good scream?" Lucas questions.
"Max said—"
Max cuts her off, "Doesn't matter."
"I'm sorry, I'm lost. Who is Heather?" Nancy asks.
"She's a lifeguard at the pool. She works with me and Billy." I answer, "It's Heather Holloway."
Nancy and Jonathan glance at each other, "Tom." They say in unison.
Nancy grabs her purse, "Come on."
We all rush around and get ready to leave Max helps me up and we all go upstairs and out the front door. Max, El, and I climb into the backseat, leaving Will, Lucas, and Mike to sit cramped up in the back.
"Seatbelts." Nancy says, fixing her hair.
We all click on our seatbelts and Nancy starts the car. We go to Heather's house and all of us climb out of the car and walk up the front steps.
Nancy rings the doorbell, and when we get no answer, her and Jonathan turn to El expectantly. El uses her powers and the door swings open.

We all walk inside and Nancy calls out, "Tom?"
I scoff, "Have you ever watched a horror movie in your life?"
She ignores me, "Heather?"
"Jesus, it's freezing." Max whispers.
We walk around the house and Nancy sniffs the air, "Do you guys smell that?" We all sniff and I realize that it smells very heavily of chemicals. We walk into the kitchen, and the smell gets stronger, "Oh, God. More chemicals."
Jonathan grabs a can, "You think they're guzzling this shit?"
"Yeah, either that or they just went on a hell of a cleaning spree."
"But last year, Will didn't eat chemicals." Max says in confusion, "Did you?"
Will shakes his head, "No. This is something new."
"Mr. Clarke, Fifth grade. Posit. What happens when you mix chemicals together?" Mike asks.
"You create a new substance." Will and Lucas answer in unison.
"What if they're making something?"
"In themselves?" I say skeptically, "I mean, come on, if you drink this shit, it'll kill you."
"Yeah, if you're human." Lucas sighs.
We walk past the dining room and into the living room. There's a glass bottle on the ground and Nancy leans down and inspect the rug.
"Blood." She says, "Yesterday, Tom had a bandage on his forehead." Nancy picks up the glass bottle and inspects it, "He was attacked."
We continue walking and see that the rug in the hallway has been messed up and there is blood on the corner of a cabinet. We walk into a garage and find ropes on the ground.
Jonathan leans down, "They must've tied them. They must've taken them somewhere."
"Mrs. Driscoll!" Nancy exclaims, "She kept saying 'I have to go back.' What if the flaying, it's taking place somewhere else? There must be a place where this all started, right? A source."
El nods, "Somewhere he didn't want me to see."
"If we can find the source, then maybe we can stop him. Or at least stop it from spreading or doing whatever the hell he's doing with those chemicals."
"How do we find it?"
"Mrs. Driscoll," Will speaks up, "If she wants to go back so badly, why don't we let her?"
We walk past the reception desk of the hospital, expecting the lady not to stop of since she's preoccupied by the phone.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Excuse me! Where do you think you're going?"
Nancy smiles, "Oh, um... I was just going to visit my grandma again. And— And this... this is my family."
We all smile at her and Lucas speaks up, "Extended."
The receptionist stands up and puts her hands on her hips, "I don't care who they are. You know the rules. Two visitors at a time."
"Yeah, but—"
The receptionist cuts Nancy off, "Two!"
She sits back down and picks the phone back up, telling the person on the other line the events that just took place.
I sigh, "Nancy, you and Jonathan go. I'll stay here with these guys. I spend most of my time with them anyway."
Nancy and Jonathan leave quickly and I take the kids over to the waiting room. I sit in a chair and close my eyes, trying to relax a little.
"Y/N, do you have any money?"
I open my eyes to see Mike and Lucas standing over me.
I sigh and reach into my pocket, digging out a few quarters. I hand them over to the boys, "That's all I've got."
"Thanks."
They go over to the vending machine and I reclose my eyes.

When everything turns into a zero sum game of dog eat dog, they'll find that The Hunter is an all too willing participant, but he will soon find out that he isn't the only player of this game. First story I'm posting and I don't really have a cool synopsis, sorry everyone, but this story is just another LitRPG apocalypse. I guess the only difference is that the main character isn't a hero. He's not here to save the world, he's not here to make friends, and he's definitely not here to save everyone. He's probably what the villains in other similar stories would be actually. Just writing for fun, advice or constructive critism is welcomed, writing style prone to change. Warning: Incredible amounts of poor grammar, Gore, Profanities, Traumatizing content, and cliches(I plan to have multiple main characters, maybe this is too ambitious for my poor skills, but it seems like it would be fun to try, the other MCs won't show up until later on.) The cover image isn't mine I just found it online. It's a piece by Stephanie Frey This takes inspiration from a lot of great stories on here, but I find the beginning to be most similar to Blood Lust by DefinitelyNotJormlung. Starcraft and Warhammer 40k and survival world rpg by S_Conary will also influenced this (at least that's my plan if I ever get that far or finish this) Also please stay with me until chapter 3. I suck at starting stories, but have been told I get better as I'm further along.

The Black Lord's Promise
It is said that the path to hell is paved with good intentions. Perhaps this does not matter if the world itself is corrupt. Change, then, is to be feared only by those who are themselves corrupt. The first chapter is an extended prologue that sets the scene of a riparian frontier of an alternate world, somewhere between medieval and the pre-industrial age, during an era of turmoil and possibility. A mysterious man is summoned to bring forth a new kingdom, but does he bring hope or calamity?
